Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
There seems to be a Greek place at just about every shopping center of any size or significance. I've sat down at half a dozen of them and my impression is that they are all at least pretty good. Favorite would probably be the Pan Am Family Restaurant at Nutley and Lee Highway.
Plaka Grill isn't bad, but they always ask you "how is your day going" right before they hand your the bill". You could be standing at the register for 10 minutes waiting for your food and they don't say a word, it's only when they give you the check.
They think they are out smarting you to leave a tip. That's when I pull out the one-finger salute and hit the road.

I had the opposite problem, it was too big on my iPhone. I do have the latest one though, and maybe the picture is bigger because my phone is better.

Oh fuck yeah it is!!!
Best in Fairfax County. The real stuff. Love their cucumber sauce.
Grill Kabob Herndon is run by the people which ran Reston Kabob which was in the shopping center (now apartments plus somehow Popeye's made it?) where there was a 7-11, bank & a dry cleaner off of Sunrise Valley Drive close to Reston PKWY.

I have only been to the Grill Kabob in Reston, but if the Herndon one is serving the same chicken by the same recipe as the one in Reston (it should be, as they are both part of a chain), it bears little resemblance to the superb chicken kabob that Reston Kabob made. Same is true of the available sauces/chutneys. Grill Kabob nowhere close to Reston Kabob.
Also, when those apartments were being marketed/opened, the developer was saying that Reston Kabob would be returning to one of the retail spaces at street level. I don't think that has happened yet, if it ever will.
Popeyes survived because the land it sits on was separately owned, and the owner declined to sell to the developer.
