Company owner information

I want to see if anyine would know how to find out information about owners of a company. Yea..Yea alot of you Einstein's will suggest who runs the place etc. But this place (4 schools) is run by a excutive director (each school has its own set of management)& above the executive director is lawyers. The owner died back in the 90's and her children aren't allowed in any say of the company. Anyone know where to start in getting ahold of the infamous "lawyers" info?
