Well, the Whiffies have pretty much choked on news of this second luncheon with The Principals in a week. There is just so much about the Sweet Spot life that these losers can neither fathom nor absorb. I know I mentioned the wine and oysters yesterday, but the table was also laden with orders of lobstar carbonara, shrimp fettucine alfredo, lamb chops, and half a fried chicken with mushroom risotto. That last bit will of course bring back awful memories for dopes who tried to dump on the coconut risotto once so famously served with the wonderful scallops at MAR in Vienna, then a Tim Ma restaurant. There is in fact neither sense nor class to be found anywhere within the Whiffie community. Oh, and profiteroles, gelato, and chocolate cake were brought in for dessert along with coffee of course and some favored liqueurs. Another very nice meal, all in all.

Meanwhile, I did sleep in this morning after quite the busy day yesterday, but it was still just 70 degrees outside when I finally did get up. We had an inch and three-quarters of new rain overnight, but it looks like that might do it. High humidity out there this morning of course, but no sun and light breezes made the morning paper retrieval mission just a cool and fresh delight. Looks like the clouds have pretty much blown off here lately, so we should be seeing sun and highs in the low 80's over the rest of the day. We've already just enjoyed seeing Mom, Dad, and both fawns munching away east of the fenceline, so it's now just a good day just to sit back and relax, then dig into some tasty leftovers around the time of tonight's Nats game.

No such pleasures of course await the criminal mind of President Ding Dong. After all, he has to somehow stop mail-in voting, bash Dr. Birx, worry about TikTok, roll out a new national health care system, and worry about Manhattan prosecutors pushing their ever more wide-ranging fraud probe. That's a tall order, and while being plainly obese, Trump is still a small, small man. The end is coming for him, and it won't be pretty. Jackass Jared will be going down in all this as well.

In other news, Juan Soto is back and Stephen Strasburg isn't, but after a 4-day COVID layoff, the Nats are expected to return to the field against the Mets at 7:05 this evening. You realize that there's STILL no tax benefit gained by including non-deductible expenses in the HELOC right? All that you're doing is extending the period for repayment of the deductible portion and increasing your borrowing costs. Even assuming that all of that cost is deductible, you simply pay more and deduct more interest. You net out the same as if you'd not included the non-deductible expenses and repaid the same $25K off over a shorter period. Again, the objective is not to create the largest deduction.

The 'whipped whiffie" is you, dim boy. One guy pointed out the flaw of your premise, you DON'T use a HELOC to buy a car, since there's lots of 0% deals out there. If you can qualify for a HELOC, you can probably qualify for the 0% car loan. In that case, you use somebody else's money for FREE (or next to free, since any fee you might pay for the car load is small in comparison to the interest you might pay on a regular car loan or a HELOC loan) to buy the car, you finance the roof with the HELOC and deduct the interest. You do something else with the other 25K on your HELOC loan. That was choice D, do something else.

Well, those who live back east may have had something of a terrible day yesterday. A tornado was even reported in Vienna after all, but thankfully indications are that none of their fine restaurants was damaged in any way. Out here in the gorgeous Sweet Spot meanwhile, we received about a quarter-inch of rain and hunkered down against winds that gusted at up to 12 mph. It's a wonder that any of us is still alive. It's meanwhile a beautiful, bright, crisp, and sunny 70-degree morning out here right now, with clear blue skies and glorious sunshine everywhere you look. The humidity is hanging out in the low 70's, and the mercury should fall short today of even the mid-80's, so it would appear to be quite the day we have on tap out here. Showers and t-storms may move in overnight, but it's a lovely path we'll have to travel along before we ever get to that point.

Last night was wuite enjoyable as well, as delicious leftovers from Monday's scrumptious lunch with The Principals were reheated and divided between the two of us, right along with a bottle of Santa Margherita. All that while watching a phony-ball contest on the television. And fair warning -- as things stand right now we'll be headed down Washington Avenue and into SWDC again on Saturday. Well, we once again might get a little wet later on, but thus far today, things have been just delightful out here in the ever so upscale Sweet Spot. It was 72 degrees out there when I got up with mostly sunny skies, gentle breezes (our favorite kind), the humidity at a tolerable 80%. The morning should continue in that sort of vein, but the afternoon could very well shift into familiar patterns of showers and t-storms. We got less than a quarter-inch of rain from yesterday's bits of bluster, but who knows what we'll end up getting today. Thus far, we haven't gotten any wildlife visits, but those would be more typical these days in mid-afternoon or so. We'll keep an eye out for the deer family later on. The fawns are just so cute.

Not at all cute of course is the Fat Boy President Ding Dong. An epic lard-bucket of infantile yet gargantuan proportion, he is being roundly and rightly mocked now for his abysmal failures during the Jonathan Swan interview for Axios. And of course his ridiculous claims that children are 'almost immune' from COVID have been taken down by both Facebook and Twitter. And his claim of our 'great generals' telling him that Beirut was attacked??? Or his election lawsuit against Nevada??? Rarely if ever has a President so routinely needed to be censured for simple stupidity.

In other news, the Nats have now cancelled January's scheduled WinterFest. That's been a fun mid-winter event, but COVID threats made the decision to cancel an easy one. Meanwhile, Max Scherzer (who might slot in as the 3-guy in the Nats rotation now) could not battle through a twinged hamstring last night, tossing a single unimpressive inning that was prologue to an uninspired 3-1 loss to the struggling Mets. We did get Juan Soto back (along with cut-outs of his family in the LF bleachers), but even that was not enough to turn the tide on a weak night. No game today, but the O's are expected to be here Friday night to help us all engage in more phony-ball.

Phony as well of course are the louts and losers of feeble Falls Church City. Officials there have now had to take action against illegal dumpers by installing a new gate and imposing new hours at the Gordon Road Recycling Center so that City staff can do their own jobs rather than the jobs that Karen-like locals should have done themselves. The City is also at last on track toward removal of a 1985 plaque glorifying the hanging of Union spies by Confederate forces. Not sure how that ever came about or lasted so long.
