Bezos always wanted Northern Va. I so a lot of work with their AWS HQ out in Reston. They were told early last summer that HQ2 was probably coming to this area - and not Maryland. It was either DC or somewhere in NoVa.

He owns the Post. He's building a mega-mansion in DC. He's supposedly made inquires into buying the Redskins from Snyder. He was always coming here. NY gave him a reason to do what he always wanted to do - put HQ2 in Virginia.

And Google is building a huge HQ east somewhere in Virginia. No reports on where yet, but could be the Dulles tract that Amazon passed on. New metro station dedicated to the site. Right next to Dulles. Within 5 miles of the eastern Internet spine that runs in the US, where 90% of all Internet traffic travels through. Amazon might put a bit of HQ2 out there as well.

No business can survive in the long term when its rate of return on capital is significantly below other alternatives.

However, you colossal moron, very few businesses are monopolies and have unlimited ability to pass on cost increases to consumers.

Everyone else either MUST raise prices (i.e. pass on the taxes to their consumers) to account for taxes and still maintain their required rate of return . . . or

they must stop selling certain products (and perhaps go out of business) if there is insufficient demand at the required price to maintain the required return on investment, when factoring in taxes.

Corporate taxes are ALWAYS passed on to consumers in some combination of higher prices and reduced availability of products.
