Former staff member deleted all files

Dear forum members,

I have a very difficult situation to discuss. Two days ago we fired a GM secretary because she was not coping with her work. However today we noticed that all data and all documents she was working with, including GM contacts and meetings calendar were erased from hard drive. What to do? It all gets complicated because two more people worked at this computer later and I don't want to point at anyone for no reason.

Forensic techs can do a great deal to recover such files. They do it every day.

If you fire somebody then allow them to come back 2 days later and access their computer, you pretty much deserve to be fired too.

Very bad situation, I feel so much compassion for you. You know, we live in the XXI century, so just call your IT managers and they will restore deleted data from the hard drive. However for the future use employee monitoring software https://www.kickidler.com/ There are threats more serious than that. What if your next dismissed employee will copy all confidential data and just sell it to the rival company?

It will cost probably 1000 dollars or some more . Police obtain evidence in crime labs all the time from deleted computer files. You will have to research whos good and reputable with this. If you file a police report they may be able to offer a list of companies that can do it. Its vandalism and that's a crime if the lady did it intentionally but that's very hard also to prove , you just want to get the files recovered tell them that.

A very unpleasant situation. I hope you can recover your lost data. I think you should have installed Fluix https://fluix.io/safety-management on your employees' phones. With this software, you would be able to store backup data in the cloud and also receive incident reports.
