Well, for the Whiffies, it was once again a disappointing time of failure and misfortune, but as is so often the case, things on Monday went just swimmingly for the wife and me, The day had begun with a visit from the HVAC team to program a new A/C remote. Performance by the old model had been flickering a bit, so it's good to have a reliable performer back in the line-up as the dog days dawn. Then we headed out for a relaxing pedicure, followed by a yummy lunch over at The Virginian in Vienna. Fancy, it is not, but cozy and delicious, it most definitely is. Sadly, we were not able to work anything out with The Principals yesterday, but we may have another shot at that this weekend. After lunch, it was back home to find the cleaning people just finishing up on all their usual wiping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and linen exchange work. Time then to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine before watching the Nats exhibition game win over the Orioles at Camden Yards. The same teams play here tonight to wrap up the comedic Summer Camp season.

It will be something of a hot time in the old town tonight, as it was already 75 degrees when I got up, and things are likely to soar again from there. Should see the usual chances for late afternoon and early evening showers and t-storms as well. Imagine that! There was a little bitty breeze blowing when I ventured out to retrieve the morning paper a while ago, and the humidity is fortunately no higher than 70%, but it was still a good deal less than completely pleasant out there at the time. LOL! We have been part of a Nats season-ticket group since 2005. For many years now, that group has consisted of myself and my wife, holders of half-season plan tickets in the deluxe Club Level. We of course have reserved in-stadium parking for those games as well. Due to the deaths of half of us, we are no longer partners in the SEDC townhome that served for 14 years as a base of operations for baseball games, theater events, holiday festivities, and downtown dining out. Cellphones of course have not been around for that long, but since their arrival on the scene, they have become embedded in the very fabric of daily life. They are in common use in the Club Level on game days.

Well, HEF is four degrees to the good of DCA this morning, and it was a mere 75 degrees outside when I got up, better by half a dozen than what we have seen here recently. All that allowed for a reasonably pleasant trip down and back to retrieve the morning paper. No wildlife spotted along the way, but did encounter a trio of chatty dog-walkers taking the long way around this morning. This might have been the best of today's times though, as conditions are likely to worsen soon. We should see at least the low 90's for a brief bit late this afternoon, with more summer showers and t-storms being likely then as well. We got better than half an inch of rain out of yesterday's batch, with most of that coming out of what on radar had seemed like just a tiny little speck of a cell. Big enough to have left us with 90% humidity now though.

We also got 30 minutes of mindless noise from President Ding Dong yesterday, as his alleged COVID news conference quickly deteriorated into spasmodic rants and then ended after a half hout of futility and failure. Odds are he will have to cancel these things once again soon, as they will only damage his poll numbers even further. Plainly he can't talk about COVID, and he's not making any points by opposing plans for economic relief, or by sending his Pinochet-like secret police to invade American cities. He has become nothing but one of his own favorite words -- a scourge.

IN other news, the Nats beat the O's again last nighjt to wrap up Summer Camp play. They now host the Yankees tomorrow in their funny-season opener. Will anyone care? Meanwhile, it seems now that Toronto will be playing its 2020 home games in Pittsburgh. Nice ballpark there, and in normal times, a fun, cheap destination for a weekend baseball road trip. Otherwise, Nomar Mazara (OF-CHW) mysteriously appeared on the 10-day DL yesterday. We all know what that means. And former Nat Matt Adams smacked a walk-off homer to send the Braves to a 10-9 win over The Fish. It looks though like Anthony Rendon's oblique issues will put him on the shelf for the start of the sort-of season. Hopefully, he'll be back in action soon.

Ever on the shelf of course are the banged up burbs known as Falls Church City. What exactly is questionable about the colors? Do you need paint codes so you can replicate them? Keep in mind that the RGB color space of the photo may not translate and appear the same as viewing the townhouses in person.

"Brockmont" is not a neighborhood. It is a physical point on a topo map marking the highest point of a rise in that area. It's pulled by Redfin, et. al. because, at that level within their systems they're simply pulling geo data that matches coordinates directly with no vetting beyond that. The listings and sales data do rely on further specifics defining neighborhoods and other recognized area designations. That's why you can't tell me any boundaries for "Brockmont."
