Fact Check: Did Democrats really approve an immigration bill that included $46.3 billion for border security back in 2013?
Posted by: True or False? ()

Yes they did. This is true. At one time Democrats supported keeping America safe, now they want to choke the population with giveaways to criminal aliens.

That was before Chuck decided he was the emperor or the US and nothing could be done without his approval.

The bill provided a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants already here, so long as they were law abiding. Democrats didn't want the wall but were willing to sign off on it because it would have been a fair exchange. The GOP o course torpedoed the bill. Otherwise, we'd have a wall today.

Trump is asking for wall funding while offering nothing in return....

Read the whole fucking story:

"All 52 Senate Democrats, joined by 14 Republicans and 2 independent senators, did vote in favor of a 2013 immigration bill that included substantial funding for border security. The bill, sponsored by Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer, was never voted on by the House of Representatives, which was controlled by the GOP at the time."

So what this tells you is NOT that Democrats wanted to spend huge amounts for a border wall in 2013. It says they wanted IMMIGRATION REFORM badly enough that they were willing to provide large amounts for BORDER SECURITY in order to get it. Republicans in the House refused to go along with this deal. They even refused to allow it to go to a vote.

So you Republicans had your chance. YOU REPUBLICANS BLEW IT. You gambled that you could get Border Security without having to pay the price of Immigration Reform. You proved to be wrong. And now you are crying foul because the Democrats won't give you today what they were willing to offer you in 2013. Crybabies.

We don't need immigration reform. Current laws are fine. Democrats refuse to enforce them and protect Americans. Who would agree with that? Only people who hate Americans. It's very simple to understand so it's no wonder demoncrats can't.

So the Constitution is your law. Then tell me where in the Constitution it states that the Federal government gets to decide who comes into this country and who doesn't. The framers did give the Federal government the authority to set uniform rules of naturalization, but did not include a provision stating the Federal government could control immigration. For most of the first hundred years of U.S. history it was the states and not the Federal government that controlled immigration. While the Federal government did exercise its power to set naturalization requirements it left it to the states to administer those laws. The Tenth Amendment states the powers not expressly granted to the Federal government or prohibited to the states are reserved for the states and the people. So if the Constitution truly is your law, then it is the sanctuary cities that are abiding by the law and the Trump administration which is not.

While Congress has the Constitutional authority to establish laws of naturalization or immigration they do not have a true Constitutional authority to create blanket legislation that allows non – citizens the rights of born or naturalized Americans. In other words amnesty is technically unconstitutional because it bypasses the laws which are established for immigrants to become American citizens.

The beginning of the Preamble of the Constitution states clearly who gives authority to the government and in whom the rights established in the Constitution belong to and they are,” We the People of the United States.
Those who immigrate citizenship must be given by the rule of law. The Framers made it very clear that the law must first be satisfied before the rights of citizenship are available. Each Constitutional reference to our rights and privileges are for the people who are the citizens only.

Anyone who enters in or resides in this country has the privilege given by the authority of the people to share in our freedoms and rights. Citizenship though is not a right that is given nor the privileges of citizenship to any immigrant whether legal or illegal until they have been established by the laws of naturalization as Americans.

Birth gives Americans the right of citizenship but to those who immigrate citizenship must be given by the rule of law. The Framers made it very clear that the law must first be satisfied before the rights of citizenship are available. Each Constitutional reference to our rights and privileges are for the people who are the citizens only.

The Framers realized that once the freedoms and liberties that we have in this country became known to the world that The United States would become a melting pot of cultures and nationalities from all over the world. But they also understood the necessity of keeping our identity as Americans and in establishing a uniform rule of law for gaining citizenship in America and having as born and naturalized citizens the rights and privileges as an American!

You are referring to Article I, Section 8, Clause 4.
It means exactly that the federal government controls immigration --
that's what "rules of naturalization" means. Naturalization is
the process of allowing someone to be a citizen; sovereign nations
are understood to have borders that keep non-citizens out, except
as guests if the government allows that.

I speak it. I read it. Immigration isn't there. And states had controlled immigration prior to the adoption of the Constitution and continued to do so for decades afterwards. This isn't to say the Federal government shouldn't in a well ordered union be the one to decide who comes in and who doesn't. It does mean though if you are taking the position that we should be throwing immigrants out and sanctioning sanctuary cities you can't wrap yourself in the Constitution.

A chain fence (5' high) is about $15/ft in "normal situations" (there should be savings at scale).

about 5k ft per mile so that's about $80k mi

with 46.3 billion that's 584,596 MILES TO BE SURE

which means you could have had "Long Fence" install 292 COMPLETE fences along the complete border for the same money

just an estimate!

with 292 fences you might get over a 5' fence easy but you'd be tired and bloodly if you hopped all 292 !

292 hurdles is 29 times what is jumped in an olympic event (i'm pretty sure your going to fall!)

it's 7.3 times around a full 400m track with hurdles (note olympic event does only 10 of them)

That spending included $30 billion to train at least 19,200 additional border patrol agents on the southern border and $4.5 billion to carry out a border security strategy developed by the Department of Homeland Security. The bill would have also given $8 billion for fencing, infrastructure and technology, as well as $750 million for E-Verify, a system to help employers ensure their employees are legally allowed to work in the U.S.
