You'd be more likely to end up at some upscale venue, but I'd recommend having an appointment if you want to dine anywhere with this Vienna Guy fellow. Still, just schlepping into the 29 Diner would be a much better plan than trying to eat ANYWHERE AT ALL in the sorry-ass 'dining desert' of Falls Church City.

Maggi is of course available at the German Gourmet on Columbia Pike just west of Route-7 in Bailey's Crossroads. Unlike some others, I've been a regular there for quite some time. Best German potato salad in town and do be sure to try the gelbwurst as well. Mmmm!

Best German potato salad is made by me, Swabian style.

No mayonnaise, no sugar, no bacon. Das ist nicht erlaubt!

To begin, slice several yukon or red boiled potatoes (skinned or if you prefer, with skin) in quarter inch slices into a bowl.

Add half a cup of beef broth. Mix gently. Then in this order, add: half cup vegetable oil (not olive oil), a little salt, a lot of pepper, and a healthy amount of vinegar. Stir gently. Add Maggi, minced onions and cucumbers. Stir gently and let set at room temperature for a few hours stirring gently every half hour.

That’s repulsive. This is a good basic way to prepare tender pork chops:

-Sprinkle chops with fresh rosemary and ground pepper
-Sauté chops in olive oil and remove to a plate
-Add more olive oil and sauté a package of sliced mushrooms
-Remove mushrooms and sauté 2-3 cloves garlic
-Add chops back to pan and add about 1-2 cups beef broth (can add and reduce a little wine first)
-Cover and immer chops for about an hour until tender
-Mix a little bit of chop broth/drippings with 1 tblsp flour; add to pan and whisk
-Add 3/4 cup sour cream and a little gravy darkener and whisk
-Season to taste with salt and pepper
-Add mushrooms to pan

Serve with buttered noodles, rice, or potatoes and a veggie.
