Personal property tax for out of state car

Need some Help Please

I have my car that I used to operate in ohio and all over the country, I only spend two week end every other month with my wife in Alexandria Va, the car in on my name, I have ohio licence plate my driver licence is Ohio, the car is registered in ohio, i'm registered to vote in ohio. In August 2017 I junked that car because it was irreparable I can prove that.
Now they sent me to collection for Taxes since my wife moved to virginia 2016 till 2018. What the hell!!!???
Could anyone please help, how I can fight this?

You used our local roads while you were here. Pay the tax. It's not worth having a heart attack or stroke over a few hundred $$.

If you junk a car that is no longer driven, you either have to return the license and registration plates to Ohio when you bought your new car, or fill out the paperwork to get the plates and registration transferred to your new car. if you consider yourself an Ohio citizen and own a home there, you have to do it there. If you and your wife are homeowners in Virginia assuming you are married, then you will also be paying taxes in Virginia. Virginia charges tax on all property kept in Virginia and when you move in to a place from out of state you only have a set amount of time to change over your registration. Go to the Virginia DMV and explain the situation to them and find out the law on this. Any car they find loitering parked for more than 6 months with a registration that has expired they will hit you with fines etc, do not ever underestimate the length Va will go to collect taxes owed.

You need to pay the tax.

I pay all my taxes plus an extra 10% for the poor and to promote income equality and help with global warming.

There are 365 days in a year. In which state do you spend more of those days than any other state? Sounds like it's Virginia. In which case, you are domiciled in Virginia and you should be registering your vehicle here, getting your driver license here, paying taxes here, etc.
