Elementary School Ranking
Posted by: FFXTaxpayer24 ()
Date: January 10, 2019 10:59AM

I just read that Brookfield ES in Chantilly is now ranked 945 out of 1097 Virginia Elementary Schools. Some 20 years ago this was a 5 star school in the Top 50 for the area.
So what and why did it happen?

Brookfield ES is 40.2% Hispanic and only 19.8% Caucasian. And 51.3% free or discounted lunches. Couldn't find out how many ESL students, but it could be more than 50%. Test scores are substantially below state averages.

Illegal aliens have been dragging down Fairfax County schools for YEARS and it's only getting worse.

It's a public school. Does it really matter where it ranks? Sending children to public school is a form of child abuse.

The idiot above who is too stupid to figure out the ethnic makeup of an elementary school is the prime example of the morons public schools are releasing into our society.

I actually knew all these figures posted by Number One Deplorable but I compliment you for posting them. I knew that since the early 1990's it has gone downhill and it wasn't brain surgery as to why. In the early 1990's many in the Chantilly and Centreville district were in the Top 100 for the entire State of Virginia.

Yes, many parts of Fairfax County have followed suit and the education system is more or less doomed with many of the teachers now retiring. Which teachers are replacing them, well, you'll have a tough road ahead.

Unbelievable.

When you add it all up, I would bet that they are spending at LEAST 75% of the money allocated to that school on kids from families which aren't even American. VERY little left over for actual Americans.

So really, WTF do you expect?

Because you keep electing leftists to the School Board and County Commission who care far, FAR, more about illegal aliens than they do about you and your family.

There's really nothing the local governments can do to control the undocumented immigrant population growth. Enforcement is a federal matter and depends on ICE's resources. The whole "sanctuary city" talking point is also BS.

Most new development projects I've seen are centered around expensive condos, town homes, and housing; most zoning decisions I've seen don't add to the issue.

These are just natural shifts in population. Fairfax County schools got a rep for being some of the best, and so, lots of people moved here, including undocumented immigrants.

They are illegal aliens. The taxpYers of Fairfax County should not have their schools overrun by illegal aliens. If the School Board chooses to put so many in each school additional resources need to be found to bring their scores up. It is hurting property values.

If the School Board is placing all these migrants in our schools, we need additional resources! My school has 350 of them. It isn’t fair to put so many one school! Let some other school take care of them. I am tired of it.it is affecting property values!

Schools with high instances of poverty get federal grants for additional teachers and coaches.

The resources being provided are not getting the job done. Abysmal scores are driving down home values!

We need additional resources. Why don’t they treat it as they do the gifted program and put them into schools where they could get additional help? The savings to the schools would be tremendous as you wouldn’t have to hire all the Seoul teachers at each school!

Separate schools wouldn't work. You'd essentially need to fund two bus systems, more admin staff, janitors, etc... SOL teachers at each school is way more efficient, and the results are pretty good.

Most gifted and talented programs are in the same schools as the regular kids. Yeah, there are some magnet schools, but its a small minority of kids that attend them.

Your post is the BS here. Of COURSE there are MANY things the BoS could do to discourage illegal aliens (THAT is what they are) from moving here. For one thing, immediately repeal the dumbass policy they approved to prevent law enforcement from cooperating with ICE. Every single motherfucking illegal that gets arrested for ANY reason including jaywalking should be held as long as legally possible and immediately reported to ICE.

The BoS should go to all media outlets and announce this new policy, and that they will be doing everything they can legally do to make illegal aliens as uncomfortable and unwelcome as possible in FFX County. They should pass a law setting a very low threshold for the number of nonrelated persons who can occupy one domicile and announce that they will be aggressively enforcing this new law, with a hotline set up for people to report suspected violators. All of the illegals hanging out on corners in Dunn Loring and Annandale looking for work should be arrested for loitering and vagrancy and, again, reported to ICE.

They should also pass and aggressively enforce a law making it an imprisonable offense to rent a house or apartment to an illegal alien,

The School Board should announce that all ESL classes will be at the maximum legally permissible size and that they will be devoting the minimum resources required by law to ESL classes. If it is legally possible the school should renounce all federal money for free or subsidized lunches and stop providing them.

Then just watch how fast the fuckers relocate to Arlington, Alexandria, PW County, Loudon, or out of the state altogether.

" held as long as legally possible" is the key point here. If there is no local legal reason to hold someone, it is legally dubious whether local law enforcement can legally hold someone while ICE twiddles their thumbs. Not to mention the cost involved with jailing everyone for every little offense would be cost prohibitive. We can't afford it.

There are plenty of legal immigrants and non-immigrants who aren't related who live in the same domicile. Shucks, empty-nesters rent out bedrooms to college kids.

This is again a matter of resources, especially on ICE's side of things. They don't have the capability to keep up with any sort of ramped up enforcement on Fairfax's side of things.

> They should also pass and aggressively enforce a

State-level anti-discrimination laws regarding landlord conduct prohibit this. Take it up with the state legislature.

There are plenty of children from poor families who are legally here, and need those subsidized lunched. Unless you want to deal with starvation issues and what comes with that at your doorstep.

Never going to happen, as all your proposed measures are illegal and/or unworkable.

You have issues in any case if you write "the scores on tests is awful!"

Meanwhile, the courses that you are pretty obviously failing would be no different whether there were or were not immigrant students at your school. That AVERAGE test scores went down would not mean that YOUR test scores went down. You would be getting the same effective or ineffective education as always with and without immigrant kids being down the hall trying to get an education of their own.

Progturds like illegal ESL students because they are too ugly to find a 'partner' (new progspeak for wife) , have 'erectile' issues and can't get it up to reproduce, or their 'partners' aborted her kid.

Most of these quality declines have four causes: 1) Students who don't have an adequate command of English; 2) Students, including transfers and new placements, who enter the school without the educational foundation to do the work; 3) Parents who see the school as a social service entity to feed, provide day care and provide other no educational services rather than as an educational entity; and 4) People who believe the school should be trying to meet the unique educational needs of each individual student rather than meeting the common educational needs of the student body as a whole.

Notice that nowhere in that list does "illegal immigrant" appear. Only one of the four problems is immigrant based. If we are serious about improving school quality the debate cannot be centered on immigration.

Good news is that all of these problems can be significantly improved. Some of the solutions are structural. Some are philosophical. Some involve both. Plus the solutions could be implemented in a way that would not be much costlier than the current system. The solutions though are ones that are not going to make either the left or the right happy and they are going to piss off certain vested interests in the school system and in the community.

They are illegal immigrants and our school’s rating has dropped a lot. It used to be one of the best in the area. Now there are 350 illegal immigrants and they are definitely dragging down the scores. It has affected our home values.

What is the solution? Why must one school be burdened with this? These children should be sent to a center based learning environment.

FCPS does not track immigration status. You see 350 Hispanic students and you presume they must all be illegal. That is because you are too stupid to be taken seriously around here.

Illegal immigrants is a great excuse. Racist right wingers can use it for obvious reasons. Others elsewhere on the political spectrum use it as well for different reasons. The one thing both groups have in common is that they have little interest in improving the quality of education our schools provide within the limits of existing funding levels. The quality of education problem would continue to exist even if all illegal immigrants and their children were removed from the County. So do we work to try and solve the educational quality problem or are we simply going to use it as a way to further other agendas.
