GOP badly misunderstands nature and popularity of GND
Posted by: Out of the loop ()

McConnell is prepping for a Senate show-vote on an early and still non-specific version of the Green New Deal. He thinks he can ‘trick’ Dems into voting for it, then somehow hang them for it later, even though the generalities of it rate very highly among the public. Last time he tried such a stunt, Dems simply voted ‘Present’ and that was the end of it. Not much more than that is likely to come from any of these current GOP shenanigans.

Stunts instead of policy? That’s the GOP alright.

The "Green New Deal" is never going to happen. It's the "America going broke Deal".

More proof that AOC — in office since early January — already has the GOP on a leash. They simply can’t deal with her.

Climate change is happening whether we decide to deal with it or not. The entire scope of GND might well prove in the end to be too broad or expensive to take on, but there are many components of it worthy of consideration, and talk about some strong set of approaches to environmental and other problems is long overdue.

Climate change? What happened to global warming? Oh, never mind that was last year. What will you libtards come up with next year? "Atmospheric denigration"? Sounds catchy.

The US will spend $5 trillion on the Dumb Green Deal(DGD) and China will continue polluting like a mother F'er negating all of our hard earned work, and dollars.

Proposed policy (and even sweeping infrastructure) changes
will not prevent -- probably not even minimize -- climate change.
It's already too late, the other countries will not go along,
and all that stuff would do is destroy America.

I need not mention how batshit crazy that AOC FAQ thing was.

However, let us be clear:

1. Climate Change is real.
2. It is caused by GLOBAL WARMING
3. It is caused largely by anthropogenic factors.
4. Some factors are natural and not in our control.
5. We could do a lot of things to make the environment better
for ourselves and our long-term future, some of which may
overlap with the "climate change" initiatives, even if they
won't really help much with global warming.

The terminology "Climate Change" was adopted because although
the earth is heating up on average ("global warming"), the
effects of this are not that it gets hot everywhere on earth.
It changes the weather patterns and some places get really hot,
some get a little hot, and some even get MUCH colder; in general
the effect is that the weather goes crazy over a long term.

That's why global warming can make it snow like crazy,
and why the water is not deeper at every beach in the world.

I am sure that you are also aware that weather systems are
complex and "chaotic". Chaotic doesn't mean "crazy ass",
it means "non-linear", which means "small change of one
variable can lead to huge change in some other variable".
And we don't know how to model those variables very well.
The point being -- and what scientists are worried about --
is that climate change is probably going to have sudden
effects. Once certain things get rolling, they snowball,
and probably impossible to stop. Once things get to a
certain point, it won't be "Gee it was never this wet
in Virginia before!". It will be "Fuck, the normal
temperature in Virginia is suddenly 99 degrees all year,
and all the plants and animals are fucked up."

Oh and all those places in the country we were growing
food died in the last two years, and now there's no food.
Well, there will be SOME food in a few seasons, probably.
grown elsewhere. If not wiped out by floods and tornados
and pestilence that wasn't there before. So just don't
eat or go outside for 18 months and then you can start
getting emergency rations doled out under martial law
because that's how we have to run the government now.
And shit.

Is that all hard to understand?

You'll notice I said that the proposals aren't liable
to help much, because we waited too late.

What people should be focusing on are not electric cars,
so much as where we are going to get food, and what kind
of seawalls need to be built, and what kinds of medical
and other services will be very important in the future,
and where the fuck will we get our energy from since
eventually we will fucking run out of things to frack!

AOC is like a chatty five year old. You want to encourage conversation, but don’t want to correct what comes out because you appreciate the ignorance.

We've been hearing this claptrap for over 30 years. Yet none of the alarmist predictions have come true. There may have been two true facts in al gores movie. It's nothing but a globalist socialist hoax to redistribute wealth. I especially like how the left ignores the fact that the U.S. is the only nation the achieve the Paris Accord goals, yet it's all offset by every other nation not even trying to abide by them.

Why are you so focused on AOC, Bernie, etc. when you have me, Ryan McElveen, right here in FFX County.

I have fully embraced the Green New Deal for FFX County and want FFX County to lead the way.

Psst! ALL of these 'alarmist predictions' are coming true, just more slowly than what your tiny little binary brains can recognize and process. GND is the future. We have to go there. The alternative would be quite horrible for our children and theirs.

GND will cost $40 trillion over 10 years. Add to that the free health care for all at $32 trillion over 10 years and free pre-school for all at $12 trillion over 10 years and free college for all at $5 trillion over 10 years and....

The fucking socialist commie democrats are looking to quadruple the annual deficit. You could seize (not just tax, but actually seize and sell off) all the wealth from the top 1% and you still couldn't pay for one year of the GND. Much less all the other 'free' stuff you retarded limpdicks are promising.

No my fellow pepes. Like all things democrat, the burden of their 'promises' will always fall almost exclusively on the upper-middle and middle class to shoulder. Only a fool would vote for a democrat unless you're very, very rich or very poor.

Crude people couldn’t get with Reggie Jackson either, but he was indeed the straw that stirred the drink. AOC is setting an agenda here and has the ignorant babbling reactionaries twisted up like a pretzel.
