To the jackass OP
First, teachers work 194 days a year, not 180 ... you're missing three full weeks. Or do you think lesson planning, team meetings, grading, professional development all happens on our own time? BTW - a lot of it still does happen on our own time.
Second - just because we get 12 sick days doesn't mean we use them. Why? It's more work creating a lesson plan that a halfwit can execute (which most subs are since they aren't paid crap) then to just go in sick and suck it up. I'm a 20 year FCPS veteran and I have over 130 days of rolled over leave on the books that I will never use and get paid out for pennies on the dollar.
Third - as for you calculation - that was based on a seven hour day. I've been at work a minimum of ten hours every day this week - helping kids, running a club, grading, planning, copying.
Before you start spouting BS numbers you know nothing of - actually go into a school and see what a teacher does. Go in and volunteer. Help a club. Support an activity.
But you won't, because it's a lot easier spouting bullshit from your couch than to actual do something.
