Yorktown was a tough challenge today for WF. This region is not great. The new alignment favors WF even more. Crazy!

Looking ahead to the 2020 season, who should be good, better, worse, losing a lot of talent? Seems like we’ll be seeing a lot of first year QBs as most notable kids from this season were seniors. WF and SoCo both graduate 3+ year starters for instance.

Yorktown’s QB is a senior and once he is gone, they will not be seeing playoffs anytime soon. They’ll be lucky to win 3 games next season.

Warcucks lose their QB to graduation and will be in big trouble. Centreville’s QB will be the best QB in the Concorde and possibly 6D region.

For what it’s worth, Madison’s JV team was 9-0 I believe and are returning most of their offense and multiple all district defensive players.

SoCo looked awesome vs Lake Braddock last night.
13-0 even with the mueck issue.

You’re likely gonna have a 9-10 win WF, a 7-3 to 8-2 LB and SOCO and Madison. MV will likely be pretty good again, though not as good as this year.

It looks like the Lake Braddock QB will be a senior next year. Considering that their only losses were to South County and Westfield who will both lose their QBs, is Lake Braddock a favorite to run the table and win the region like those teams did this year?

I don’t think so. He’s gonna have a very good year again, and wr number 2 will likely be a Stud. But they’re graduating the Michigan commit TE, the RB, the smaller WR number 9, 2 OL, and like 3 box defenders. Soco will be the favorite to repeat, but LB will be good again. Probably the same 2 losses that they had this year. They have to replace a LOT of production

I don’t know the rosters as well as some but I do know SoCo and WF both lose QBs and other assets as well. I also know that the LB JV team beat both WF and SoCo. I’d like to see someone different in the state final. Pulling for SoCo this year and probably LB next year. Anyone but WF, just because it’s getting stale.

There were a lot of decent QBs in this area compared to some seasons in the past. Everyone always complains about how there is no QB talent around here... below is a list of the best. Quality of QB play is going to be down overall next year.

1. Noah Kim (Sr) Westfield
2. Mitch Griffis (Sr) Broad Run
3. Billy Edwards (Jr) Lake Braddock
4. Grant Wilson (Sr) Yorktown
5. Tony Muskett (Sr) West Springfield
6. Chase Soper (Sr) Hayfield
7. Fonnae Webb (Sr) Mount Vernon
8. Billy Wiles (Jr) Stone Bridge
9. JT Mayo (Sr) West Potomac
10a. Cody Rogers (Jr) Patriot
10b. Quest Powell (Sr) Freedom-WB
10c. Robert Longerbeam (Sr) TC Williams
10d. Ry Yates (Sr) Madison

SoCo's QB out dueled 5 QB's on this list head to head and definitely should be high on this list as he will be 1st team all region and was his districts Offensive player of the year

I believe he had Close to 40 TD Passes and 3000 yards passing and his team is 13-0

LB will be the team to beat next year.

Doc, staff and team had a great year, no one expected them to do much this year, after losing so many good players from last years team, but as usual, Doc proved them all wrong. Big wins in the playoffs against Robinson and Mt Vernon, quite a few All Patriot District players. One of the top teams in the Patriot district and one of the top teams in this region. I think everyone will agree, Doc will have the Bruins primed and ready to go for 2020.

Go Bruins!

What do you mean no one expected them to be this good. All your dumbass fans have been on here saying we’re preparing for 15. Billy is gonna be shit next year. HIBNER and Murray made him look good. Everyone will see how bad billy Edwards is next year when all his key targets are gone

1. Lake Braddock @ South County (-13)
- Stallions won and cover, 31-15. They look like a well oiled machine...

2. Massaponax @ Colonial Forge (-6)

3. Thomas Dale @ Oscar Smith (-17)

4. Varina @ Manchester (-3)

5 Woodgrove @ Stone Bridge (-20)

1. North Stafford @ Stone Bridge (-20)
- High spread for a State semifinal, but North Stafford is 9-4. 100% expecting them to cover this spread. Jared Cole is the real deal for the Bulldogs. Surprised he’s going to UMass… I wonder why he hasn’t gotten any better looks. Imagine if he was still at Oakton… Anyways, look for Stone Bridge to be back down and Hampton next weekend, yet again.

2. South County (-6) @ Westfield
- Highly anticipated match-up. If anyone can stop the Stallions, it’ll be Simmons’ gameplay and schemes, as well as the defense playing top notch football. Westfield kicked a couple major contributors off the team to begin the playoffs, and it’s my understanding they have a few injuries as well. Noah Kim is the better QB, but he doesn’t have a Brock Spalding to throw to… Kid is only a sophomore. Expect all the VA schools to offer, and the mid-major power 5’s to follow suit next year. He scored 3 times on offense and once on defense against Braddock. Absolute stud. Zion Dayne is a great linebacker as well that will be able to put press on Kim & company. Expecting SoCo to win, but we’ll see what happens.

Also around Virginia…

1. Colonial Forge @ Oscar Smith (-8)
- If you don’t know the name Romon Copeland, look up his highlights…

2. Patrick Henry-Ashland @ Lake Taylor (-20)
- Lake Taylor is my Class 4 favorite to win all the hardware...

3. Tuscarora (-10) @ Salem
- Tuscarora stunned a solid Broad Run team to get to the State semis and Salem beat a good E.C. Glass team… I’ll take NOVA football over SW Virginia football, though. Don’t know much about Salem…

4. Varina @ Maury (-3)
- Maury is extremely talented, both teams are similar to Highland Springs in the way they play. Varina with back to back wins against Highland Springs & Manchester. Could go either way. I think both teams would be favored against Stone Bridge.

Going with upset. NS has played one heckuva tough schedule. SB not as nearly as challenging. They lost to Massaponax early in the season but came back and beat them in playoffs, gotta like that.

WHS to win this game will have to play mistake free and limit penalties and force SOCO into turnovers. Amazing job by coach’s to overcome losing top RB and Top Defensive player who would’ve been an All-State player. Yes SOCO #10 is really good but WHS’s group of WR’s are better overall. SOCO def-line is stout, not sure WHS o-line can match them. Expect scoring to be 24-21. Going with the home dogs.

Both lost to Highland Springs, CF has played a much tougher schedule. Like CF for the upset 28-24

Best game on the books. Varina, better schedule used to tough games. Maury to no fault of their own hasn’t played any quality opponents. Varina 35-21

Go with South County. I am hearing Legall and Richards are both done for the season. They are running out of ammo.

Copeland for Smith is a decoy!!! The Tigers have so much talent that they've sheltered a top player away & haven't used a few secret weapons!!! Coach Scott did the same thing in 2014. He put Cosby in the backfield and Ocean Lakes bullied Smith that year in the playoffs.

Coach Brown @ CF is gonna think Smith had a secret transfer at the last minute again. He'll cry, whine and complain again that he couldn't prepare for the change in personnel! I love it!!!

Legall is most likely done. He left the game mid way through holding his shoulder and after the game I saw him with his arm wrapped against his shoulder, he probably has a shoulder injury, not sure how bad though.

Richards was on crutches after that hit in the first offensive series. He is also likely done.

Forge winning state. Booking it here on December 4th, 2019. Thanks for playing Smith, it's unfortunate that a northern VA team has to play in the State championship at all.

So true. After all, they've only won 4 out of the last 6 championship games.

Sorry but Colonial Forge plays great for 3 out of 4 quarters. EVERY loss to Smith, Freedom and Highland Springs was due to your team's lack of conditioning. Too bad it's too late now. The Eagles will lay a turd in the 4th quarter again!

Don't worry though, Coach Brown will think Smith had 2 secret transfers that he hadn't seen on film yet to give y'all another excuse for losing again.

But, I agree, the South Regional is where it's at this year!

The only problem is we have all heard this talk time and time again. As one previous poster explained, the title has gone to the North 4 of the past 6 championship games. I think it's something like 13 out of the past 20, could be wrong, but something very close to that.

Look, not saying that Westfield or SOCO are going to win states, but they have as good a chance as CF or Smith. But just because teams are from certain regions does not guarantee victory, Smith & their fans sure know a thing or two about that!

There zero doubt that both Smith and Colonial Forge are playing better football than either Westfield or South County. Hopefully, SoCo wins so the State Title game will be more exciting!

Pw county has inter school sports games at 7th & 8th grade. That’s why gar-field and other hs dominated.
I remember wrestling kids from pw schools age 12-14, and it was like wrestling at college level.
Wonder why this 7th/8th grade interplay no longer makes PwC Hs dominant.

Your only evidence or argument was geographical. You assert that because they are a few degrees further south in latitude that this somehow gives southern teams an edge in football. This is refuted by the actual outcomes of past championship games which recent history demonstrates are actually won more frequently by teams from more northern latitudes.

You haven't provided any concrete evidence other than school names and region to back up your original statement. Once you put together a logical, well thought, basic explanation as to why CF & Smith are "playing better football" than WF & SOCO, then I'm sure I'll be able to debate your comment.

Welp, there you have it! lol

Let’s be honest- people see all the black kids and assume the NoVa teams full of “soft” suburban kids will fold. I’d give the coaching advantage to the North though.

Maybe it was mommy or daddy’s Camry that they drove to practice.
The car they drove to practice.
That same practice that made Westfield better than Smith...

This is not concrete evidence, this is a subjective ranking analysis from a third party that does not cover local high school football. Not to mention this source is the same entity that had Oscar Smith ranked higher than Westfield prior to the 3 championships won by defeating Smith.

MaxPreps also had Smith ranked higher than Centreville in 2013 prior to their championship game in which Centreville destroyed Smith. Once again, please give me some actual facts as evidence to your claim that the southern schools are "playing better football."

Live in the past & watch your competitors pass you by.... Westfield & South County have dropped in ratings despite being undefeated? Think about that for 2 minutes & see what you come up with. Your competitors and your own team are getting weaker. Within just the Norfolk, South Norfolk area (within a 10-mile radius), it's possible 3 teams could be playing for state titles!!! Fairfax will have only 1.

And if you still want to live in the past, which team has been the most dominant in the last 10 years in VA? Smith will continue to make the state tournament more than any other team while Westfield falls back to mediocrity again!

No team has lost as many State Championship games as OS in recent years. They would have been smashed by Centreville again in 2014 if not for OL and there “cheating” head coach. Oh, by the way who is coaching OS this year?

You just keep saying stupid stuff and don't even realize it. There are 25 high schools in Fairfax and 23 of them are in Class 6. So of course there won't be 3 Fairfax schools playing for a state title in the same year. Genius.

Falls back into mediocrity, man, you’re not too bright. Westfield has been open for 20 years, 1 losing season, 2001, the schools second year. They’ve been to the last 9 region championships and the last 6 state semi-finals. Over those 20 seasons they’ve won 5 championships, Oscar Smith has 2!

But the previous poster was merely attempting to get you to make the argument as to why CF and Smith are playing better ball than WF or SOCO. You have yet to come up with anything other than MacPreps rankings, which one poster shot down. You then switched to some lame attempt diminish the opposing programs based, once again, from MaxPreps rankings. Please, leave the forum if you’re not going to provide any thoughtful posts.....

What’s the FCPS rule on moving high schools to play football? Can I move my son to Braddock?

Doc’s boys are going straight to the next level. There are recruiters filing into that building every day! I want a piece of all of that.

There is No Rule on "Moving" to Play. It's very simple, you send your kid to any School you want and if/When anyone in the "County" approaches you, Which they won't, you threaten to have your attorney subpoena the residences of every kid The Federal Government has "Placed" within your desired school. All goes away, see the Bureaucracy has sold us all down the road for the almighty Federal Funding $$$$$'s They can not and will not enforce any residency issue without exposing their own corrupt antics.

Not to get picky but this is Westfield's seventh consecutive season in the final 4. Fact is they have the most wins of any team in Virginia (in any class) since Simmons took over as head coach. No one can predict the future but don't think would be betting on mediocrity as long as Simmons is there. And they have never lost to a team south of Prince William County. So there is also that.

Name one Bruin of note that did anything at the next level. Your current “star” is gonna get exposed at UM for being so soft. He is the epitome of softness especially on DE. Easy to make plays against 5’7 150lb kids in high school, OSU will show him its different up there in B1G. He won’t see the field.

Sounds like someone is a little jelly
It doesn't matter, he will get a great education for free!
I would much rather have the paid education, then some medal for a championship that gets thrown in the closet and forgotten about in a few years.

He won’t last a season at UM. Harbaugh will run him off once he discovers he recruited Pillsbury Dough boy (cuz he so soft & been coached by Doc & crew).

Say what you want, they’ve been back to be sure their boy is solidly committed and he is. Hate if you need to.

...and big, bad Noah Slim will be a stud at MSU right? lol
You must evaluate talent for the Redskins.

The string continues. Fulfilling the ancient adage that a prophet is not without honor except in his own town Fairfax Underground continues it's unbeaten streak of dissing their own talent. Has there ever been a local D1 commit that wasn't trashed on FFXU? Can't think of any.

This is a really mean thread too. I don’t know how kids manage the academic and athletic stress these days with the online BS going on plus there’s this thread. The pressure is on these athletes and their coaches all the time. No wonder less and less are playing the sport. It’s sad and it’s not getting better anytime soon. I hope the people who are trashed on here never see what’s been said about them! I mean really. Parents have been trashed on here too! What a shame.

Wow, this isn't the HS Soccer thread. What a pussy. You must be a proud parent of a kid on the swim team!!??

Kids on the football team get worse than this from their own coaches and team members. Football is all about getting life lessons and succeeding despite the adversity in your life.

Your fucking boss doesn't care that your neighbor makes fun of you. If you bring your problems to work, get ready to get passed over or worse yet, prepare to get fired! GROW UP!!!

In the last 3 years Braddock has had more talent then most teams in Northern VA, but haven't done anything with it

That's seems to be Doc's attitude "who cares about championships". He still doesn't have a signature win and his teams always seem to be intimidated by the Westfield's, SoCo's and Stone Bridge's. Preparing your team mentally and physically is on the coaching staff. It seems like the "best staff in the state" has no clue when it comes to beating a good team.

All the Doc supporter say wins dont matter, the players are more respectful then in the past. According to others they have had a few incidents on the team that say otherwise. So has Doc really brought anything to the program...….JS

Correction, a highly successful asshole with well adjusted, hardworking, and well-educated children. Metal sharpens metal. Soft dolts become members of the welfare State. I'm sure you're happy in your meaningless, pitiful existence.

Your definition of mean is not the same as mine. Someone who cares more about your feelings than what you NEED to hear and learn to get better IS mean to me!!! If your coach, trainer, spouse or boss isn't pushing, antagonizing and correcting you, then they don't really have any investment in your future! If you are surrounding yourself with such terrible people, I feel sorry for your situation!!

Most Dominant VA High School Football, Smith, will meet all you bitches in Hampton again!!!

Some question about the South Region quality of football vs the Northern...757 area has 3 teams playing in State Championship gaimes next week!!! All 3 are within 10 miles of each other.

South Norfolk, Oscar Smith
Norfolk, Maury
Norfolk, Lake Taylor

Don't @ me... Y'all got nothin!!!

Okay, you got us, Smith gets to more state championships than most, but that's it. They've won a total of 2, the last one, what, 7-8 years ago. You're the Stone Bridge of 6A, not too hard to get to the championship when you openly recruit. But then you never have the coaching or heart to win when it counts.

Most dominant Virginia High School Football team. Smith is full of underclassmen so get used to this story! I'll be around to keep reminding y'all on a regular basis!!!

Stonebridge isn't even in the top 5. They are zero for.... Big difference vs winning 2 championships and getting to the state finals more than any other school in VA...

Try to come up with a weak reason why the above isn't true and factual. It:s like finding excuses why your team is not playing next week.

It was said that the South Region is playing the best football. Today it was proven. No one can dispute the facts!!! 3 teams from the southside of 757 are in the Championship Games. No other area can claim that!!

Tuscarora, Stone Bridge, and South County all going to states next weak.

That's 3 teams from NOVA, not the same county but within the same general area code.

It’s absolutely true. Edwards did not play well but neither did Kim. Soco is the best team in the north and it shows. -a soco football parent, you idiot

Colonial Forge is a very good team. Too many players on their O-line, LB's that have to play both ways! Every game they've lost to Smith & Freedom was due to conditioning!!! 0-5 vs Smith. At some point Coach Brown will either figure things out or they'll have find a better coach.
