Meanwhile, Principal #2 got hung up with working through legalisms yesterday and never made it to nails. The two of them have put about $30K into his mom’s old house, and they want to get that back before the residual from any sale is split per stirpes. The market has apparently been pretty good down there, so they’re hoping to get $550K for the place.

That left the three of us looking for lunch, so we decided to try the new Carnegie Diner in Vienna. Same folks as the Carnegie Diner in NYC, but no relation at all to the renowned Carnegie Deli. Walking in, we were advised by departing patrons that it was really good but really expensive. As we left later on, i would have said moderately good, and moderately expensive. Had their basic pastrami sandwich but with two fried eggs added. Pretty good alright, but there were just mediocre marks for both the mac-and-cheese and the Pinot Grigio. That can’t happen. Still, it's early for them yet, so we’ll give them another try at some point. It would be nice if they worked out well.

And as a simple aside to so many lackeys and losers, we set up the Alex Fund as a 501(c)(3) in 2002 as a way to do a good thing in memory of a good person. We don’t intend to save the world or solve all of its many problems. We simply hope to identify and honor one or two students per year who can play the sort of role on the JMHS swim and dive team that Alex once did. We can afford to do such a thing, and so we have.

Back in Adult-Land, we had to have the plumber in this morning on account of unexplained puddles periodically forming on the kitchen floor. Weird. Anyway, turned out to be a pinhole in the sprayer hose. Ordered a whole new Hans Grohe unit. Should be here in a day or two, and The plumber can return to do the install. It’s always something when you’re a high-end homeowner.
