i got pulled over the other night for my headlight being out and the cops ran my name and my b/f name and we had a warrant in a different county for possession of marijuana under 2 oz i got bailed out for 200$ and and now i have court what will happen if its my first time and im 21 years old will i get a fine and probation and will i have to do it in that county

so your first idea was to come to an internet thread for legal advice? I would probably call a lawyer or two specializing in drug cases.

You will have to go to trial in Michigan, do community service in Montreal, Canada, then probably a couple of days in GITMO. After you get out, you'll have to report to a probabtion officer where ever they tell you....Orlando, New Dehli, San Antonio..and you better not be late.

Typically first time marijuana offenses are diposed of by whats called a "251 disposition". Basically, the disposition of your case will be witheld for a year. If, during that time, there are no further offenses and you participate in a court ordered drug program, your case will be dismissed after the year and your sucessful completion of the program(s). I would still consult an attorney, but that is typical in Fairfax County for first time offenders.

It's not a big deal and it sucks to go through, but even a mediocre attorney should be able to plea you down to an 18 month license revocation, 25 weekends of community service and a fine of about a thou.

Take the plea and move on with your life and don't let these smartasses here get you down.

Why are you even possessing an item that is illegal to possess? All this could have been avoided had YOU OBEYED THE LAW!!!

Lauren, in Va. there is no charge of <2oz of marijuana, there is < than 1/2 oz which is a misdemeanor, and more than that is a felony.

You don't have anything to worry about, unfortunately I can say that I've been through that same thing plus quite a bit more. Ummm, yes, you'll have a fine of like $600, and another one for like $140 I believe, though I forgot why. As for probation, you can get it transferred to here in FFX. Hope the info was helpful.
