Bye Bye Taco Bell Vienna

I heard that the Taco Bell in Vienna is going to be replaced with a Starbucks. Why do we need a third Starbucks?

Goodbye good ole Vienna.

Vienna meals tax strikes again. If you open a restaurant in Vienna, you need to have your head examined.

Don’t worry Taco Bell lovers, there is one only 5 minutes away from the closed one, on Old Courthouse rd.

Taco Bells come and go. They are no big deal. In this case, Starbuck's wanted the drive-thru, so they went after it.

Cars driven by millenial cucks will be backed up on route 123 waiting for drive-in service. They will do anything for $5 cups of coffee. Dopes!

Starbucks peak hours are during the AM rush. That would affect northbound 123, but the drive-thru store is on the southbound side of 123 with a center turn-lane and synchronized traffic lights half a block away in each direction.

Several new restaurants recently opened in the strip that
has the Panera and Foster's: MOD pizza, Taco Bamba, and CHOPT.

There are also a bunch of new asian places in Vienna,
like Ariake, MoMo House, that opened in the last couple
of months and some others.

How are they doing?

Ariake is in Reston. Momos are Nepali wontons or potstickers. Momo House is pretty much a carry-out place. Stop and get some. See if you Iike them.

I always liked that old school sign they had out front. I wonder if they never changed it because they were grandfathered in and Vienna wouldn't let them update it the way they like.

The Tiwn Donut Shop was grandfathered in. After some fuss, Taco Bell was allowed to take over thw location when the donut-maker retired.

How many coffee shops are there in Vienna? There's a new coffee shop three doors from Taco Bell, in the old KFC location.

Coffee shops might outnumber banks soon.

Too soon to say. Vienna's meal tax is like ether. Just give it time and it will put your business to sleep every time.

Don't fret, you are not technically getting "another" coffee place. "An employee said that both of the existing Starbucks locations in Vienna are being closed in April, with staff consolidated to the new drive-through location one block away."

I still think vehicles entering/exiting the new Startbucks location is going to be a mess. It is almost too close to the intersection. It would actually be nice if they would let the Starbucks customers go through the bank parking lot and use the traffic lights at Branch/Maple to get out.

No one wants to stop ANYWHERE along Maple Ave in Vienna during rush hour or on Saturdays. The traffic is such a nightmare on that road - thanks to the Town of Vienna's policy of intentionally mistiming the lights - that folks just want to get the hell through it and get on to work (morning) or home (evening). I wouldn't own a business on that road in Vienna if my life depended on it.

MOD Pizza, it's a great portion for the price, but, always a butt. After 18 months the one closest to me still can't cook a damn pizza properly. The oven is too hot, the bottom of the pie gets burned while the dough under three whole toppings is still raw. Honestly, if they could cook it properly I'd eat there once a week.

That's a shitty drive-thru. I challenge anyone to not scuff their tires on the curbs.

MOD Pizza thinks their special prebaked pie crust makes it work, but they don't realize that the toppings need to be cooked at higher heat for at least 15 minutes.

Same problem at Firenza. Pizza needs to be cooked longer and at higher heat.

Even Sbarro is better. There, small pies are not cooked to order for a reason.

your an idiot. it's a NY franchise. it was designed to be CLOSED.

they build those places like a grass hut. when they get dirty and run down and fail to meet health code

they fire all their employees - who they never really paid and were 1/2 paid on welfare. who will never get retirement pay. who cannot sue, per say, because there is no longer any store or employer. "reducing liability"

they plow them over and build whatever franchise they think is currently best

When I drove by on Friday evening the new Starbucks looked like they just started remodeling it. I guess they must be working some serious hours to have that place ready to go this week.
