FCPS policies are insane. A SRO is not allowed to be part of the discipline process? Marijuana smokers only a class and no automatic expulsion?

A bad idea. Yet what is most troubling is an administrator has to call mommy and daddy for a search of a students belongings. This is dumb. What if the parents say no and then their “never would do anything student” commits a harmful act against another with something in a backpack or jacket? I’m glad my kids are out of this once great school system that’s now the laughingstock of its former existence.

Kids should be able to smoke/use whatever they want. Nobody should be searching anything, not even the cops. This is a great policy.

If you want rules and order and kids to behave, you need to move someplace else.

I’m a fan of Gerry’s and agree. A school is as school not a police station. About time. Thank you FCPS for being progressive modern and culturally sensitive!

Exactly. And if an injury or worse happens due to the calling home crap, thank the Elizabeth Warren like school board. Funny part is they will say “it’s not our fault as Mr. Smith or Mrs. Gomes said we couldn’t search their kids backpack when we called them. Then the school board instead of being responsible for this madness, will say “these are the parents sue them.”

Ohhh it is definitely the parents. They alone control the school system, and have for the past 10 years. Unfortunately, the past 5 years has shown the depth of their control, and is painfully obvious it will get even worse.

If anyone needs proof, simply look at the fall of FCPS and it’s state rankings. Ranked #1 just 5 years ago, they are now ranked #6.

You are a clueless clown. I've 65 years old and if it hadn't been for the police and security personnel at our school in Detroit, it would have become a charnel house.

A school is a school and those that are not there too learn need to be removed.

the reason being that "psych drugs" are more often involved and the base cause
