In the recent US News ranking of undergraduate engineering schools VT only comes in at 31. UVA is only ten places behind and the University of Maryland is nine places higher. The other year it was ranked #13 and I know they vary year by year by usually not by that much. Here is the link.

They are #31 in the graduate school. Looks like VT's engineering program is #13 on the undergraduate rankings in US News' rankings.

When you look at the ones higher ranked -- they are mostly super expensive private schools or in California...

We are lucky in Virginia to have good state schools.

I'm very happy that blanche jr. is at Tech in the engineering program.

Oh, I did not know it before. Engineering is a really hard job, it is not enough just to have knowledge for that but also to have experience of working. Sometimes the best workers are not that who have graduated the best schools but that ones who have knowledge of experience. When i was in Brazil I have used the grabe.com.br ( production of pumps and filters) I saw what a difficult job it is and what it requires a really good experience. In general such areas as engineering requires more experience than studying.
