driver improvement program--for juveniles, is it any different?

The fairfax juvenile court gave me a sheet with what class they reccomend, but it is rediculous to drive out to fairfax twice, its too far, and the setup is stupid, i would rather do another program that is closer to me. However, i am a little confused. I know there are tons of driver improvement programs, but these advertise to get points off your record. I do not need that really, i need it basically because it gets the ticket off my record, i dunno they could be the same thing--giving the same certificate at the end of the course. I am just wondering if all these other programs out there are accepted. I have asked countless people and they dont understand what i mean, so it may be just that all these programs are accepted. I know they are accepted by DMV, just not sure if for this specific thing that i have- being a juvenile and to get the ticket off my record. I mean i guess if i had the ticket points would be taken off, so maybe essentially they are the same thing...
