It seems like it’s damn near impossible to get hired by them if you’re not black, disabled or a veteran. I applied for some IT help desk jobs and ISO job with the DHS. Never heard anything back.

It's obnoxious how hard a boner feds have for vets. No disrespect to them, but they're not the only ones out here with mouths to feed. Start out working at the contractor level then work your way up.

The feds hire on the basis of relevant experience and potential. If you lose out on some decent fed job, it's because they had no trouble finding candidates who were simply better than you.

The grass is always greener I guess. I got a do nothing fed job that pays $200,000 (I was making almost double that in the private sector), and it’s so incredibly fucking boring. Thank god I have unlimited internet on my phone. Thank god or I would have shot myself years ago.

Post Office is a miserable place to work. Horrible managers hire their relatives, and then promote them. There's a reason why employees go postal.

TSA will get you in the government. It's not too difficult. Then you can transfer to other government jobs.
