Looks like portions of every single road I drive on between Centreville and Mclean. What is your point? It is not like they have the money to start at one side of the county and repave every road till they hit the river.

The point is you're an idiot to think I'm talking about repaving. The potholes should be taken care of with some timeliness, not MONTHS after reporting it. Taken a reading comprehension test EVER?

Yes, yes I have. I also know the difference between half assing and properly fixing potholes. People like you want to see some road crew out there putting down hot patches that are going to fail in a matter of weeks, rather than cutting out that section of road and repaving it so it will last for years. Not sure how you want your tax dollars spent, but I would rather have shit fixed right the first time. Your "timeliness" is an exercise in futility and a waste of money.

while I don't condone the condition of those roads there are roads in far worse condition that should get attention sooner. I would nominate one near yours, Braddock Road EB from Kings Park to Queensberry would be one better candidate. There is a lane that is one constant series of potholes.

SHARING SOME INFORMATION.

To fix the potholes in a proper manner you need hot asphalt. All the plants are closed doing their environmental upgrades and maint to their asphalt making process. Look for that to start up in early March...maybe weather permitting.

Currently, everything is filled with a cold patch type asphalt that you buy in 5 gallon buckets. That product is not made to last.


Even the private maintained roads are in bad shape like the 95/395 and 495 express lanes. So you pay that high cost to use them to get your car damaged.


A lot of this problem goes back to Tim Kaine. He made it a law that NO VDOT EMPLOYEE COULD CONDUCT ANY WORK ON TH INTERSTATE UNLESS IT WAS AN EMERGENCY. THIS WORK SINCE 09 HAS BEEN, BY LAW CONTRACTED OUT. All of those employees were offered jobs of lesser pay and or a buy out and the ones that stayed majority of them ended up leaving. By contracting the work out the standard that the VDOT employees had to fill potholes was changed. Changed to benefit the contractor and the standard was lowered. Lowering the standard then allows for the infrastructure (such as asphalt and concrete surfaces) to fail. The next time traveling on 495 North after the Springfield Interchange. Look in the right lane when crossing over the bridge at the Washington Post Plant. The entire right lane of that concrete bridge has failed. The private contractor keeps filling it with asphalt. This has gone on for years. Nobody says anything about it. Look all over NOVA on the same roads you travel on each day and look at all the damaged guardrail safety items that lie around for months and never gets fixed. How it that protecting the public?

In reality VDOT is in the top 10% of all US state transportation departments and their cost per mile maintenance expenses are among the lowest in the nation. We are very lucky to have them.

The problem isn't the roads, it’s Loser Carpetbaggers moving here to find jobs because they don’t have the intelligence or character to to build a life elsewhere in this vast nation.

They don't have any money for decent roads in NoVa. They are spending it all on FABULOUS roads in other parts of the state and, of course, billions on illegal aliens.

I am going to be so happy to get out of this shithole in a few more months.
