So that was a pretty wild game there at Westfield. Chantilly gave it their best shot but their defense was just unable to handle both the running and passing game of Westfield. Westfield defense was porous but let's be honest - their best defensive player was held out of the game and by the time he was allowed to play Chantilly had already scored 3 TDs. They didn't get a first down the next three series after he went into the game. Nonetheless, if they plan to play more than 1 or 2 more games they got a lot garbage to clean up.

I dunno man, it was and still is on the official student section twitter feed. Taunting Kim over his broken leg. Not cool. Can't believe the school didn't make them delete it.

That’s what I am saying. What makes it the official Twitter. It’s not run by the school. It’s run by kids. It wasn’t cool what they said. I agree. They got what they deserved tonight. Still it was a fun game to watch. I think it would be fun to see it again. Both teams could play again in two weeks. Chantilly just needs to clean things up and advance.

I see Doc continues his streaks against SoCo, this game wasn't as close as the score indicates.
For whatever reason, Doc cant get his teams up for the big games!
From what I can see LB should win their 1st round game, then lose in the 2nd round to either TC, MTV or SoCo.

LB has way to much talent, I cant understand why they cant make a deep run in the playoffs every year

Student sections are terrible. A lot of parents are terrible. The things they chant they way they scream and cuss at officials. Where are the school administrators to end that stuff. This is high school football after all. The kids in the stands are the worst because they sit there and make fun of kids and say horrible things online and at the end of the day are too afraid to put pads on and play.

In response to the idiot who asked about Yorktown barely beating WL and saying they must not be very good. You need to remember this was a rivalry game between two schools that are next to each other and some students attended the same middle schools together. The underdog rises up to play their neighbor school and all bets are off. It's about heart, pride, bragging rights and just a dog fight marking territory.

Add to that the breakdown of the student demographics at the three schools based on the neighborhoods they draw from. That also has a bearing on the rivalry games as Yorktown is by far the most affluent district, with WL in the middle and Wakefield on the bottom of the ladder.

Check out the student parking lots at the three schools and you can see the divide.

I attended the Yorktown vs WL game last night, and here are my takeaways. Yorktown isn’t as good as everyone thinks they are, they could barely move the ball on offense besides for an 80 yard TD run where there was a missed hold. Their defense on the other hand was very good the entire game. WL could barely move the ball on Yorktown’s defense, and were bailed out a few times by roughing the passer or dead ball penalties. WL shot themselves in the foot on the last drive with multiple holding penalties. WL did a good job of containing the QB and sacked him 4 times. He did have one nice play where he rolled out and hit #11 down the field for a 40 yard gain which set up their first TD. I understand it’s a rivalry game and it was apparent by the 2 student sections. After the game when the Yorktown student section rushed WL’s field to celebrate, the WL fans ran onto the field and tried to fight the Yorktown student section.

Saw the WF/tilly game through the 3rd quarter. WF shut them down after halftime. Don't know if the Chargers got too cold or if WF's D finally decided to play Simmons football. Credit that they made it a game in the first half. Best Chantilly team I've seen in a decade at least

So if these matchups were accurate...it would seem Spartans actually benefitted from losing last night

They beat tcw inside in the areas first indoor game and wouldn’t playing 9 of 10 outside for the year favor the Spartans over the titans?

All that said, I certainly didn’t think wshs was going to have this type of season...seems like they were much more potent with offense with Parker calling plays etc

That said, ifs and buts, but if they don’t play forest park at the start of the season....does anyone else think they probably would’ve been 5-4 going into robo game?

Someone had said them being 6-3 was a surprise which I’d totally agree with but when you look at the schedule and the numbers this season does honestly end out looking like the last 3 or so...starting fast and strong but fading and dropping games to superior teams (LB, SoCo, etc). Not trying to knock this years record but just feel it looks better on paper because the offense was much more potent and they also had couple cupcake victories.

The issue for the squad moving forward isn’t going to be can the coaches and team get there but can they figure out how to take the next step and get back to a place where they can legitimately compete against LB and SoCo...wshs problem continues to be a lack of size and depth and truly until they can overcome that 6-4/7-3/5-5 seasons will probably be the norm...enough to beat who they should but not enough to get over the hump

And I think the hump really has more to do with the fact that the stronger/bigger athletes/parents see the higher end success of soco and LB and find ways to target themselves into those programs over wshs

I know I’m sounding like a douche to the team but I honestly did not think they would do as well as they did this year so seriously hats off to the Coach Parker and the squad on a solid season no one saw coming (I will go eat crow now)

Watched the worst officiating in history last night at the Madison-C’Ville game. Missed several pass interference calls, Two fumbles, and waived off at least 5 penalties. On one play they called the play down, had a zebra conference while one moved the chains, then dropped a flag and called a penalty after the fact. Hope they don’t t do a playoff game.

What’s wrong buddy? Did daddy hurt you? Then never said sorry? If “discussing” football makes you feel like a man then have at it junior. Obviously, daddy and Uncle Tony never apologized for what they did to you. So go talk about football, drive your big lifted truck, drink beer and be a “MAN”. You bitch. That’s it for me cutie.

Doc should have kept running counter and throwing the ball to Hebner in the first half, they might have not been down 28-0 at the half. He sucks! LB has D1 cats everywhere, Soco has tougher high schoolers. You win with high schoolers, just ask Woodbridge.

Nothing wrong with the coaching at Lake Braddock, if the players dont play hard and do what the coaches say, that's not the coaches fault.

This coaching staff has done a great job, these boys are 8-2 and headed to the playoffs.
Now that's really something because the scheduled they played this year was one of the hardest in the state.

Go Bruins!

Lol Howard has shown absolutely nothing fundamentally as a receiver... kids fast but not much else, he runs subpar routes. That Madison kid has shown me he can run trees at all 3 levels, can go win any jump ball and still runs a solid 4.6...

As usual the social media conscious coaches at Braddock already have already their players listed.

Maybe they should focus on beating Robinson then posting about individual awards.

Doc hasn't done very well in the playoffs, so look for Robinson to upset Braddock, then they can post that all over social media

VHSL really needs to look at the playoffs and they should be revised.
These matchups are ridiculous!

Falls Church vs South County
Justice vs Mt Vernon
Wakefield vs Westfield
Lee vs Briar Woods

South County: will put a beatdown on Falls Church like no other they have seen. Aziz will realize now, why he isn't coaching at a higher level. Stone Bridge last year and now this, stay home turn your gear in. This will not look good on your resume

Mt Vernon: will score 70 points in this game. Stuart/Justice, what ever you school name is, turn your gear in now, avoid the humiliation.

Westfield: will be smart they get up by 40 in the 1st quarter and play their JV the rest of the game. They still could win by 60

Lee was 1-9 and made the playoffs, Do I need to really say anything about that?

I agree Robinson over Braddock
With Docs track record in the playoffs not being so good and he doesn't seem to get the team ready to play in big games. They are still shook from Soco and really dont want to play them again.

Yeah, by allowing 8 teams per region into the playoffs the lower tier teams just aren't that good.

ROBO runs ball well and will control clock. If you apply pressure LB will turn ball over. LB should win but pressure seems to bother LB for some reason.

Are you really going to try and compare the quality of athletes from Falls Church to SOCO? Church getting smashed has nothing to do with Aziz. Look at what that guy has done with that school. They were in the doghouse for years. He should have gotten an opportunity last season. He should get one for next season. Bottom line is they were 6-1 and then the talent they had got hurt and haven’t played. That place has zero depth. Surprised they are even D6.

They should consider going with a six-team format. The top two seeds would have a bye in the first round. It is stupid that 60% of the teams make the playoffs.

How dare you suggest VHSL eliminate 94 first round revenue generating games. Don't care if teams get blown out. Money money money!! Money!

60% is ridiculous. It is all about the gate receipts. VHSL should cut the number of teams to six for many reasons - one that a handful of players will also go out for basketball and those teams are impacted for a few weeks waiting for the FB season to be finally over.

Thanks for proving my point by posting your homosexual fantasies about an anonymous poster on a backwater web forum. Don't you see how no one wants to talk football with you because your homosexualism is so obvious that your estrogen flows through our screens. Perhaps hormone treatments can help you.

I just assumed 2up 2down was a chick. Could be gay, but I figured with all that emotion in his/her posts, he/she was one of those team mom types.

Broad Run bump down to 4A so they can avoid Highland Springs and coach Griffis can add a state banner to his and his sons name? I think so. Mickey is lucky they did drop down at least he can still make it to week 15 so he can get embarrassed by the Springers yet again.

Just out of curiosity, what evidence can you offer to suggest BR had any control over whether they were classified as Class 4 or Class 5?

Griffis saw SB and Tusky get smoked by Springers and he saw that wanted none of that action. No NOVA team wants any part of Highland Springs. Y’all scared of them.

I will bet you a gazillion dollars that OS and Fr-W won’t meet in the state championship game. (They’re on the same side of the brackets fool)
But you are right about FR-W getting some new players next year.

1. Annandale @ Mount Vernon (-35)
- MV wins and covers, 42-0.

2. Broad Run @ Stone Bridge (-10)
- Broad Run wins 35-21. Boy oh boy is Mickey glad BR is 4A or what? Broad Run is my favorite in 4A. (Louisa County, Lake Taylor, EC Glass are all also very good, too.)

3. Chantilly @ Westfield (-21)
- WF wins, but does not cover. 47-34.

4. Edison (-7) @ Lee
- Edison won and covered, 33-23.

5. Fairfax @ Woodson (-7)
- WTW handles Fairfax, 35-0.

6. Herndon @ South Lakes (-28)
- SL was up 48-0 at halftime... They won 54-6.

7. Langley (-7) @ McLean
- McLean won 14-7. Bragging rights! Langley was the hardest team to pick all season much. Get rid of Tre Vasiliadis, and Langley has next to nothing.

8. Madison (-14) @ Centreville
- Madison won and covered, 26-10.

9. Marshall (-10) @ Wakefield
- Marshall won, but did not cover... 21-14. Both teams made the playoffs. Marshall got the better draw of the two.

10. Robinson @ West Springfield (-10)
- Robinson won 44-30. Good win for the Rams.

11. South County (-7) @ Lake Braddock
- SoCo won and covered 40-29. Score was not indicative of how this game. SoCo was up 28-0 and let their foot off the gas. The Stallions are legit.

12. Stuart (-7) @ Falls Church
- JEB won and covered, 30-10... Keeping The Bell.

13. West Potomac (-24) @ Hayfield
- WP won, but did not cover. 28-21. Nightmare ends for the Hawks,

14. Yorktown (-35) @ Washington-Lee
- Yorktown won a close one, 17-10.

Round 1 of the playoffs! Not very many close games on tap this weekend, mainly due to VHSL allowing so many teams in. I agree with the poster who said a 6 team playoff would be more beneficial. I know its Class 5, but 1-9 Lee should not be allowed to be in the playoffs. Highland Springs owns Class 5, they’ll win another ring this year. My top 3 in Class 6 would be Oscar Smith, Freedom, and….. South County, over Westfield… Thoughts?

1. Centreville @ Madison (-10)
- Re-Match from last Friday night. Centreville kept it close for a little, but Madison is more physical and pulled away. Expect the same this week as well, unless Centreville does something different.

2. John Champe @ Freedom-Woodbridge (-35)
- Ridiculously loaded Freedom squad. They won 84-0 last Friday…. No typo either. Looking forward, the Freedom vs. Oscar Smith game is going to be great.

3. Falls Church @ South County (-42)
- Over by halftime. FC with 3 bad losses to end the year. Brock Spalding is one of the best receivers around, and only a sophomore! Should have offers from every major power 5 school by the time he’s a senior.

4. Lee @ Briar Woods (-38)
- 1-9 team should not be allowed in the playoffs. Give BR a bye week instead, or let TJ play Briar Woods.

5. Marshall @ Yorktown (-28)
- At least Marshall won last week and escaped Westfield. Lets see how Yorktown looks when it counts…

6. Robinson @ Lake Braddock (-14)
- Co-Game of the week. About 10 years ago, these two played every year in the playoffs, and the winner of the regular season almost always lost the second time in the playoffs…. Just saying! Billy Edwards (or Yorktown QB) is my regional QB of the year. Imagine if he had Spalding from SoCo...

7. South Lakes @ Chantilly (-13)
- Okay Chantilly, let’s see how y’all play now! South Lakes should be a win, but we’ll see. Won’t get real for the Chargers until either a) they get punched in the mouth by SL. or b) win and play a better team next week.

8. Stuart @ Mount Vernon (-35)
- Wanted to make the spread higher… Too athletic. Fritts is an underrated coach as well. MV is the sleeper team for me in the playoffs this year…

9. T.C. Williams @ West Springfield (-7)
- Co-Game of the week. These two played earlier in the season (indoors) and WS won 62-47. Don’t expect that many points this week in colder weather. I think TC can win this game, if they have a proper gameplay that utilizes their athletes, and execute it. Also need an answer on defense for the Spartans’ QB.

10. Wakefield @ Westfield (-40)
- Will be over by halftime.

Cvhs only td came off a pick-6. Warhawks at home, Wildcats wilt early. Warhawks have their number. Madison 35-0. Season ends painfully for new coach at Cvhs and we do f have to listen to the worst parents and fan base (pointing ginger at you Wildcats)

Champe throttled Freedom last week, unfortunately it was Freedom-South Riding. Freedom wins but don’t cover, +28. jC doesn’t have enough athletes to match up with Eagles.

Why wait so long (til halftime) this game is over by end of 1st qtr. Soco is good but not the best Soco team I’ve seen before.

See Soco write up. Over by 1st qtr (21-0 BW after 1)

Best chance for an upset. YT wins by 6.

You’re high of you think LB or Robo QB’s are Reg QB of the year. Tough to beat a team twice but LB has too many weapons on offense. Robot offense hasn’t been consistent all year and don’t have an identity anymore. Expected more out of the 4* recruit.

Best chance for an upset (did I say that already) all depends on which SL team shows up, the one that played Madison tough or the one that lost to Langley. Chantilly got shut down 2nd half against Bulldogs (Tilly late td in 4th was aided by 55yds of penalties on the Bulldogs on 1 drive alone) also once Bulldogs Concorde district defensive POY came into the game the Tilly running attack was shut down. Guess Tilly should be more careful about posting inappropriate & class things on social media. Seahawks with the upset. 28-27

MTV wins easy. Everything he wrote above is spot on.

TCW loses to WSHS being an indoor team and now playing outside in the cold (weird to say that about a HS team) but weather will be a factor.
Spartans 35-14

> 10. Wakefield @ Westfield (-40)
> - Will be over by halftime.

Bulldogs 28-0 in 2nd qtr go onto cruise by however much Simmons decides although he does like to get JV in early to get them playoff exposure.

WF clearly has the best Offense in the Concorde. Who has the best Defense?

If you base it off points allowed in conference then Madison:

1. Mad 31 points allowed
2. WF 76 points allowed
3. C’Ville 106 points allowed
4. Tilly 109 points allowed
5. Oakton too many to count

Woodbridge kids should wait and see who is hired as next HFC. If it is a rookie or little league guy then split. But what if it is a proven winner with a list of scholarship players? The point is not to rush. It could be people are leaving the vultures to go to WB. Think about it...

Great job! 84-0. They are a classy bunch.

Yes, expect tranfers, PWCS will do nothing. It isn’t VHSL that governs transfers.

Oh believe me Overton has already started the recruiting & this season isn’t over yet! Going after the Hayfield all-conference WR. #Classy

That's odd, this season there is not an all conference receiver on Hayfield. As a matter of fact only one player made all-conference and he is a DB.

Madison defense has only allowed 24, 7 were scored off an interception for a return, the 7 to chantilly was off a back up defensive back ... Madison has the best defense around!

I don't know if they are the best around but probably the best in the Concorde. I was really impressed with the DLine play. They have a huge Linebacker and a big DE. The DE was really good on special teams as well- I think he was #44 or 49. The Linebacker was #20 and hit like a ton of bricks. The DBs were good. They had some good plays but I think they got away with some interference calls.

Can you smelllllllllllllll what the Doc is cooking

Friday night smackdown at Lake Braddock

LB will cruise over Robinson, just like we did in the regular season.
Doc has these boys laser focused for the playoffs, 1 game at a time.

# preparing for 15
# best staff in the state

Doc is a clown, he beats the weak and gets killed by the better teams. He adds nothing. Pretty sure a high school player coach would be 7-3 with Lake Braddock talent so, having an adult coach is worth 1 win maybe. Best staff in the state, if the castoffs of the best staff came back they would still be 8-2. How about finding a way to win....he was a clown with Woodson and remains a clown at LB.

Off year for Centreville. Madison wins and covers.

A friend of mine connected to Falls Church's football team told me that they had some significant injuries late in the season, and that this contributed to their late season collapse. That only makes a difference in the match up -- if Falls Church had not had those injuries, they would have won at least one more game and not gotten this particular draw. I had to give 42 points, but it's South County. SoCo wins and covers.

I don't make picks in games involving TJ, and Lee is the functional equivalent of TJ in the playoffs.

I think this spread is a bit high. Yorktown wins, doesn't cover.

It was closer than I expected in the regular season. I'll take LB to win, but not cover.

Chantilly wins, doesn't cover.

Mt. Vernon wins and covers.

West Springfield wins and covers.

Agree. Westfield wins and covers.

Don't count on that. Simmons doesn't like to run up the score on teams. He's always willing to trade clock for points if his team is more than a couple of scores ahead. Could WF lay a 41 point margin on Wakefield? Sure. Will they? I doubt it. The spread will be in the high 20's to low 30's. Maybe even less.

If LB gets a rematch with SoCo it will be for the region championship. I’m certain they’re aiming for that. LB should beat Robinson and then they’ll most probably go to mount Vernon who they can beat. If LB is playing after thanksgiving then their new coach will have done just as well as the last guy right? I can’t remember seeing LB play past that except maybe one time. I don’t think they will advance past SoCo but their week 10 matchup was definitely a tale of two halves. LB was coming back strong but it was just too little too late.

Well if he is smart, he would get out of Hayfield. But maybe he should wait and see who replaces Henderson.
