Well, the board continues today to be plagued by locust-like hordes of pre-teen idiots and illiterates, but the unkindness of Xmas break will soon be over and the urchins will all scurry back to the drudgery of their unproductive labors at one area middle school or another — places where the girls will continue to pay no attention to them at all. For those of us having written rather more complete and impressive resumes at this point, it is another impressive Sweet Spot morning that we have to deal with today. Amidst wall to wail sunshine, temps are already in the 40s and will add another ten degrees by mid-afternoon. Light SW winds and modest humidity will round out a nearly ideal December day.
Real President Joe is meanwhile being given even more reason to send even more advanced weaponry to Ukraine while yet another madman takes control in Israel. It’s a disgrace. They were once the good guys in the Middle East, but that was a long time ago now! It’s a good thing Jared Kushner solved so many problems there.
In other news, the last of the free agents are being sopped up by clubs with huge bankrolls, leaving the small market guys with nothing but more seasons of second division despair to look forward to. It’s a good thing the Nats remarkably took charge in 2019, as with ice dams on both the ownership and broadcasting fronts, we won’t be able to open the throttle for years to come. With luck, we could catch MIA for 4th in the division at some point, but we’ll otherwise need a deep-pockets buyer and for Peter Angelos to pass away (and take MASN with him) before DC can get back on a winning track.
The last time Falls Church City was on a winning track was prior to the Korean War, and things have gone right off the rails since then. With all the demolition that’s gone on there, mid-century residents would hardly recognize the place. That’s part of the reason why every neighboring area (except perhaps Culmore) is a more desirable address these days.
