FCPS & Friday's snow

What do you think they will do about school tomorrow? I am thinking(hoping) that since they have already missed a few days, they will start on time and just let out early. They would look pretty stupid if they cancelled the whole day and it did not snow until the afternoon. On the other hand, if it comes down hard in late morning it could be a messy ride home.

My guess it depends on how long school would have to be in session to count as a day. If radar is showing that things will start around 10am and closing at 10:30 wouldn't have the day count as a school day anyway then it doesn't make sense to move everyone around for nothing.

As long as the children are served lunch, it is considered a full school day. Therefore, if they can get the lunch in and then get the kids home before we get hit with Mother Nature's tactical nuke they could do it.

My bet is they close school down in anticipation. Virginia has already declared a State of Emergency. FFX Co. has caught shit every time the snow hit faster/harder than anticipated and kids don't get home until 7pm.

make them all stay at school over the weekend to make up days already missed. They aren't going to be going anywhere anyways!

I don't know why the schools even worry about snow make-up days. They do absolutely nothing after SOLs anyhow.

What fries me is kids jamming the stores, malls, movies, ice rink, etc on a "snow day". If the snow is so bad they can't get to school, they should stay home.

FCPS could have EASILY gone all day today. The snow hasn't even stuck to the roads yet and it's almost 4pm. At the VERY least they could have gone and gotten out 2 hours early.
