Right a terrible wrong was changing the name of the school and having tax payers pay the bill.

If they want something done with the field, raise the money themselves. The Lake Barcroft area has plenty money, let them foot the bill.

Why is that the Board of Education’s issue or fault? So the work was less than stellar. Start with the company who did the work.

$15 bucks, some paint and a few beakers and its done. Are these parents upset by Jeb Stuart Park next door?

They are correct. If there was more affluence it would have been corrected. That though is the problem. At the outset it was pointed out that there was more to it than just changing the name. The School and County also would need to change a number of other things to reflect the name change. Changing those things would be expensive and FCPS didn't have the surplus funds to do it.

Don't worry we were told by name change supporters. The community will gladly fund it. Then let the community raise the money first and then we'll change the name, said some opponents. Can't do that said the supporters because we cannot let the injustice continue, and besides only by going forward with the name change will the community actually raise the funds.

We changed the name. The community has failed to come forward with the money to pay for the needed changes. So now county taxpayers are funding these changes, and the county has better things to be spending its money on. That means some vestiges of the old name will linger longer than desired by name change advocates. Get used to it or pull out your wallet and pay for it yourselves.

With spirit wear you can buy at the mall, no wonder their team lacks motivation.

I’ve gotta believe most of the kids who attend that school have seen worse things in their lives than an old logo underneath a fresh coat of paint. It’s just the same old codgers who wanted to keep it “JEB Stuart” who are feigning outrage. Hasn’t stopped the football team from getting off to a 4-1 start.

Why change Stuart and not Lee HS?
