The rumor the boat fire was caused by "scuba gear" is a CNN lie issued by the boat maker and or crew to avoid lawsuits of a certain kind.

Most probably the kitchen (that large iron sheet heated by flame) has a hood, that hood required heat retarding installation, and the that installation was FAKED, the ship builder used illegal aliens as labor, or similarly with insulation between the heated iron and gas jets.

You have cooking equipment which was made to be used by "sensible people".

It can be turned up high enough so that oil in the pan can catch fire - though your not supposed to leave it on High like that, of course - only an idiot would do that.
