Looking for a good bra fitting in NoVa area
Posted by: fourleaf ()

Ladies - any place around here that does a good old fashioned bra fitting? Dell's Bra Boutique in Fairfax closed and I'm not sure where else around here does a professional fitting. I'm looking for the kind of place where little old ladies that have been sizing up breasts for 40 years come out and measure and make you lean over and chastise you for having grooves in your shoulders.

What is you current height and weight?

Do you have Daddy issues?

Uh Huh I know I'm going to get the flames but I was hoping for some good advice tucked in all the requests for at-home fittings and pics. If I couldn't take it I wouldn't be posting on FU :)

Oh and no daddy issues...

Trousseau off of Rt 123 in Vienna. Good mix of older women and overweight, pimple-faced teenagers.

There's also The Full Cup in Alexandria, VA
http://www.thefullcup.com/

I heard Trousseau is good too, although i am told they focus more on that bride-to-be population

check out reviews on yelp.com

Yes, given the name, but they do fittings and have a big ass wall o' bras. A bit pricey, but from what I'm told it's worth it. They have stuff for guys (cologne) and they have really good chocolates too. (all of the above, btw, is no-homo...I just know all this because I dated an ex-employee)

Supposedly Victoria's Secret will do a proper fitting.

I buy all of my bras at Trousseau. Yes, you'll end up spending more but the quality makes up for it. They carry a wide range of sizes and a lot of sexy European brands like Aubade. And they are happy to order different colors/sizes for you.

Supposedly being the key word. Their bras sucks and their employees don't actually do a proper fitting.

I like the Full Cup in Old Town Alexandria. Cute little personal boutique by appointment only. Beautiful bras especially for those of us who are larger on top but now overweight!

Agreed Genevieve (this is Susan, btw) - I hate VS bras that fall apart quickly and offer little support. I'll check out Trousseau's and probably give The Full Cup a whirl.

Thanks for all the tips!

I may check out the Full Cup too... It is hard to find bras with a large cup size that don't have a large band size. Even at trousseau it limits your choices and they are the best I've found.

That' s the problem I have, The full figure bras are all 40 or 42, but the 36-38 bras only go to D.

You'd think that a society that loves tits so much would do more to support them! ;-)

At just 5'4", I need a 32 or 34. I completely understand how frustrating it is to see that all of the bras with the right cup size are a 40 or larger.

Sorry to hear that Dell's closed. I'd also recommend Trosseau. They are expensive, but do free alterations which is especially important if you are a non-standard size, like I am (31 C/D...try finding that size).

Trousseau carries 300AA through 56N yes I said N cup size, hundreds of styles and sizes, free alteration, trained fitters and free alterations and special oders, they've been there for over 11 years so yes I say they know what they're doing and have found you get what you pay for!

I personally do not likeknow Trousseau, but there is this new boutique in Fairfax Corner, Belle Mode Intimates, that just opened that does an amazing job and has great customer service. I read about them online and their sister store has been around for over 50for years and is an award winning bra fitting shop! The owner is super nice too.

If you're on a tighter budget, Macy's fair oaks offers bra fittings and are very good, at least in my experience. Fwiw, I've been 100% happy with supportive Vanity Fair bras. They're pretty too. I've been fitted in higher end boutiques as well, not locally, and Macy's personal were just as nice and professional as the boutiques IMO.

How about bras for breast cancer patients? Just had reconstruction and underwires are out. Need something nicer than a sports bra all the time.

If you are looking for a store that sells your size (meaning you have issues fining your size), going to a department store is useless. And Victoria's Secret is a stupid overpriced store with crappy merchandise. Trousseau is actually a good place to start. If you are a ridiculous size like I unfortunately am (34G) they have a selection and if they do not have one on hand, you can see how the size smaller fits/looks and order you the larger one. The average bra runs you about 65, but the sexy stuff will run you about 85. It does cater to wedding stuff, but they have a huge selection of your standard everyday things as well.

They are the only store I have found that has my size so I'd check it out.

More than 85% of women wear the wrong sized bra. The biggest mistake is the rib cage is too big and the cup is too small. It isn't your fault, traditional stores carry only 24-32 sizes, we have hundreds for all body types and sizes. We can fit from a 28 to 52 rib cage and from a AA to N cup. Our Products are Designed to help relieve neck, back,& shoulder pain. Untraps breast tissue from under the arm into our support triangle. The weight is supported from underneath the breasts and not from the shoulders straps. We provide support and lift and assure that your breasts are positioned where they are suppose to be when wearing a bra. They are designed with the highest quality and will not fall apart on you like most bras. You have to try it to believe it! Call for your free fitting.
