You can't beat WF with a one-dimensional offense. You have to have a credible run and pass threat. The only way to beat them with just one or the other is to completely overpower them AND you have to control Noah and the offense. That's why they're so hard to beat. If you can run and pass, you still have to outscore the Bulldog offense that can put 35 points up on anyone. If you can only run Or pass and can keep the Bulldog offense in check, then you have a chance, but your coach better not be a flake like that moron from Freedom. The eagles overpowered the bulldogs and they were fast enough to score with quick hitting runs or passes. And they knocked Kim out of the game. They still barely beat WF last year. If Freedom had a coach with an IQ above 50, it wouldn't have been close.

He is a hell of a recruiter though. And he just got access to Woodbridge's Kids.

Westfield defense is not going to be getting any pressure on the Yorktown QB you can pretty much count on that. He’ll have as much time as he wants. What’s going to make the coaching interesting is that Westfield’s design is usually to allow the short passes and force teams into long drives and that appears to be exactly Yorktown’s offensive plan. If Wilson can go 22-30 vs Madison I expect you’ll see the same thing against Westfield. On the flip side I can’t imagine Yorktown holding Westfield to 10 points.

Simmons kicked their best pass rusher off the team a couple of weeks ago. YT needs to take advantage of that and make the bulldogs pay for soft pressure up front. However, WF likes to force turnovers and mistakes by taking away the quick hit TDs and forcing longer drives. Can YT do what few other teams have been able to do and beat WF at their own game? 28% chance, but it's possible.

Was at the YT/Mad game. YT couldn't run on MAD and really couldn't hit the long pass except for one long one. Mad didn't adjust to the 5-7 yard outs. Mad had 4 or 5 sacks when YT QB took a 5 step drop. Mad didn't adjust on Offense either. They tried running the ball against 9 guys in the box. Will be an interesting game.

Sorry Freedom -W parents but he is not preparing your boys on how to function for the real world. Act, dress, talk & think like him, you are not getting hired.

Yorktown is gonna get absolutely destroyed by Westfield. Their offensive line sucks. I was at the game and I saw them and there best linemen got hurt it looks like. the quarterback got lucky that number 11 was so open. The only reason they won was that Madison’s coaches are a bunch of retards. And their secondary looks suspect. But the real weakness they can’t tackle for shit especially there linebackers. and one of them 44 dropped a easy interception. YT can’t run the ball for shit. Westfield 42-0 easy win

Nope. This will be a tight ballgame. Madison just wet the bed again. I suspect the main cause was having to play Centreville 2 weeks in a row. Some of Centreville's losing play must have rubbed off on Madison.

cuddos to yorktown, i really thought we would see wf-madison for the second year in a row. i will still take wf over yorktown. experienced qb, thumper of a rb, and receivers who can make plays. although i haven’t seen yorktown play i can’t imagine they can hang with the bulldogs physically. as for soco-braddock, i’ll take soco by 14. better coaching. regardless, i think these we’ll be two hard fought games. can’t say i expected yorktown to be in the region champ, but i think the bulldogs will be too much for wilson

Absolutely agree the racist garbage needs to stop but I don’t think it’s the kids, there’s a more than a few adults spewing this crap. Nothing wrong with disliking Overton for being an ass, plenty of reason in that alone but the racism has no place.

Nothing like breakfast after Thanksgiving practice for the region finals!
Our boys will be ready to go for the game. Smackdown on Friday for South County and our boys will be dancing at the middle of the field on the South County logo.

Doc told everyone at the beginning of the year we were preparing for 15 now do you all believe him? It doesn't matter if you believe because Bruin Nation does.

Lake Braddock Bruins Region C Champions! Doesn't that have a nice ring to it?

Not sure if he quit or was kicked off. Heard he had a bad attitude because Simmons was starting the sophomore. Not connected to #1 at all.

LB Fan(s),

Please STFU, you are nothing and are not playing 15 this year. Four years ago, Coach P beat MV 65-0, last week under fat Doc you barely escaped in overtime. SoCo will kill you on Friday. The only thing Doc has accomplished is to give up the Patriot District to SoCo. Oh yeah and the kids are really nice now - except when they are rubbing their dicks on their teammates.

Braddock is terrified of SoCo, stemming from the fact that they KNOW they cannot beat the Stallions.

The real game happens next week when Pannoni’s boys roll up to Westfield and end their reign in Fairfsx Co.

Would advise taking care of business at hand before focusing on next week. Last team that looked ahead got beat by South Lakes.

Partial correction: Doc ain’t fat. Those boys are back to being the school assholes though. They can’t act right and they have little leadership on that team. Congrats SOCO.

You are confusing your numbers. #1 was RB Daniels, #2 was DE Ahiakpo. Yes, both are no longer on the team, for unrelated reasons. Ahiakpo is a huge loss; Daniels not quite as much with the emergence of Legall.

Yeah, should have said not related to #2. #2 was kicked off for engaging in illegal activities. #1 wasn't starting at RB and word is he developed a crappy 'tude. Either he quit or Simmons kicked him off the team. I was trying to point out that what happened to #1 wasn't related to #2.

Braddock with a goal line stand with a minute left in the 3rd. Zion runs like daddy Ron on the goal line. A touchdown there would have ended the game.

SoCo defense stout thus far. Let’s see what happens in the 4th

24-7 SoCo - about 5 left in the 4th...Ballgame

SoCo backup QB with two long TD passes in the second half to seal it.

Not sure where some of you are getting info. Soco starters were in whole gsme. Hibner and Dayne and Spalding were best players on field. Edwards was sacked 10+ times and hit another 10+. Wouldn’t say he’s overrated but he got hit a lot. LB offensive line had no answers, WRs couldn’t get open. Soco will win state. Just from my observations of being at the game

It's 15 if you include the two scrimmages.

SC defense literally just crushed LB. The LB QB looked like he could be real good but he only had about 1.5 seconds to make a decision. The SC QB had about 6-7 seconds and threw all his big passes in a pristine pocket. LB was either unable or unwilling to make any adjustments that could help out their beleaguered QB.

SC will beat Westfield by no fewer than 3 TDs if they are fortunate enough to sneak past Yorktown. WFD does not have the size, strength or speed to handle SC this year. It will be a beatdown.

Well, Woodson beat them for the second time in round 2 of the playoffs to end their season. But they were only 7-3 in the regular season - they lost to Westfield, Madison and Woodson. But they are a totally different team this season. Even Coach P can't mess this one up.

LB was overmatched in every aspect of the game today. Particularly coaching and line play. And SoCo coaching was nothing great. Very questionable play calling from SoCo.

SoCo kept LB in the game early with turnovers and penalties. Should have been 24-0 at halftime. But two turnovers and two stupid penalties will do that.

I do like Doc’s offense, but he made zero adjustments to compensate for So. County’s total domination on the line. Edwards kept taking deep drops waiting for receivers to get open, which never happened. So Edwards got lit up over and over. I’ve said all along decision making was his main weakness, and the Stallion defense exploited that today. But man, a coach has to recognize what’s going on and adjust, and that did not happen today. They should have let #5 run the ball more, and tried to establish something. Him and 88 are their best offensive players, but they didn’t involve them enough.

SoCo was just better, much better, in every aspect today. And that’s not bias, i have no interest in either team.

And the poster who said the officials were siding toward SoCo had to either be a LB coach or parent. Other than that one PI call, which was a good call, every call went in LB favor. When the LB coach (I assume that was Doc?)stormed out on the field after the grounding call, by rule, he should have been penalized 15 yards and ejected. Coaches cant run out onto the field to argue a call, and he had not even called a TO when he did that. He didn’t call the TO until the linesman said something to him. He should have gotten the boot. That was an incredibly embarrassing display of poor sportsmanship.

The LB players and coaching staff did their best out there today and we are so proud of them. Its not always about winning at all cost, its about doing your best and our boys did that today. For the seniors, good luck in your future endeavors and the for the under classmen, next year will be a great one!

Doc doesn't have much experience coaching in the playoffs, what do you expect? He is way over his head running a big program like Lake Braddock.
In 3 years at Braddock, he doesn't have 1 signature win. Again, the players may behave well, but they cant win a big game, so that's the trade off.

This is just a stupid comment and you’ve said it before. Signature win? The impact of Coach Doc has been systemic. He has taken young people who are small and mildly interested and turned them into a team of football players, student leaders, and men. He’s clean, legal, stays above board, and he expects that from everyone who works in his program.

I agree with above poster comments.
Bottom line is, under Doc they haven't shown they can compete with the better programs in the state. All coaches take young people who are mildly interested and turn them into players, student leaders and men. That's what football does.

My kid played for Doc, he was a nice guy, but didn't teach him anything more then the previous coach.

Not a LB coach fan by any stretch but the earlier poster was all wrong on the grounding call. LB did call a timeout, coach went on the field as he is allowed in a timeout but he did deserve the unsportsmanlike for running his mouth, it is what it is. An experienced coach could have gotten his point across differently. Its not what you say, its how you say it.

SC totally dominated the game in all facets. Congrats Coach P.

LB, same ole LB even with the previous coach, couldn't win the big one in the post season, ever.

LB is back to what they were before doc. 10-3 or 11-2 type of team. Loss in the regional final. It’s what define braddock for whatever reason. Poythress was the same way besides 09-10 seasons. I wonder why that is? It can’t be ONLY coaching since it’s multiple times in the last 10 years. They’re good, soco was better. I think soco vs Oscar smith for state

Smith vs Soco will be interesting. Smith is up currently 15-0 on a pretty solid team from Richmond. Smith has way more athletes. I’m not sure who will win. Soco does have a better chance to beat them this year as opposed to Westfield.

Sir - I applaud his approach to arguing that incredibly botched series of calls. First they pick-up the obvious and flagrant intentional grounding on Scounty. They threw the flag! Then the very next series they call intentional grounding on LB. The ball was clearly thrown right into a group of players. It is highly irregular for a ref to make the judgement call that it was intentional grounding in such a situation. Very irregular. Sure it was a rushed pass but one never sees that called grounding. And then the pass interference on #27. Absototal bullshit. That was a great defensive play - there was no grab no push - a great move to get inside position and a great turn and deflection. It couldn't have been done better. And no, I am not a LB fan.

You are just stupid. LB has lots of minority and black players. And Westfield has been a majority white school in the past and white is still the largest group there although no longer majority. That's simply not a valid excuse.

It is obvious you really do not understand the rules of football. In HS, when the qb is under pressure, he has to throw the ball “in the vicinity” of an “eligible” receiver. The LB QB drilled the ball into the ground at the feet of his linemen. None of them were eligible receivers, and he was clearly attempting to avoid a sack. So its grounding. The SoCo QB was moving and threw a pass toward an eligible receiver. The referees mechanics on that play is to throw the flag, then converse with the wing officials to determine if there was an eligible receiver in the area. That is why the flag was picked up. If you ever watch football, you’ll see that from time to time.

As for the PI, the move to “get inside” involved grabbing the receiver and interfering with his movement to the ball. By definition, pass interference.

While I agree there are times coaches owe it to their players to take up for them, and there are times to get an USL, I stand by what I say about him going onto the field. If that wasn’t a Regional Final game, he would have been flagged immediately. If he were coaching at most other schools in the county, he would have been ejected. A coach can’t run onto the field like that. Never. Ever.

That's correct. I've never watched a game before and I don't know the rules at all. I just made all that up because I'm stupid.

Man, what a pompous ass you are. I know the rules. I just happen not to agree with your interpretation of what happened. Especially with the PI. I was about 10 yards from the ref. There was absolutely NO GRABBING or interference with his movement to the ball other than he got inside and was in better position to make a play on the ball. I know why the ref called PI. The only reason was because at the trailing end of the play he had his hand on the WR back. Totally incidental but the ref looked at the hand and threw the flag. It was a colossal injustice.

Its not complicated # 5 for LB was in the middle of that group. The ball was thrown at the Body of # 5 not his feet. Why not his feet because #42 was tackling him because he was beat. So at a very minimum Its defensive holding. The well trained refs had no clue # 5 was even there. At least one possibly two of that crew. Were from the MT Vernon crew. The head referee. From the Mt Vernon(What a Cluster that game was)is the man who called the pass interference You are arguing. He is also the man who Didn't call the pass interference call in the first LB Drive. Where the LB receiver clearly had steps on the Soco defender and was taken down. So if you don't call that one then there are to be no Pass interference calls for the day. Thats called consistency. Uncatchable ball in high school is not a rule so throw that away. Soco won! Good for them. The SOCO int at the end of the game. The penalty block in the back. Which means nothing in that the game was over!. The penalty occurred before # 10 got into the Endzone yet they still awarded the TD and put the penalty on the KO. 2 16 year olds who got a 1hr ref course before they went out to ref their first CYA game would have got that one right. You have no accountability for the REFs. There is no grading system. No repercussions for doing sub par work. If there was NO ONe from the MT Veron crew would have been on the field yesterday! Some of those same guys will be doing a State Playoff Game next week. Soco Won. Not arguing that. But you have men who are making several hundred dollars for a few hours work. So if you want to make a few hundred dollars an hour be allowed to operate at a 50% or less efficiency rating and have no accountability for your actions. Become a high school football ref in NOVA!

A few things about officials. First there are not very many good crews. There are even less better single officials. Nobody wants to be an official because of the abuse they receive from coaches, fans, and players. Second, they certainly don’t do it for the cash. Where you get they make a few hundred per hour is a joke. They get about about $120 per game. That makes it a hobby for many. They are just trying to give back. You can’t have games without officials so people need to chill or else we won’t have games soon. It’s hard enough filling out proper crews to cover games now. And lastly the crews are not all-star crews during playoffs. Crews stay with each other all season so they can get used to working together. One PI penalty didn’t cost you the game. They had a better defense and exposed poor coaching and the inability to change.

Not sure what game you were watching, but the refs had zero to do with the LB loss. LB lost because the SC defense did just about anything they wanted to disrupt the LB offense. That was one of the best defensive performances in a playoff game I have ever seen.

They make more per game per season than coaches do. They spend 1 tenth the time in preparation that kids and coaches do. And have a direct impact on the outcome.
So coaches are giving back just as much as them. I have watch football in NOVA for decades Most coaches want 1 thing consistency. It was gotten worse as the years have gone on

Three changes have made officiating more difficult over the years.

1) Added penalties for safety has officials paying attention to the sidelines, late hits and plays away from the ball more and more instead of the action in the game.

2) Increasing the amount of officials on the field in a given game has increased the amount of inexperienced or poor officials officiating.

3) Replay has allowed coaches to see officials mistakes in real time which has increased the level of scrutiny the officials are under.

The officials are trying to do their best, but most of them don't have the skills or ability to be as good as we are asking them to be. You could fix a lot of the problems if you had four-man crews, only worried about the action on the field, and eliminated sideline replay.

To me, this is clear as day DPI and possibly a TD saving penalty. Clearly pulled him back and impeded his route.

I haven't seen a clear shot of the other possible DPI (on SC) so I cannot comment on that one.

The simplest way to understand the point: NFHS rules do not allow a passer to intentionally "throw the ball away." Ever.

For those critics who think they can do better as an official, man up and sign up. They are always in need of officials.
