Worst FCPS Elementary School for lice

Anyone else out there dealing with it going around the school already? Just got word it’s cropped up already. It was rampant at OakView all last year, and the year prior, and the year before that. But as of last year, the school administration stopped notifying parents even when other cases are in your kids classroom. you only know to check your kids heads via word of mouth from other parents. The school also doesn’t check heads in classrooms known to have cases.

Is it like this throughout the whole county? Lice are contagious... Schools used to give a shit.

I just don’t understand stopping head checks with kids, and straight up refusing to notify parents and send out letters when it’s going around the school.

The only way people get notified is apparently on the parent Facebook group.

It’s ridiculous and irresponsible. Is it this way (not just lice... but the lack of any notification letter) at every elementary school, or just Oak View?

Everyone with a child knows that all elementary schools have lice outbreaks. Don't be a glum cunt.

Deal with it.

Of course they don't send out an notification. It would stigmatize the children who cause these infestations and outbreaks of diseases that we had dealt with previously...

Its a growth industry - Lice Treatments Centers, the Lice Place, etc..

As Queen Sharon says "celebrate diversity."

Of course they have outbreaks in elementary schools Doug. But since when is it normal for school principals to NOT notify parents that it’s been reported in the classroom? This is now the new “normal” for FCPS public schools... people find lice on their kid (that’s normal... it happens), call the school, notify them, and treat the kid. But the school DOESNT notify any other parents. The excuse is that lice are “normal” and “just a nuisance.”

I’m with the others... the decision to stop notifying people is because our schools are full of people now who just live with lice and don’t treat them. So kids are getting infested ALL YEAR LONG and the schools are tired of sending out letters cause it looks bad. The schools look like disgusting cee’s pools and parents would be flipped out if they new how much of it is going around.

Solution? We’re just going to surrender to it and let all the children in the county have lice infestations, and minimize the problem with cure luttle liberal words like “nuisance.” It’s a much more pleasant word than “parasite” or infestation.”

I wonder if they will have a similar policy for scabies and pinworms.... just a “nuisance.” No notification to parents necessary. Just talk to Junior about the dangers of holding hands with other immigrant kids at school who scratch their ass a lot... especially before lunch time.
