West Potomac and TC Williams should be an explosive game. The over/under on that one should be about 95.

Bulldogs need to limit Avery Ford big plays in 3rd and long or near goal line when the 50/50 ball is tossed up to him. CVHS need to slow down #2 on defense. Most explosive player I’ve see this season across NOVA. Powerful like Asante was last year, where does WHS keep getting these guys from?

> Stone Bridge (7-0) @ Briar Woods (5-2)
BW loses by 4tds. Cole has been do it all back this season. Wonder what difference he would’ve made if he stayed at Oakton.

> John Champe (5-3) @ Patriot (6-1)
Patriot other than the one loss has been playing like the real to beat. Will be a force come playoff times should dispatch JCH early. JCH not the same team after losing both WR’s to injury. JCH needs to win out for playoffs.

> Loudoun County (5-2) @ Tuscarora (6-1)
Tusky too much for LoCO. Dropped down to 4A to stay away from SB & Highland Springs.

> West Springfield (5-2) @ W.T. Woodson (3-4)
Spartans coming off a loss but first half played well against Soco. WTW has gone back to being the WTW of old. Spartans pull away by 21pts

> West Potomac (3-4) @ T.C. Williams (6-2)
TCW finding a little more consistency this year. TC by 14. WPO should stick to 7-7 tournaments, they excel at that.

> James Robinson (3-4) @ South County (7-0)
Best 1on1 match up, battle of 2 REALLY big kids, Zion and Tristan. Wonder if they will actually line up against each other very much, would love to see that, like a super heavy weight fight! Soco by 17. Amazing for such a big kid Zion doesn’t come off the field. Offense line, RB, DLine, special teams. He just needs to go under center and kick an extra point, he’s done it all then (maybe even drive tram bus)

He wears out by the end of games. Go look at the very last play of the Madison game. Critical fourth down play and where is #2? Pancaked on his back with two Madison lineman on top of him.

It was actually a lineman and the Running Back

If you watch objectively and take off your Warhawk glasses and remove Coach Counts balls from your mouth you would see he got flat out tackled quite a few times by Madison which is a penalty.

Oakton fan here. It’s been tough lately. In our game last week against WF, I thought #26 was the best defensive player on the field for the Bulldogs. He’s not big, but pound for pound, he was the toughest kid on the field. He was in on almost every tackle.

Westfield 42 - Centreville 21

Centreville played a solid game designed around quick throws and the option. WR Avery Ford made a number of big plays and had 2 TD catches. A very athletic player for someone that big. He was difficult to contain. Westfield defense had a hard time slowing down the option offense. At one point Centreville drove the entire length of the field on 3 consecutive possessions. Chantilly is going to have a lot of success against Westfield as the WFD defense was completely unable to adjust. In fact, West Potomac will probably put up some nice numbers against them. Not a state championship defense.

Offensively Westfield was pretty much more of the same. The Kim to Richards (2 TDs) and Howard (1 TD) plus the run game is a juggernaut. The sophomore RB Legall had a breakout game tonight - ran for over 150 yards and 2 TDs. He is getting better every week. He might very well already be the best RB in Virginia.

Only until the end of the 3rd when it was 42-0. Oakton never had a chance. With three OL starters out, it was open season for the Charger defense.

Centreville is down from last season no doubt. But they have beaten Chantilly 8X in a row and often by a lot. Having seen both Chantilly and Centreville in person I give the edge to Centreville. The Wildcats are a more physical team. I say Centreville 28-21.

7. Park View @ Thomas Jefferson (-3)

8. Robinson @ South County (-21)

9. Stone Bridge (-21) @ Briar Woods

Playoff brackets are starting to form, and we get an idea for what to expect here in about 2 weeks. (PS: if anyone has a 5A bracket for our area, please post… Thanks)

1. Centreville (-7) @ Chantilly
- Strength of schedule favors the Wildcats, and I will also. Wouldn’t surprise me to see the Chargers win this one, though. Co-Game of the week.

2. Edison @ Marshall (-14)

3.Fairfax @ South County (-28)
- SoCo was up 36-0 on Robinson last week early in the 2nd quarter. More than likely going to be the same situation with the Rebs.

4. Falls Church (-20) @ Lee
- Bad loss for the Jags last week, they’ll come out pissed and take it out on the Lancers.

5. Hayfield (-6) @ Annandale
- Two 0-8 teams in this one, someone will get their first win of the year! Hayfield has played one of the toughest schedules in recent memory. They are undoubtably more battle tested.

6. Langley (-14) @ Herndon

7. Oakton @ Madison (-24)
- Is this game still dubbed “The Outback Bowl”?

8. Potomac Falls @ Stone Bridge (-27)

9. South Lakes @ Yorktown (-17)

10. T.C. Williams @ Mount Vernon (-6)
Co-Game of the week. Is this one for the district title? Should be a great game…

11. Wakefield @ Stuart (-10)
- Raiders looking for their 4th win in a row.

12. Washington-Lee @ McLean (-3)
- Toss up game here between two 4-4 teams. Who wins it? I like McLean in a close one.

13. Woodson @ Robinson (-7)

14. West Springfield @ Lake Braddock (-17)
- Good test for the Bruins a week before they get SoCo.

15. Westfield (-21) @ West Potomac

Been reading a lot about the “Purple Platoon” have only seen a few clips which they looked good but they weren’t ready for top team like Warhawks, also saw a lot of whining and crying on here from the about Madison being too physical, sorry Purple, this is tackled football and district play time, out on your big boys and try not to embarrass yourself against Cville again. CVHS bounce back with 35-14 win. Chantilly, price us wrong otherwise shut up!

Marshall wins big. 42-7

28-0 SOCO after first qtr! Rebels hopes of seeing post season action will be done from the stands watching someone else play. Soco dismantled Rams in a shocking way. Zion proved Tristan is not ready for him.
Stallions 56-0 at half could be whatever Panoni wants it to be. Rebels are terrible!

> 4. Falls Church (-20) @ Lee

Jags with a stunning let down last week. Lancers perfect remedy for a team after a loss. Jags 45-10

Hawks have played a tough schedule but have folded early and often more than a banquet chair. Atoms have played tough and this week (I know I’ve said it the last few weeks) but I promise they win. 21-20.

Never k ow which Saxons team will come to play good thing is that we know Herndon won’t. Saxons 28-6

> 7. Oakton @ Madison (-24)

Amazing how bad Oakton is considering they coke from same area as Warhawks. Madison runs rough shod on them early, 28-0 first qtr and win 56-0.

> 8. Potomac Falls @ Stone Bridge (-27)

SB fails to cover last week (feels like a loss huh). Cover this week.

> 9. South Lakes @ Yorktown (-17)

Intriguing match up. SL with the upset of the week. 28-17.

Should go down or the wire. 35-31. MTV.

Arlington football is blehhhb.

> 12. Washington-Lee @ McLean (-3)

McLean wins 24-17.

> 13. Woodson @ Robinson (-7)

Battle for the 8th playoff spot. Rams were embarrassed last week, lost their identity. Cavs defense have given up big numbers all season long. Rams playoff lives on the line. Cavs upset. 27-21

> 14. West Springfield @ Lake Braddock (-17)

Spartans played half against soco excellent too bad they play the 2nd half.
Spartans upset 28-17

> 15. Westfield (-21) @ West Potomac
WPO needs to play disciplined football and hope for a lucky bounce or two but highly unlikely. Bulldogs #28 is scary good. They have too many weapons to stop. Bulldogs 42-14.

Correct winner and correct against the spread

Correct winner, but incorrectly predicted that LB wouldn't cover. Fairfax was really bad last year, and I didn't expect much this year. I was pleasantly surprised by their early performances, but the back half of their schedule is just too much. That will be the case this week as well.

Correct winner, but unfortunately, Chantilly also covered. It's unfortunate because that's a point against me, but, even worse, it's material for their loudmouth fans.

Correct winner and correct against the spread. South County is, IMO, the best team in Patriot. Robo is in the bottom half of their district.

Got the winner right, but not the spread. It's hard to figure National teams. Stuart likely will eke into the playoffs because Robo, Woodson and Fairfax will knock each other out, but if my team were in the playoffs, I'd love to draw them.

I picked the favorite to win, but not cover. They lost. So I count that as picking the wrong team but getting it right against the spread. What I said about Stuart applies to Falls Church as well.

Incorrect winner predicted, but right against the spread. I did say this would be the hardest one, and I was right.

Could West Springfield have been shaving points here? That can be the only explaination why they barely covered against Woodson. But I got both right.

Correct winner, wrong against the spread.

What won't surprise me is Chantilly fans coming on here and beating their chests about how good they are. What also won't surprise me is when Centreville wins and covers, which is what I'm predicting.

>

Marshall is just so hard to figure out, but can they really lose to Edison? I'd be amazed if that happened. Marshall wins and covers (fingers crossed, though).

Patriot this year is the big three (LB, SOCO, and WS) and the little three (Fairfax, ROBO, and Woodson). But I think SOCO is the best of the big three. Fairfax will try hard, but they'll be no match. SOCO wins and covers.

>
> 4. Falls Church (-20) @ Lee

Couldn't have said it better myself. Falls Church wins and covers (setting up a showdown with Stuart next week).

On paper, Hayfield should be more than a TD better. But Annandale, though winless, has played with a lot of heart. I can't say this about Hayfield. Possibly against my better judgement, I'm going with Annandale to win outright.

>
> 6. Langley (-14) @ Herndon

Still hard to figure Langley. But it's not hard to figure Herndon. Langley wins and covers.

>
> 7. Oakton @ Madison (-24)

> Bowl”?

Madison wins and covers.

>
> 8. Potomac Falls @ Stone Bridge (-27)

I think this line is too heavily influenced by South Lake's surprising loss to Langley. I do think Yorktown wins, but they won't cover.

>
> 10. T.C. Williams @ Mount Vernon (-6)
> Co-Game of the week. Is this one for the district
> title? Should be a great game…

I'd go to this game if Mt. Vernon weren't so far away from where I live. But I agree it should be great. I think Mt. Vernon is a bit better than TCW, who has been inconsistent at times. Mt. Vernon wins and covers.

>
> 11. Wakefield @ Stuart (-10)
> - Raiders looking for their 4th win in a row.

If Stuart can't cover a 14 point spread against Edison, and Wakefield being possibly better than thought, this one is going to be hard to predict. I'll take Stuart to win, but not cover, and won't be surprise if Wakefield wins outright.

>
> 12. Washington-Lee @ McLean (-3)
> - Toss up game here between two 4-4 teams. Who

McLean wins and covers. Could McLean have a .500 season this year?

>
> 13. Woodson @ Robinson (-7)

Given the power point standings, this game is a Region C elimination game. The loser of this game will not only be behind the winner in the playoff standings, but will be behind both West Springfield and Fairfax in the playoff standings regardless of how those two do (hint: Both Fairfax and WS are going to lose). That's a function of how the Powerpoints formula works. I've predicted that Woodson will have trouble winning another game this season, and I might as well remain all in. Robinson wins, covers, and eliminates Woodson from the playoffs.

>
> 14. West Springfield @ Lake Braddock (-17)

Clash of two of the big three in Patriot. My hunch is that LB is a bit better, but they're not 17 points better. LB wins, doesn't cover.

>
> 15. Westfield (-21) @ West Potomac

Westfield wins and covers. It's Westfield, so this spread isn't high enough.

Correction to my comment on the Woodson/ Robinson game -- I meant to refer to West Potomac where I referred to West Springfield. West po is on the playoff bubble, and will pass the loser of Woodson/Robinson, win or lose, just like Fairfax will.

After last week's action, the top six teams remained the same, though some teams switched positions. Falls Church's loss to Wakefield, coupled with TCW's win caused those two to flip positions. The top four all won. I expect the identity of the top six to remain the same, but there are some interesting matchups (LB v. WS and TCW v. MTV) that could affect positioning, including home field in the first round. Falls Church should remain in the top six with a likely win over Lee. If TCW loses to MTV, they may drop, but with MTV's record this year, they should still get enough power points to remain in playoff position.

All the teams #7 and below lost, with the exception of Justice. However, those bubble teams -- Justice, Woodson, Robo, Fairfax and Westpo didn't change postions, as they all lost, except for Justice. However expect some shuffling within this group. Fairfax and WestPo will likely move up, even with a loss. The reason s their opponents -- South County and Westfield. Under the Power points system, a team gets one standings point for every win a team they lost to has won. That benefits Fairfax and WestPo, both of whom will get no fewer than 23 additional points in the standings (that's the benefit of playing an undefeated team. The loser of Robo and Woodson will only get 18 points, which will allow Fairfax and WestPo to pass the loser.

If Justice beats Wakefield, that likely will give them enough points to wrap up the number 7 spot. The number 8 slot will likely be decided the following week, between WestPo, Fairfax, and the winner of Robo/Woodson. WestPo's final opponent is Hayfield, meaning they have the best chance of getting the win they need. It's also possible that this will be decided before then, if the winner of Woodson/Robo gets enough points from other action to make it unlikely for WestPo or Fairfax to catch them.

Even though we lost against WHS I do see hope in the program, our young QB played his best game of the season. Delivered some real nice throws, we just don’t have the players they did. The score board will be flip flopped next year guaranteed. Once their QB is gone they will not be able to replace him with what they have at JV. Now the bigger issue is the parents/boosters of CVHS, please stop with the negativity. We weren’t going to win states no matter who was coach and believe me those that are regretting having Shields here I ask you this, imagine the mess we’d be in if we stayed status-quo? Bad o-line and mediocre talent at RB and 1 good WR we’d be getting blown out lucky to have 3 wins on the season. There is not one kid in CVHS walking those halls that is a better QB than the one we have now. He’s gotten better as season has progressed and to the several loudmouths in the stands bitching about him, where’s your kid? That’s right not playing and def couldn't n wouldn’t be half as good as Jack. So sit down clap and encourage the team or do us all real Wildcats fans a favor and don’t come to the games. We don’t need your negativity. You’re not a guru, you haven’t watched film and few Hudl highlight clips don’t count. Jerks, the whole lot of you.

You may be totally correct about the Centreville team but I would not be so hasty about chalking up that win against Westfield next year. They have a decent percentage of their better players returning and their JV dominated the Centreville JV. Westfield will adjust – they’ve done OK in the past with average QBs.

Returning starting players
Offense
1 WR
RB although his parents are talking about sending him to WCAC school if not CVHS
1 OL

Defense
2 LB’s
1 DL
Don’t tell me about JV QB, have you seen that kid? He looks like the stick-bug from the movie “A Bugs Life” he’s not even an avg QB.

Simmons were smart he’d retire after this year. Why tarnish legacy on an empty cupboard.

Bulldog boosters better get busy finding recruits like they have in the past, I don’t know how they let the talent pool dwindle so low.

Your comments show you really don't know what you are talking about. One tiny example - Westfield is starting 3 juniors on the OL. You are literally wrong about almost everything. You wish Simmons would retire. Tarnish his legacy. SMH. What jerk.

There’s a couple of Chantilly supporters that are a little over the top but if you look closely at this team they have one of the best 1-2 combos in the backfield. Lott & Johnson are like Hs version of Thunder & Lightning. They do have a big O-line and I think they push past a Cville team who seem to be down this year and will play Westfield tough as they always have in recent memory and could beat them if they play them again in playoffs which is what they have done in the past ironically with Lalli as Chantilly’s HC who is now on Westfield sideline.

Truth hurts. I’m right on about each item. Sorry if you’re late to the party but your So-RB has one foot out the door. It’s not a well kept secret.

I will literally offer you a 10/1 money line if Westfield meets Chantilly in the playoffs.

That means you pay me $100 if Westfield wins... and I will pay you $1000 if Chantilly wins.

We can find a third party to hold the money. I am dead serious.

Why posting anon Coaches? You been spreading false rumors about Westfield for years. 51, 54, 73 on the line are all jr starters. Haven't heard anything about the RB but whatever. Simmons could go 0-10 for the next 9 years and still have a winning record. No wonder you bitter.

West Springfield will beat LB!!

West Springfield has a better offense than Braddock. Muskett is a better QB than Edwards, he is a true dual threat. They both have awful defenses, it will come down to who can get a stop on defense. West Springfield wins by 14

I wouldn't be surprised. Lake Braddock is overrated.

Wrong. Maybe the LB JV punks fall to West Springfield. I hear that group is undisciplined and unmanageable. But on Friday night? LB will take West Springfield’s varsity for the win. I’m looking forward a great game, a win because of Edwards and for LB.

Agree, LB loses. I think LB will be looking ahead to SoCo the following week.
As far as the QBs, both are very good, but the edge has to go to the WS kid

It's not me but that doesn't mean I don't agree. Westfield has been getting away with favorable no calls for holding during their famous Fullback Power Trap AND the no Offensive PI calls when pushing off on a simple out patterns. Getting turn over calls when they've stopped the runner and stripped the ball instead of calling the player progress stopped. I've witnessed at least 1/2 dozen of each call go their way AND have a significant impact on the outcome of their games!!!

The happy endings stopped last year vs Freedom and they MIGHT get back to Hampton 60/40 chance but whoever they play will trounce the Bulldogs!!! Freedom, Colonial Forge and Oscar Smith are all much better than Westfield this year.

BTW, the answer to the question from last week, Which Power 5 team offered 4 Underclassmen Div I Scholarships over the same weekend, 10 days ago?

Virginia Tech made 4 offers to Oscar Smith Underclassmen during their visit!!!! So, as Westfield is running from playing teams like Highland Springs AND wondering how their mediocre JV teams are going to keep up with the South Region Talent, Smith just keeps rolling and staying at the top.

Enjoy your roller coaster ride of average seasons followed by a few good years. The Tigers will be waiting for y'all every December!!! If they keep Chris Scott as their head Coach, Westfield may NEVER win another State Title!!!

Oh, you mean like this NON-CALL in the 2OT in 2016? Saved a sack that would have effectively ended the game. You are babbling loser talk.

Damn FU needs a “LIKE” button.

OS is 0-4 against WHS (beat them in playoff game before the state title games) you all don’t measure up and it’s all the more embarrassing that you lose to us with al your P5 talent you guys have. Cam’Ron Kelly, arguably your greatest player in recent history couldn't do it with his stacked teams. Go piss off.

And OS is now coached by the cheating former OL coach who stole a State Championship from Centreville in OT with an illegally recruited Tidewater team.

That's the way the Tidewater do. VHSL and school systems let the previous OS cheater coach Morgan do whatever he wanted. Turns out down in Georgia they actually enforce cheating rules and get pushback:

Marietta football to forfeit 8 wins from 2017
https://www.ajc.com/blog/high-school-sports/report-marietta-football-forfeit-wins-from-2017/xeKC5bwKTKA1mIYFs8LUMK/

The finish came in the second season under coach Richard Morgan, who was hired from nationally prominent Oscar Smith High in Virginia. Morgan’s career record is 175-32 with two state titles in Virginia.

Smith, Freedom & Forge all get transfers. Scott will get the best in the 757 area. Why do you think I said Westfield may never win another state title? Get on board or get ready to get left behind!!!! I'm going to enjoy reading how everyone will complain about losing to PW and 757 teams from this point forward!!! So, expect my trolling posts to continue and I'll make sure i remind y'all on a regular basis about how bad your teams are!!

BTW, C. Kelly was only a good athlete which created chaos at Smith. He's the biggest reason Smith sucked last year! His ego overshadowed the coaches and the team!!!

Last, which is worse, losing to Highland Springs over a very bad TD call OR being too cowardice to play them? By my count, Westfield has refused to schedule HS the last 4 years!!!!

Pussies!!! Freedom has played Lake Taylor, Colonial Forge has played Grassfield, Highland Springs comes down to the 757. Even South County has made the trip to Chesapeake!!!

Y'all are entitled, warm little pussies!!! Hell y'all won't even schedule the top 5D schools right in your area!!! Just keep playing it safe. No worries. Oakton, Westfield you'll be identical lower tier teams soon enough!

Someone got Westfield on the brain. Let it go. Not healthy. Westfield is not doing a thing different than they have ever done. If they are doing it all wrong that should make you happy. They have never scheduled a regular season game outside of Fairfax/Prince William/Loudoun County and it's certain they never will.

Wow. I bet he never thought about that at all.

It was more than cold - it was pouring rain the entire game.

The wet and slippery conditions made passing the ball difficult. The teams combined to complete only 4 of 20 passes, including just 1 of 14 for Madison with multiple drops, and the squads combined for 14 fumbles.

"We abandoned our passing game at halftime and just ran the ball," Westfield coach Kyle Simmons said.

This year will be the last we hear of this Kim kid. He won’t do shit at MSU. He’s small with small hands and there’s no reason to project that he’ll grow significantly. He’s benefitted greatly from playing for that program.

He is NOT a BG10 QB. He'll get snapped like a twig during Spring ball. The only chance hell get to play will be as the place holder!

If you saw Oakton play you'd know Walter Payton couldn't make a difference, much less Jared Cole. He'd get pummeled like the current backs playing behind a compromised O line and the worst coaching schemes in the area.

I definitely agree regarding Kim. He is a fine player, but I am shocked that he got an offer from a Big 10 school. He seems like more of an FCS type of player.

...there are some that would say that is exactly what Michigan State is... ;) ...

Yeah Mich State is a bottom tier B10 school. Kim had a better chance of playing at Tech. Over/Under in games he appears in? I’ll set the O/U at 2 and take the under

didn't tiny hands Kirk Cousins go to Mich State? Never bet against the Kimster.
