List the things that you would do to make Fairfax County better, if you were Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors?

1) Ask the School board to show all money spent in the special needs category. This should include all transportations costs tools and equipment used, everything. Special needs children get transported out of FXCO to special schools up to the age of 21 at no additional cost to the parent.

2) Transportation, Widen all primary roads from 1 to 2 , or 2 to 3 lanes. EX - Telegraph Rd is still an single lane in each direction for over 75% of it but carries too much traffic for a single lane road.

3) Any private company conducting or procuring business with FXCO must have an office in the county. Keep our money in the county.

What else would you add?

* Eliminate lower used, especially off peak, Fairfax Connector and Metrobus bus runs. Those are buses picking up fewer than 5 or 10 passengers and have been doing so for more than one to two years. It does not make taxpayer sense when paying the contractor around or over $100 per hour to run the service, plus adds pollution to the air from nearly empty buses. There are many of these buses in the western half of the county which is less transit dependent.

* Eliminate translation services for dozens of languages in county government and schools, except for 911 emergency situations. This also would be an encouragement to learn English.

1. Crack down on housing and zoning violations. This is causing serious issues in a lot of schools and making certain neighborhoods look like shitpits.

2, Refuse to allow construction or introduction of additional affordable housing until #1 is under control.

3. Force Richmond to fix the LCI. We shouldn't be sending so much of our $$ downstate when our roads are crappy and overcrowded.

Sent out to actually do something for the public, direct traffic at construction spots, out of control traffic lights ,wrecks and get the traffic moving instead of being Prima Donnas showing off their bikes and uniforms

More frequent grass cutting along major roadways. More than the three times a season that VDOT does, with the last one right before Election Day (hmnnnnnnnn)

Interesting how the rule of not more than four unrelated people in a household zoning rule was passed in the 1980s to keep frat houses from being built around growing GMU. Guess what, today that rule is little used for that purpose, but for illegals more or less effectively.

I would prefer to be the Dictator of the School Board than the Dictator of the BOS. Much of the damage to the school system is self inflicted so it could be undone internally if someone had the desire and will. The BOS would be harder because so much would be beyond your control. The School Board controls the schools and all the BOS controls there is the funding. VDOT controls the highways. The Metro Board controls Metro, and so forth.

Embezzle public funds and then run for Congress. Oh wait, I already did that.

Line my pockets with developer funds and set up the county for perpetual failure due to a lack of central planning?

I don't think it's being used effectively in any circumstances. We've had problems in my neighborhood with this; the county refuses to investigate unless there are additional structures being built on the property.

Cities control their road repairs and grass cutting as well as traffic signals.Cities also don't send as much of their money's down to Richmond to spend such as meal taxes hotel taxes and others. All passed by city councils with a Mayors blessing or veto.No referendum needed.

Fairfax is still a county instead of the largest city in Virgina and the 10th largest city in the USA with its 1.1 million plus residents.

Of course Democrats would run a City of Diversity Va. Lol. Remember Mayors have more authority to get things done in a city, someone to hold accountable. That's a big issue that Fairfax is missing. A BOS form of government is more suited to Wise Co Va, then a diverse metropolitan area with Fairfax Counties population and budget. Good reasons there are now so many cities in Virginia

Hello DAJAX. Are there any races this fall that have caught your interest? Many of them look to be nut cases and nonentities. The Commonwealth Attorney race in Fairfax may get interesting with the insurgent Democratic nominee going up against independent Fahey who seems to have the support of local prosecutors and seems to be in the mold of the outgoing Arlington and Fairfax Commonwealth Attorneys.

I have not paid much attention to the Fairfax political events of late other then its a serious allegation against Jeff McKay. He may have to resign if it holds out to be true and should , as far as a GOP Chair he will be outvoted by the Democrats anyway so he will have to get along with all and his presence may give some balance to the board but still I favor a city government for Fairfax Co for more accountability as even the chair is just another vote on the board at large, no one on the board wields the authority of a Mayor, and then all the money going south to Richmond to spend as Fairfax is a county not a city.

As far as the Commonwealth goes I hope who wins is one that upholds the law and does not hide information too long as we have seen in cases of Mr Masters who was shot by a FCPD officer on Rt 1 in Huntington in a very bad shooting that I consider manslaughter as he was shot from behind going very slowly and Sal the optometrist who was only a gambler shot by a swat team or felony squad arresting officer in a terrible accident of an accidental discharge by a .45 auto which I felt was far too much unneeded police presence to bust a guy for being a bookie but that's of course the PD's fault not the Commonwealths but it should have been resolved sooner . Then there's the John Geer case a very bad shooting again by FCPD that dragged on . Im in favor of seeing Fairfax Commonwealth's Attorney Raymond F. Morrogh be replaced, he's not a Robert Horan who was a excellent Commonwealth's Attorney in Fairfax County for 40 years.

Overall I think Fairfax is a well run county government that does some things with excellence as it has many professional employees in the schools and general county and Im counting all including janitors . It also has some troubled departments that need better leadership too and that said Im not referring to public safety BTW other then the Sheriffs office where I will say Fairfax needs a new Sheriff badly, its been long time since Fairfax had a great Sherriff named M Wayne Huggins a former Virginia state trooper who returned to the state police later after serving as Fairfax's Sheriff and became the Superintendent Colonel of the Virginia State Police
