What are the best places around Fairfax county to get an awesome haircut? I mean a real nice job, for a fair price. I don't want the typical shave-up jobby, or a blonde basket, I want a very professional, smart-looking haircut. I went to a place in Centreville, but they didn't do too good of a job there for me, and I want to get suggestions. I would also travel up to 20 miles to purchase this haircut.

Springfield Beauty Academy - all work done by students. The students are monitored by the teacher so they really try to do a good job on people. A typical mans haircut is less than $10 and they spend a good 1/2 hour on you. a

These students are graduating soon and will go to work for salons charging $75 - $100. You get the same quality haircut for a fraction of the cost.

I have been using them for years and have only once got a bad haircut, which was immediately fixed by the owner.

I use the school in Annandale near LRT on Annandale Road

Paradise Cuts in Fairfax (look them up on internet) is run entirely by women in bikinis and sarongs. You get soda and a massage along with your cut. I recommend them for the experience but the price is not exactly discount and the stylists are not hired for the cutting skills as much as their... "presence of person" so to speak.
For somewhat expensive ($25 + tip) but good quality, check out Patricia Sallon de la Bella in Vienna.

Barber shop on Main street in fairfax just after the route 50/ 29 intersection. Its in the shopping center with the 7-11. piano place and the latino market. Americano marcado or something. Lotta old men cutting hair in old style barber chairs. You know they are good cuz they are grumpy and have old issues of sports illustrated

There's a kid's discount, LOL. Good place to bring your kid for cheap and then hang out.

Reminds me of the days when my dad used to take me to hooters and I would bring my neighbor (we were probably 12-11 or so) and they would autograph Frisbees for us.

Hair stylist in DC off of PA ave. take $60-70 with you. He will get the job done.

Or if you want to spend $13+tip go to fair oaks mall across subbarro there is a hair cuttery that does a good job......
