That's correct, but the massive failure of Bush's economic policies had begun in 2002 and effectively peaked in the Spring of 2006 when the real estate market broke and started to decline. By mid-2007 we were in the throes of a full-blown crisis of credit, and since nothing meaningful was done about that at the time, the rest became a fait accompli.

Obama inherited a worse economic situation than any President since FDR. The policies his administration developed, adopted, and pursued were spectacularly successful, but were limited in their effect by active opposition to economic recovery among asshole TEA Party dipshit GOP morons on Capitol Hill.
