Walter Reed Resignation

That douchebag Kiley was finally forced to resign over the Walter Reed debacle...

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-03-12-walter-reed_N.htm

The guy has worked at Walter Reed for how many years? And he NEVER saw the damage to patients' rooms. It's called dereliction of duty.

If there were real justice in the world, this ass should have to spend a year in one of those mold-infested rooms that he described as "adequate." Asshat.

For general officers and an Army Secretary to get canned....you know this is a BIG scandal.

In most run-of-the-mill military scandals....they courtmartial a few enlisted men/women and that's that.

The stakes are high, the pool of people that are willing to be maimed in Iraq is small already, and might diminish even more with the news of such shabby treatment.

Getting court martialed and discharged is way more serious than being forced to resign. This guy's gettin off a little easy, IMO.

To get anyones attention higher up in the military you have to start talking about pulling their pension. That is the only thing these types understand.

When you bring up the loss of that you really get their attention and the attention of others that allow this to happen.

They are all getting off easy. The last guy used the excuse well I was only there six months. But he didnt lift a finger during those six months. The treatment the soldiers received is criminal. If this is the best we can do for the solders and marines who lost parts of their bodies and minds we are a sorry excuse for a country. I bet fatso teddy kennedy never got this kind of treatment when he checked in.

My point was that the Officer Corps usually escapes any retribution....

They could be asked to resign or leave the service, but I can bet none will face the chance of court martial. Even when they do very few have ever lost their pension.

The higher ups do a good job of covering for each other because they never know when they themselves will be in a jam.

Too bad nothing will happen beyond resigning and relocating the guilty ones. They couldnt have not known what was going on. Surely there were inspections of the facilities. Maybe if they were held truly accountable and court martialed the next ones to look the other way might think twice.

Just to help my point, this guy was allowed to retire which means full pension and all the benefits to go with it. Maybe if there is karma when he goes in to receive his full medical care for life he will be housed in the same rooms he subjected the grunts to.

Members of Congress need to go after Kiley's pension to make an example of him.

I read today that Kiley will retire a 2-star instead of 3 because he didn't serve the standard 4 year term. So, that will cost him a few bucks over time...
