Well, the wage slaves will be busy in their cubicles by now as another week of hoping to stave off starvation gets underway. ‘How was your weekend?’ Hahaha! Out here in the lap of retirement luxury of course, it’s just another vacation day for the lot of us. No suits, no ties, no socks, no shoes. No memos, no meetings, no deadlines, no need to hold our calls or take long lunches. After all, it’s just another Made-in-the-Shade Monday for us unencumbered Sweet Spot pensioner types. It was already 45 sun-filled degrees when I got up and we’ll pass 50 degrees here shortly. North winds are expected to kick up into the teens for a few hours this afternoon, but quiet again down by sunset. Cool.
Real President Joe meanwhile has to laugh at GOP whining over the balloon shoot-down. There would have been just as much clown-carping from these bozos had he proceeded along any other lines. ‘Biden Bad!’ is literally all they have to say. And they'll surely be saying it at and perhaps during tomorrow’s State of the Union address. Wouldn’t be surprised to see buffalo horns guy in the gallery. The right wing is just totally out in the woods.
In other news, Spring Training camps are slated to open in less than ten days now. The Nats have been playing with two hands tied behind their back, but have still managed to sign as much talent as they had to let go. All our real eggs are of course in that bulging prospect basket, but even with many of those sent out for seasoning, we should have an interesting club on the field each night. The fact that The Racing Presidents are on this year’s bobblehead schedule should confirm that we won’t actually be competitive in the ML East in 2023, but as rebuilds go, this one is actually coming along pretty well.
Not coming along at all well of course is anything over in sorry-ass Falls Church City, and it’s not just that the bottom fell out of the local ground lease market. Aggrieved residents could try to sweeten the scene by patronizing Girl Scout Cookie pop-ups now appearing all over town. Stop in and savor some Samoas today!
