At this point, they are losing in miserable fashion to really bad teams while having their best pitchers on the mound. Hasn't happened since 2009, but could we be looking at a 100-loss season again this year?

They gave him a 3 year contract beginning in 2018. If they fire hin now, they'll be paying him to stay home for most of 2019 and all of 2020--almost 2 years. If they're going to fire him, it'll be at the end of the 2019 season. That way, they'll only have to pay him to stay home for 1 year. If they fire him at the end of the 2019 season, it's smart to do it early, so he has a better chance of finding another job and the Nats will be on the hook only for the difference for 2020, if there is any.

He costs less than a sub-par utility infielder.

I believe there's a team buyout for year 3. When he's canned they won't have to pay him for a full year.

Yeah, you seem really bright. Meanwhile, Corbin got past his Coors history and got us at least one out of three. Sanchez not a good bet to fare as well, but here’s hoping.

Dusty was no genius, but he did win a lot of games for us. Martinez can't overcome his tiny little brain.

Two years running, Dusty was able to take a 40-man roster and mold it into a team that was successful on the field. Matt Williams failed at that over his final 162 games and was fired for it. Dave Martinez has failed at that over his first 185 games and likely ought to be fired for it as well. This isn't a situation that is likely to fix itself.

Davey Martinez is packing on a pound for every game the Nats fall below .500.
