Innovators make bad futurists. Hooking up our somewhat pricey-per-line telephone network to the unlimited Internet have brought costs way down (I can have fully functioning company PBX in the cloud for under $300 a month).
Problem is, there is no technology to prevent spoofing. No way of blocking incoming spam calls from other countries. No traceability. I'd argue the Internet has broken phones as we used to know them. 1/3 of my mobile calls this year are spam and as a small business rep, I really can't use a blocker, as I need to be able to hear from new customers.
This is an absolute failure of government to require some form of accountability in our communications networks, and a failure of the technology companies to implement the same without a government mandate.
As audio bots get better, this is going to get worse before it gets better.

I get about 10 - 20 calls from a number using the first 6 digits of my number and the last 4 digits change up randomly making it almost impossible to block.

verizon, at&t, ma bell, southern bell, etc are claimed by wikipedia to all be headquartered and major share owned by GERMANY
the contracts for services are all in ASIA, call for help you get an asian controlling your phone

I have found that if you answer the phone but do not say anything, their computer will not activate their automated system. After about 6 attempts, the calls stop. I started getting another set of callers after some job searching by live callers. I started the same interaction of answering the call but not speaking. After a week of about 25 calls, they have almost stopped.
Give this a try & let's see if it works for you.
