I need a good Veterinarian
Posted by: Lorton Resident ()
Date: July 12, 2019 04:21PM

I took my puppy to a vet in Lorton.
$300 later, she got treated and was given a 30 day supply of heartworm and flea/tick meds.

I went back in to try to buy more meds and was told she would need a follow up appointment before I could get any.

I'm willing to take her back for follow up but I thought they were a bit greedy to demand more money so soon.

Anyone have a good Vet in the area that isn't a greedy SOB?

Thanks

Buy your meds online, annual heart worm test are just to get money from you. They will all do the same thing as your vet did. You can also buy all the vaccines online for a fraction of the price.

https://www.canadavet.com/ - for heart worm meds, I like heart guard. Used them for years, great company, never had any issues.

You can buy flea/tick anywhere like Amazon or Ebay just make sure it is the USA fda approved version. I like lambertvetsupply and jefferspet for vaccines.

If you can't afford to maintain a proper partnership with a qualified vet, you cannot afford to own a dog or cat.

STFU you bleeding heart lib. its bad enough that you snowflakes think HUMAN healthcare is an entitlement rather than an expensive luxury.... vet bills run five figures routinely in NOVA and there is no real insurance for pets that Im aware. rover lives a happy life, give him love, but when its his time people need to learn to let go. americans are so soft these days, spoiled rotten really.

my biggest pet peeve is the whole mass sterilization bit... its creating an evolutionary bottleneck. Every pet owner back in the day saw home breeding as a fact of life. These days it's mostly pros breeding and even the good ones reuse bitches until they die and are even more selective when it comes to the sire. Pro breeders also tend to shy away from creating (much healthier) mongrels as there is less money in mutts. And those are the good pro breeders. We all know how bad the bad ones are. It's a real problem and eventually the mainstream will realize it. Much like excessive use of human birth control, the effects take a few generations to really hit home. You'll see.....

mass sterilization is the epitome of "selective breeding". Only problem is we aren't preserving the healthy individuals. We're committing full scale animal genocide and wasting the damn meat on top of it all. Just because stray dogs are too "unsightly" for our hyper sterilized society. Then PETA tries to justify the millions they euthanize by saying stray dogs "suffer"... Socialist liberals always equate freedom with suffering but I've seen some extremely happy strays running around and some miserable mutts stuffed in sweaters... I don't think they want to die or be sterilized and I'm a hunter not a PETA freak. Animals WANT to breed just like (some) humans - its their instinct. Sterilization causes depression in pets too BTW

On the other hand selective breeding for the right reasons is wonderful. That's how we got hound dogs and sweet corn. Selecting healthy individuals with desirable traits is completely different from maintaining AKC status via incest or indiscriminately sterilizing and killing en masse for convenience and poop free yards.

The Nazis (and American eugenicists of the era) largely used experiments with animal breeding to develop human eugenic theories. If you don't think the nanny state doesn't still want to ultimately snip ("abolished" just 40 years ago in the US but uncle sam will give you depo free!) chip (you're chipped voluntarily in exchange for angry birds) and euthanize (abortion?) humans you are an idiot

Your mother should have been sterilized about two years before you were born.

youre not wrong, she is a true monster.. just kinda curious about the "two year" figure.... any particular reason? human gestation only takes 9 months...

I have clients who will send me a package of documents and say "I don't want you to do anything. Just read them over. Make sure there isn't anything I need to do and put it in my file." what they mean is "I'm not going to pay you for this. I still expect you to make sure this can't hurt me. If it does I will hold you responsible. If I ever need your services in the future I will expect you to know everything in this document that I am not paying you to read, and I am dumping on you the responsibility for safekeeping this document." My response is always "If we are doing work then we are being paid. If we are assuming risk then we are being paid."

Expecting the vet to simply write you additional prescriptions is the same thing. A vet who writes a prescription is certifying that in his professional opinion the drug being prescribed is an appropriate medication for the animal to take. How is the doctor going to know that if the doctor doesn't see the pet. Just because it was one drug was appropriate at the time of the initial visit doesn't mean the drug is appropriate thirty days later. Now my vet frequently does not charge for follow up visits, but I pay more for the initial visit.

What you are looking for Lorton Resident isn't a vet. What you are looking for is a prescription dispenser.

as far as I can tell OP is just looking for honest medicine. flea meds, heartworm pills etc.. on the other hand I knew a gal who had a prescription for 60 Valium a month for her fucking dachshund. she just called in for refills too. never did find the name of that vet lmao

So, i should borrow my neighbors dog to go to the vet to get valium? Sounds easier to get drug off the vet for myself than a reg MD

I know a dog that could use Valium, unfortunately the owner thinks it's not nice.

even humans shoudn't take that shit. there are much better anti-convulsive drugs these days. benzos are just used for "anxiety" now - purely palliative - like opiates, a cash cow for big pharma, a crutch for the addicts . even dogs suck it up better than these snowfuckingflakes. this is what happens when you restrict/ban corporal punishment for children and animals. you get a generation of worthless, disrespectful pussies! #donttakemyjuulmom

between video games/social media/internet/smartphones, "psych meds" for kindergartners/animals, gun control/preventive detention, and all the other entitled socialist collectivist bullshit, america is fucking dead. we killed ourselves. and we were the last bastion of freedom on the planet so theres nowhere to fucking run... the only way out is revolution but people are so complacent and the Orwellian culture of surveillance prevents the few who arent brainwashed from organizing in any meaningful way.. may as well just drink the hemlock and free yourself that way at this point

vets like that are rarer than hens teeth. if too many folks seek scripts from the same vet thats it.. unless youre like the gal I knew and dont mind sucking vet penis to feed your addiction. better of getting clean dude

I use the vet in Lorton. Probably the one you are writing about. They are a bit expensive but if you have an emergency they are excellent. Even small problems they always squeeze us in. The different vets and the techs are always kind and caring. I’ve used them for almost 20 years.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend a good veterinarian in your area, but I can recommend Pet Express. This is a great online pharmacy were you can find all necessary products and meds for your pets at reasonable prices. I've been using it for several months already and I haven't faced any issues yet.

$300? That sounds like a ripoff to me. Better do as this guy said and visit this veterinarian. If he really works for 20 years, then it can be checked and proved easily. Anyway, maybe some articles on Doggolab would help you too, check it. You can also ask a vet about vitamins and supplements, some of them include tick preventatives I think.

The vet near me literally killed my dog! I brought him in for a routine euthanization (which at the time I thought was a nail trimming) and they put him down! Monsters!

EVERY time I took my dog to the vet, they always want more $$$$$ tests!
Never knew there was an IAMS mri center in Vienna before!
South Paws in Springfield has better furniture than most million dollars model homes!
Suckers like you pay for it!

Get 5 way/7 way shots at MD tractor supply.
Syringes are $1

Get 3yr booster rabies vac from valley pet supply.

I can give you a similar diagnosis for free and I never went to vet school.

“We need more tests. You’re dog needs blood work....”
*one week later*
“Try these antibiotics and come back if problems go away.”

$1200 later.....
Dog dies and they hit you up again for “disposal.”

Whatever you do, don't take your pet to Town & Country. They killed my dog (accidentally) 6 years ago and to this day haven't even apologized for it.
