Let’s all remember for a moment that JP was a National Merit Finalist who also had a 1500 on the SATs and a perfect score on the FSEE. After that, there came a prestigious run through academic honoraries (that I didn’t pay to join), on the way to nomination as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow to the Sloan School at MIT, a run as a White House Fellow, and from there, on to an awarded 40-year public sector career at the highest levels of international economics and finance, working with USG operating and statistical agencies and through such key IFIs as OECD/DAC, IFAD, the Paris Club, UN, IMF, World Bank and so on. It’s quite the high-levelorld, one that none of you ignorant boobs knows the first damned thing about. As has been noted, I also found time in the mid-90s to develop and teach to hundreds of eager students a pioneering Intro to HTML course, winding things up in 2012 with extensive work first organizing and then building a large and complex SQL database of USG international operations. These days, the wife of 54 years and I live (as we have since 2014) as wealthy retirees enjoying all the best in life from a beautiful $1.9M country home on a much larger than average property nestled among the woods, fields, streams, and wildlife of the wonderful Sweet Spot that so many useless derps and dopes around here can’t manage to find. We found and bought the place beck in 1978, doing most of the necessary improving and spiffying up after deciding in 2005 that we would proceed to retire in place. It’s become a gorgeous and inspiring country home for us, being at once both plain and fancy as well as close enough to and far enough away from things as we would like. Very nice!

It's not just me who sees the same two cars! This topic comes up at EVERY garden party we've thrown lately.
There are a handful of other neighbors who see the same things I've reported.
I don't live next door, but some neighbors who live closer complain about the mess the house is in. I only notice the cars.

HVAC Guy was here yesterday to inspect and assure our capacity to maintain rain a ‘controlled environment’ through all phases of the coming cooling season. Looks like we should be able to coax another summer out of the ductless mini system, but at age 20, it will need to be replaced soon. Also had all of the AC filters cleaned, and an array of burned out bulbs and tubes replaced. Age and arthritis turn such tasks into serious challenges, so it's nice to have such able, helpful, and service-oriented folks come by from time to time. Also nice to see the Nats end their 7-game losing streak last night. That had gotten depressing. It’s not like we’re going to threaten NYM or PHI all of a sudden, but winning at least one game here and there is a good thing. Warm but perhaps stormy weather coming up for the Sweet Spot, but we are well prepared for all that.
