What is Middle Class?

This is the question that every Democrat should be asking! Now that we are guaranteeing any person that can get to our borders free health care and Bernie Sanders has said that the middle class will be paying more income taxes this will become a very important question. You may be surprised from the answer that you would get if the Big Bern is asked!

Almost 50% of American workers already don't pay federal income tax. That will have to end. What Bernie was saying was everyone who earns an income will have more taken out of their paychecks. But he's promising that this cost will be offset by free healthcare. At an estimate of $3.4 - $9.8 trillion a year to do that (not including illegals, if they give it to them it would go up another 15 - 20%), the tax rate to cover that would be about 40% for everyone. Not possible.

So the only alternative is to ration healthcare. The government is incapable of driving costs down for anything that they offer so anyone who tells you they can save most of that money from 'savings' is really telling you that you will get a lot less service for more money. You'll wait weeks or months to see a doctor.

The rich will have their own health care as the good doctors won't work for $150K a year. They'll start private practices for those who can pay for it. And you can bet that the socialist rulers of the country won't be using the public health care system for themselves or their family.

We already ration health care. Insurance and financial hurdles to getting required care are a form of rationing.

No one in the US waits weeks or months to get in to see a doctor unless they aren't trying. Anyone can go to an emergency room and seek treatment. Millions and millions of people do it every year. In countries with universal healthcare, people can wait weeks or months to see the doctor and then weeks or months to get testing done or treatment. In the US, if you have decent healthcare insurance, you can call up a doctor's office and almost always get an appointment that day or the next. If they find something serious, you can usually get testing done within a week aand then be in the hospital receiving treatment/operation within a couple of weeks after that. From the first time you called the doctor's office, you'd be out of the hospital recuperating before a month was out. In the UK, in that same month, you MIGHT have had the appointment to see the doctor but that's about it.

About 2/3rds of doctors in the US will accept new medicare patients. The rest either will not or will only accept new ones under tight conditions.

The VA system is a government-run health care system. It is a complete mess.

Almost 90% of US workers who have company supplied healthcare plans are happy with their plans. Proposing to take those away is political suicide.

The facts are with Reality Called. Even though insurance companies ration health care they do it far more humanely than a government panel. Government panels must be harsh because their decisions affect precedent and their "annual health budget." Example! Enter Baby Charlie in Great Britain a year or so ago. Not only did they deny health care but they refused to allow his parents to pursue the POSSIBILITY of health care because of the precedent of treating a person with a particularly difficult prognosis. For these reasons Baby Charlie was sentenced to death and was not permitted to leave Great Britain for the US for treatment.

Maybe and I say maybe a GP. But in most of these countries specialized work (surgeons) are not allowed a private practice. It is illegal to accept private payments for work "on the side."

Must be why they all come to the US for their procedures then. And they 70% of their doctors are from India and other 2nd and 3rd world shithole countries. Look around pal. You medical facilities and doctor's offices are turning browner and browner. Shit, even chinks don't want to be doctors here anymore.

Welcome to the world of substandard healthcare.

And please tell us you're not so stupid as to believe that the rich don't get whatever care they want, regardless of what's 'legal'.

Private insurance is the greatest. I love spending $1,100 a month for a product that won’t even work until I’ve spent another $8,000 out-of-pocket. People who want something better are stupid because they don’t realize how good they already got it!!

What's better? And you're insurance seems to suck. I pay $600 a month for a family of 5 and have a $25 copay per visit. It also offers some dental and eye coverage wrapped up in there (basic tho). My OOP costs are minimal (maybe $3K per year max - which I cover all of with my Flex spending account).

Middle Class is the group responsible for paying the tab of all welfare recipients. Forty million illegals getting spoon fed by middle class hard working tax payers.

^^^ What an ignorant douche!!!

Meanwhile, there is no official definition of 'middle class', but a rational stab at it might be anything between 70% and 200% of median household income. Nationally, thet would mean roughly the band between household incomes of $50,000 and $130,000 per year, with about 40% of households being found there. The wealth and working classes lie on either side somewhere, but bright lines are difficult to draw, and people want to subdivide further for whatever reasons.

Because Democrats for multiple generations have attempted to engage in a class warfare strategy.

If you want to know where the democrat vision for America leads, just look at Venezuela. If you like the freedom and prosperity there, vote Democrat.

Capitalists have to build walls to keep people out, socialists have to build walls to keep people in.

Someone needs to ask the dems what their plan is when the illegals take the middle class jobs. Welfare for all, food stamps for all, healthcare for all - they promise to deliver AFTER you surrender your freedom. Venezuela is a democrat instruction manual.

I do appreciate an academic approach to the question but I do not believe that those parameters will provide sufficient funds for "Medicare for All." Just like many Dem proposals they have visions of glory but in the end they have a debate like Bill Clinton provoked with his debate about taxing the middle class. Hence, we still have the question what is considered the middle class!

The middle class on a world-wide basis can be described as:

- Ownership or rent of climate controlled living quarters, with either 1 or 2 people alloted per bedroom.
- Access to private motor vehicle transport.
- Public schooling for children.
- Access to affordable food that adequately covers the food groups.
- telephone/smartphone ownership.

'Medicare for All' is an undefined and hence meaningless buzzword.

I see you don't recall that very well.

Not really. We just have stupid people who refuse to accept any definition so that they can continue to babble on endlessly about nothing at all. These people are called either FOOLS or REPUBLICANS. Take your pick.

No fucking way health insurance costs anywhere near that. I work for the county and pay less than 150 a month with $2000 max out of pocket per person $4000 per family. If we use in network Anthem doctors it pays for everything but a 20 dollar co-pay. Nobody is paying 1100 a month.
