Well, the latest bulletins reveal that the presumed last wintry gasp wasn't quite the last one after all, as a windy, blustery, 36-degree morning made cold an unwelcome shotgun rider all the way over to and back from town this morning. Yummy breakfast goodies were of course procuredalong the way, but it looks like we'll need to endure one more throwback sort of day out here in the wondrous Sweet Spot, and after that, we'll be off into a long-awaited smile-inducing run of more Palm Beach-like weather. It's 66 degrees there this morning. No rain is going to happen here today, but winds will continue to blow strong and steady while temps barely reach the mid-40's. Check it out while you can, as there won't be many more days like this for a while.
In other breaking news, the Nats got off to a 3-0 lead over the Marlins in Jupiter yesterday behind four innings of one-hit ball from Anibal Sanchez. The minor leaguers took over on the hill at that point, and The Fish flew away from there to a 7-3 win, as the Nats continue to look like a bunch of sure-fire also-rans, our 4-8 record for what it's worth being worse than that of every other club in the divirion. The same two teams will meet again in West Palm Beach today. Elsewhere, Lucas Giolito got through his one-inning Spring debut without allowing a run, while Blake Treinen is set to come off the Dodgers' IL today and could see his first action of 2020, after a disappointing 2019 season.
Much worse than merely disappointing of course are these shuffling shirkers from Falls Church City. Nothing but a bunch of lying sack-of-shit losers, these tools can only disgrace themselves and the once good name of their now decrepit hometown by acting like the repulsive, childish, and disinformed dopes that they actually are.

Well, it was easy enough to at least seemingly sleep in later than usual this morning, but regardless of what the clock said, it was still only 37 degrees at sun-up out here in the grand and glorious Sweet Spot. We're sitting on 43 degrees at the moment, but are expecting to soar into the 60's at some point rather soon, There's barely a puff of breeze out there and no chance of rain at all, so we are pretty much in for a nice warm sunny day today. We'll be seeing this milder sort of thing on a regular basis now for a while. Showers could ultimately become a significant part of things as well, but tomorrow, not so much. There's some chance that we'll see 70 degrees then for the first time in quite a while. One could of course see 70 degrees simply by flying down to West Palm Beach, but it's not everyone who can actually pull off a thing like that.
In other news, both Victor Robles and Eric Thames were back in action yesterday with the Nats having a split squad day. They played to a 2-2 tie against the Marlins at home with all the scoring there coming in the first three innings. Joe Ross was a little shaky for the first time, but was backed up by zeros from Suero, Doolittle, and Hudson. The Nats had nine singles and three walks to work with, but only a 2-run single by Howie cause anyone to dent home plate. Up in Port St. Lucie meanwhile, Austin Voth tossed three scoreless innings against the Mets, while Ryan Zimmerman knocked an early two-run single that helped lead the good guys to a 5-0 win. Starlin Castro finally got his first hit of the Spring in that game, so he won't have the schneid on his mind any longer. Pretty good day for the boys all in all.
Not such a pretty day at all for the much littler boys of Falls Church City of course, as major league ass-kickings related to Brine and JJ's plus someone's dining out once again led them to lose any sense of composure at all, simply collapsing into steaming piles of emotional rubbish. Pre-schoolers would have been expected to hold up better, but such shame is the constant cloak that these local losers are forced to wear.

But at only a bit beyond 3,000 sqft, it is hardly a palatial mansion. The Sweet Spot is meanwhile an area on either side of 123 as it winds its way from the Potomac to the Occoquan, mostly between 495 and 286. This house and this neighborhood are part of that upscale zone.

Well, amidst the continuing absence of any sense at all emanating from the damaged goods contingent residing over in the Falls Church area, we here in the grand and glorious Sweet Spot are preparing for an even more beautiful day today than yesterday. Well before a DST sunrise, it was already 43 degrees outside, and we should be in the low 70's over most of the afternoon hours. Nice! No wind and no rain worries cloud the horizon, so it should just be a bright, warm sunny day. Some afternoon and evening showers could be sneaking in over this coming week, but mostly, we'll be looking pretty darned good for not even mid-March.
In other news, the Nats first round of roster cuts saw Raudy Read optioned to Fresno, with Jakson Reetz, Drew Ward, Mac Williamson and three others being reassigned to minor league camp. There will of course be more rounds of cuts to come before a 26-man roster emerges. In game action against the Tigers yesterday, Erik Fedde matched zeros with ex-Nat Jordan Zimmermon over the early going, only to see DET pile up a 4-0 lead against the bullpen arms of Elias and Harper behind him. Carter Kieboom hit a long double to CF to bring the Nats a 5-4 lead in the seventh, but Sam Freeman gave up a triple, a single, a walk and two wild pitches in the ninth to blow the save, after which a throwing error by Kieboom made the final score 7-5 for the Tigers. It's looking right now like another 19-31 start could happen.
Also looking very bad at this point of course are these highly damaged dopes of Falls Church City -- at least the ones who haven't yet slithered off to hide in the face of their continuing humiliation. Well, after an absolutely wonderful day yesterday out here in the Sweet Spot that so many can only eye with envy, it looks like we might have almost as nice a day on tap for today. A few more clouds perhaps, some blustery breezes, and we could see some rain late in the day, but the mercury will be on the climb from an already rather pleasant 55 degrees at sun-up, likely once again reaching up into the low 70's. We saw 73 degrees as a high yesterday, and we'll see if we can make it back up there today.
As noted earlier, we did in the end have an alignment of schedules vis-a-vis The Principals sufficient to allow us all to head over as planned to delightful Eddie V's in Tysons for an afternoon of fine food, wine, and conversation. Started off of course with a couple dozen of their select oysters with a double-dose of mignonette. Theirs is not quite as good in my view as what Brine used to serve, but Eddie's is at least similar, while being a bit more on the peppery side. It's meanwhile so good that the table also shared an order of lobster bisque for openers. The rest then went with beef of one sort or another as a main course, while I chose the swordfish with pink grapefruit and avocado. It's not easy to cook swordfish properly, but Eddie's has always done a nice job with it and certainly did so yesterday. Quite yummy, though not quite as impressive on the plate as a 22-ounce ribeye. Some lobster tails, garlic spinach, crab fried rice, and truffle macaroni and cheese were called in as sides, and The Principals (who get to Eddie's more often than we do) decided on a WillaKenzie Estate pinot grigio which was certainly quite nice, but I wouldn't put it up there with any of the Big Three. Chocolate and toffee s'mores were the choice for dessert, but I didn't really hold up my end of the deal on those, preferring simply to sip my coffee. So that was very nice. It had been a while since we'd been able to get the four of us together. We'll try to do it again sometime soon.
And just by the way, today marks the one-year anniversary of JP Morgenthau. Desperate and depraved no-class at all spoofers of course forced a switch to Actual JP Morgenthau back in October, but while poking those boogers in the eye, it's still a noteworthy day.
In other news, the Nats were off yesterday, and even ex-Nats were something of a scarcity in the box scores. Bryce Harper did go 3-3 for PHI and is now batting .500 for the Spring.
Batting more like .000 of course, are these low-life losers from Falls Church City with their so very far from perfect recent attendance records. Badly battered by back to back to back shellackings, they've had to do that Potomac Mills thing of theirs over and over again of late. Next thing you know, some dope will try to shift the conversation away from Brine and JJ's and off to Sisters Thai or the like. That's just the sort of diversionary dishonesty they prefer once they've been treed like some pitiful raccoon. Pretty pathetic is all these assholes really are.

For this spring, I have decided to try and make this simple and colorful pom-pom trees. I gathered twigs from around my yard and hot glued colorful pom-pom balls onto them. I put a few of these pom-pom balls in a vase and displayed in my foyer to welcome my guests! This idea is not only affordable and budget-friendly, but it is fun and colorful to look at, making it the perfect spring décor!
