When I do self checkout, how do I opt to pay the tax for using plastic bags?

obviously if i don't bring my own bag i have to pay for using plastic - for damaging the environment

the tax is pennies the government adds on

there is no wiki-how on yahoo to tell me my duty

VA doesn't have a bag tax, yet. Only DC and Monkey County.

If you do self checkout in DC or Monkey County, the computer asks you how many bags from the store you used. You press the number and it adds a nickel to your bill for each one.

I encountered that once. I just pushed the button saying I used 0 bags and then used their bags anyway.
