There are numerous valid reasons a kid can attend a school outside of the district they live in.

Would be much easier to believe if he wasn’t also caught with a kid on the team that lived in Maryland. Everyone knows Henderson is slimy. The county will Poythress him as soon as they finish dealing with their Other problems.

This is the kind of players allowed back on the team after disrespecting a coach because they can’t act right. It’s ridiculous! This kid was kicked off the team and out of school. They want to post this kind of comments about their own coaches??

Please. It wasn't valid. The kid's dad told me how they got away with it.

I'd like to know where you get your information that Coach Henderson did anything wrong. Those are awfully strong words calling a man "slimy" without providing any details and anonymously to boot.

Kicked off football and out of school. Sounds right. What the problem? Alert the coach if it’s still a problem because it won’t be after that!

Not sure this is a step up, more of a lateral move.

Far better conference would mean he gets some respect if he wins. He could go 10-0 at FCHS and people would say he hasn’t beaten anyone.

Its way to late for WS to get someone from the outside, I am sure one of the assistants will get it on an interim basis. Plus Aziz isn't going to leave FC with 2 weeks before the season starts, he has way to much class for that. Now, if the job opens up after the season, he should look at it as an opportunity to move up. I agree, much better conference and has a chance to prove if he can handle the moving up

Coach Taylor pulled that same move when he bailed on SL. I’m sure he’s regretting that decision now. Wishing he had the “Time Stone” for a redo.

Fairfax sucks, they should just stop playing football. No one in the school could give a shit about it. Coach is a jerk less kids than ever coming out. If not for McLean or TJ we are the worst program.all the good kids don’t want to play or deciding to play at Woodson.

How is being on ESPN in a 7x7 tournament going to help a team win a state championship? Answer: it doesn't. So why bother unless you have other motivations.

Day 2 in Charlotte NC, Life Christian Academy comes from the loser's bracket to make it into the Championship game! See recruiting DOES payoff. Not sure how many kids transferred from Northern VA, but they do have plenty of kids from the 757 & 804 area. It's gonna depend on their OL/DL play once the pads get put on. My gut tells me that could be a problem for them.

All other Virginia teams fell kinda early.

History Says 2019 Class 6 Champion Is...

CRF4Dan
CRF4Dan
Richmond Region Football Writer

As many of you know, I do this about the same time every year... I like trends and stats... This year I did it again... I looked at previous champions, what they did the year before in order to give us an idea of who will win it all...

Keep in mind this all in good fun...

Trends-
7 of the last 9 champions reached no less than the 3rd round a year before winning it all.
7 of the last 9 champions won 9+ games a year before winning it all.
16 of the last 18 champions were in the top 8 in ratings the year before winning it all.

Odds-
26 previous champions reached no less than the 2nd round of the playoffs a year before winning it all.
27 previous champions won 8+ games the year before winning it all.
15 of the last 17 champions finished 8th or higher in the ratings a year before winning it all.

Facts-
11 champions made it no further than the 2nd round the year before winning it all.
13 champions won 10 games the year before they won it all.
4 champions were a top seed a year before winning it all.

So who are the teams that fit this mold?

The trends say it should be Freedom, Massaponax, Ocean Lakes, Oscar Smith, Westfield and WT Woodson.

The odds/probabilities say it should be Colonial Forge, Freedom, Hayfield, Massaponax, Ocean Lakes, Oscar Smith, Westfield and WT Woodson.

The facts say it should be Colonial Forge who wins it all.

Common threads are Colonial Forge, Freedom, Massaponax, Ocean Lakes, Oscar Smith, Westfield and WT Woodson...

9 times there has been a repeat 1st time champion and if that is the case than Colonial Forge, Freedom, Massaponax or WT Woodson should be your 2019 Class 6 State Champion.

Everyone is a Woodson hater

Last year, Woodson was picked as low as 4th in the Patriot district and they ended up winning the district (shared with LB and SoCO) and played Freedom for the Region title.

Now I am not foolish enough to say they are going to win the State title, but give them some respect for winning at a program that has not had a winning program in a decade, they have earned that. This isn't a doc coached team!

They return some pretty good athletes on both Offense and Defense and I am hearing they also may get a few transfers.

At best, they win the Patriot again and move on to play and possibly win in the region final. (Remember they are in the easier region this year)
At worst they are 6-4, 7-3 and make the playoffs

Folks on the inside or even on the edge of this program knew last season was Woodson’s chance of being successful due to all the seniors in that class. It wasn’t a secret. Wasn’t great coaching. It was they had pieces and experience. You shouldn’t wonder why the coach tried to get a gig somewhere else. Not just more $$, but due to the fact he knows what he has coming back. Not much talent. Some, but not much. Prediction on Woodson is they will be average to less than so. Not rooting against them by any means. Good luck.

I try to give my honest opinions on the teams that I see in the Patriot district throughout the season. I have no vested interest in any of the teams

Good or bad, here are some thoughts on Woodson:

Lost 90 % of the coaching staff? They lost 1 coach, the DC, who is now the HC at Oakton.

If that senior class last year was expected to be successful, then why was Woodson only picked 4th in the Patriot district last year?

They still have some talent, more then what people are giving them credit for.

As far as the HC trying to leave and the reasons behind it, I have no clue. I do know he is back for this season.

But that fine, go ahead and sleep on them, I think they will surprise a lot of people in the region. I am pretty sure they have earned the respect of the coaches in the region.

The above predictions seem to show that the South Regional Champions are more likely to when the State Title AGAIN in 2019.

For me, I'm wondering how J. Madison didn't get included? And, somehow Westfield is in the mix but isn't really noted as a dominant factor for 2019?

Honestly, I think which ever team comes the closest to beating Highland Springs between Colonial Forge & Oscar Smith will have to be considered as the Favorites to win the Class 6 Title. (The Springers WILL beat both!)).

My thoughts on the Patriot district teams:
Lake Braddock

LB has a very talented team returning and should be right there in the playoff picture.

Very talent QB, WRs TE and has some size on the OL, so the offense will be very good. QB is a highly recruited player, TE committed to Michigan.

On defense, they need to replace a few key players, but they always seem to have someone every year to step up and fill for the graduating players.

They also have some new coaches on the staff (I never bought in to that "best staff in the state" stuff) and apparently Doc didn't either, as he has replaced a number of coaches since he started at LB

At best, with all the talent LB has, they are the team to beat in the area, and make it to the state championship. They have the talent to compete with anyone

At worst, they stumble against teams they should beat and go 7-3 and win a playoff game.

Next up Robinson

Lake Braddock won't make it past the second round of the playoffs until they learn how to TACKLE. Every video of their big time losses, you see nothing but out of position players getting beat then trying to grab a player with a desperately reaching arms. Pretty poor fundamentals by their defense, period. They simply look like a bunch of lacrosse players trying to stay in shape during their off season!

My thoughts on the Patriot district:

Robinson

They look like they will be big upfront, a highly recruited OL who has offers from
most of the Power 5 schools. A young QB who will be tested early, a new OC who wants to throw the ball. Robinson always has good athletes, they will have a good running game, if they can throw the ball, at least a little, then they will be a competitor in the region.

At best, if they can run the Wing T and also keep teams off balance with the pass, they will be tough. A deep playoff run could be possible.
At worse, 6-4 and 1 and done in the playoffs

Net up South County

When was last time ROBO had a good qb? As long as they are one dimensional they will be 5-5 at best. They always lack Rb’s & Wr’s with speed and this year seems no different. In fact worse other than the 1 OL but the game is played 11 on a side. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen their qb’s miss wide open guys.

Coach Curry is still way too obsessed with WHS. Why mention Tyler O’Reilly rushing for 165 against WHS? You all lost that game and he didn’t mention the turnovers and what else is did the rest of the team do? I will admit he seems to be off the juice-coke and has calmed down some. Too bad he can’t get his team to play as well against the other 9 teams as they do against WHS.

Ok will someone from tilly tell me why anyone thinks they play well against WF
? I have see this said before. They got crushed two seasons ago and last year wasn’t as bad. Is that why?! Crazy. If you know anything about WF then you know they don’t like to embarrass other Concorde teams/coaches. And being obsessed with them is like the bills being obsessed with the patriots. That team I saw two seasons ago was the worst Concorde team I have ever seen. Yes worse than those old Herndon teams or last years oakton team. They had a kid playing wideout who is now a lineman. They wouldn’t tackle anyone and completing a pass wa out of the question. You are what ur record says you are. 3-17 is brutal. 3 wins in two years?! Has that ever happened at tilly before?

Not sure the the hard on for Westfield when Madison beat them worse the past couple of years; 37-14 last year.

Agree on that Chantilly team from two years ago (worse than Oakton or Fairfax last year)... 49-0 several minutes before halftime...lots of poorly thrown passes, interceptions, blocked punts, and fumbles...terrible line play on both sides for the ball. 2nd team and JV was already in by halftime.

Either Westfield or Madison's freshman team could have beaten that Chantilly team...

Only thing need to know is that Westfield will again be best, it is ordained by God. Plus we are going to outdo even our old favorite for half time snacks - Mahi Mahi Tacos - this year by having our own catch and kill your own baby calves so we can serve our guests fresh Veal Parmagiana - Coach Simmons is going to personally pick all the best prime cuts and serve the Veal at halftime because we all know he does not need to actually coach the team as he has 17 head coaches on the payroll.

GO BULLDOGS!

Don't underestimate Chantilly. They are loaded with 2 and 3 year starters. Not to be discounted. They will definitely have a winning record and make the playoffs. This sort of reminds me of how everyone laughed off Woodson last year even though they had a huge veteran senior class. They ended up 1 play from being regional champions. Chantilly is 2019s Woodson.

Woodson beat SoCo and hung in there against Robo and LB the year before. Chantilly didn’t show as much promise this year, but they will be better. Probably 6-4 or 7-3 and one and done in the playoffs.
Lastly, Woodson’s sophomore qb took them to the next level. They don’t win in the playoffs without his play. Chantilly
Doesn’t have that guy. Their qb is a liability.

Woodbridge sounds loaded again. Coach bragging about a bunch of players that transferred to Woodbridge. They will have like 8 or 9 D1 players this season. Wonder if they will make the playoffs though.

Stone Bridge coach says this is the best team he's ever had (this is the fourth year in a row he has said that). Also bragged about how he has a "legit" transfers. Nice of him to throw that in there. They are "legit." This time.

Additions to what was already the "best staff" in the state will make them even better.

what I learned from Media Day for the NOVA football coaches that I saw

LB Doc wants win September...hello the playoffs start in November, also still trying to figure out how to beat SoCo...let it go! they had your number last year

Fairfax Taylor is giving trophies for participation and doesn't care about wins or losses. Not much talent to work with

MT Vernon Fitts he thinks 7v7 is a good indicator for a successful season and he has a few National district all stars and thinks he can compete with anyone in NOVA...is anyone impressed?

Centreville Shields seems pretty happy to be at Centreville and is looking to continue the success they have had. I think they will be in the think of things this year

Westfield Simmons always humble even though he has one of the best program around. Changed his staff around, but the results will be the same. Still the best!

Woodson VanAcker very humble trying to continue rebuilding a program that hasn't been very good until last year. I think they may continue being successful this year

Falls Church Aziz doesn't seem very optimistic on this years team, could be a down year

Oakton Morgan seems like a good guy, not sure that will translate into wins this year. But maybe in the future

One of the more intriguing storylines this year will be the addition of Champe to the 6A division. They are the only 6A school in LOCO. As they moved up from 3-5 they were steadily improving and last year played some really close games against the top teams in LOCO. 2 seasons ago they beat CVHS and lost a close game last year. They have WHS 2nd game of the season which will be a good barometer as to how they will do in 6A. They seem to have some big kids up front and a D1 WR. Can their Qb get him the b-ball when teams will game plan to take him away? Overall even if they stumble against WHS, I think they will be a playoff team with 7 maybe 8 wins reg season and maybe win a games or 2 in playoffs.

PWCS is making a point this year to limit the folks on the sideline to only coaches that have been vetted by HR. This means no football alumni, friends of coaches, etc allowed on the track or sidelines.
I know this has always been a VHSL rule.

There was a lot of stink last year with Freedom-WB having some coaches not vetted by HR. Not sure how that ended up or if there was truth to that. Wondering if this is the reason for the sudden concern.

Any other counties enforcing this rule?

That explains Coach Finnerty's comments. He mentioned they were abandoning the passing game ("no more 70% pass - 30% run") and were going to go to the ground game and pound the ball. I was thinking why? Who's going to run the ball? I wonder why he didn't disclose that at media day.

It doesn't matter if the DL & LB can't stop anyone, if their OL can't protect him. The Bulldogs are the underdogs now.

Well Doc said this is the best team LB has ever had and is preparing for 15 games. There may be as many as 5-6 D1 players on this team.

They have been working hard all off season when a lot of other teams were out playing for tee shirts in the 7v7 leagues. Doc is working to hang banners.

These boy are dedicated committed have been significant so everyone is excited at LB

The days of Westfield being the dominate team in the area is over

I hope Lake Braddock has a great year and gets the state championship monkey off their back.

But seriously - I do have a question. I watched Coach D's media day presentation and he mentioned they have 10 kids from last year's team that are going to be playing some level of college football this fall.

My question is - how is this possible? I was at the Lake Braddock-Stone Bridge game last year and SB simply decimated them as if they were ankle-biters. Players didn't look like they had a clue what they were doing, were scared to make plays, appeared to give up on the game after the first TD. How is it possible that a team with 10 next-level players could perform that poorly?

10 college players from last years team and they couldn't win one playoff game?
Simple answer, the coaching is horrible at Lake Braddock

They had a tough schedule
All the good players graduated
They had a tough draw in the playoffs
The players were not focused
Some of the teams had bigger players

Something could very well be going on at Oscar Smith. They for sure do what schools up here don’t do: play the best. They open up against Highland Springs. For those who don’t know about Highland Springs, ask Mickey and Stone Bridge.

Oscar Smith could very well be the D6 favorites this year.

Highland Springs plays the toughest schedule in Virginia HS football in 2019. They will be the #1 ranked team in the state, period. In December, they'll be playing for their unprecedented 5th straight state Title..

The 6 South Regional Champ should be the favorites for the Class 6 State Title! The South Regional is going to be brutal!

Region C & D some straight trash. South is so much better. Don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Don't think for a minute that those 6C & 6D Coaches weren't ready to send those PW Country Schools into the South Region!!! Whoever can claim the northern region crown, has the opportunity to Dominate for quite a while. Plus there's a real good chance that the Southern Reg Champion would had to travel 3 hours to play the for their Regional Championship the week before the State Title Game!!!!

As discussed before this is merely returning things to the way they were. What do you want? 10 teams in the south and 50 in the north?

And how many state titles have come out of 6D in this decade? Yeah they are real trash....
PWC and the beach play with such strict boundaries too.

Braddock lost twice to a much less talented South County team two weeks in a row.
