Out here in the better blessed Sweet Spot meanwhile, we are forced to deal with prospects for a mostly cool and cloudy day today. Just about an inch of rain fell over the past 24 hours, most of that as we and The Principals enjoyed the luxury of pedicures and then another wonderful meal out. Practice makes perfect, so we are really good at that. But we enjoy a perhaps quick patch of sun just now, and there should not be any more wet stuff to contend with for a while. Highs however will be just in the mid 40's today, with true clearing not expected to occur until the middle of the night. Breezes are no big deal at the moment, so the trip down and back to grab up the morning paper was an easy one. As they are wont to do from time to time, biblical numbers of blackbirds have descended like Whiffies onto the bird feeders above the back patio. And like Whiffies, they make many, but only squabbling, bickering, and otherwise incoherent sounds as they flit from feeder to feeder. Still God's creatures, though only of course in silly fable and fiction.

No dogma though in the fact that the days of the idiot President Ding Dong are worse than done. Though he's filed about forty of them, he has yet to win any significant court case, and his jabberwocky 'legal team' has been sternly rebuked in many of them. It's all part of the shame that we as a country will need to deal with and atone for in coming years. What an awful mistake this clown has been.

In other news, Michael A Taylor has signed a one-year deal with the Royals for a base of $1.75 million plus a potential $1M in incentives. He made $3.325 million last year with the Nats who released him rather than give him an arbitration-imposed raise for 2021. He's a genuinely nice guy, so I hope things work out well for him. Otherwise, the MLB non-tender deadline looms, so teams are busy low-balling as many fringe players as possible, hoping to lure them into below-market deals rather than risk being cut loose into a sea of uncertain economic circumstances. MLB definitely does not have your back, but they certainly will stab you in the back as best and fast as they can. It's just a disgrace.

No less so of course the sorry state of affairs in fully non-functional Falls Church City. They are now down to encouraging graffiti on the walls of the old high school before it is torn down. That's reverence for the past for you. Not much different from leaving the names of slave-holders on 21st century schools. Talk about the baggage of misplaced values.
