There is no need to tip in cash.

Type on credit card or don’t tip at all

A nail tech makes $160000 all cash

Report them to Fairfax County revenue and Ira

They need to pay fair share.

It's all super-visible. The techs are all licensed by local government. The salons are all licensed by local government. The salons all have IRS employer ID numbers simply so that they can remain in business. There are very stiff penalties for under-withholding of income and/or payroll taxes. Only idiots even try that.

I don't understand why people expect us to help them duck taxes while we have to pay them. I work in a business where people tip. I pay taxes on them and all other income, too. I always have. I own my home, so I have to pay my taxes if I want to keep it. Since Hillary didn't win, I don't have to LIKE it, I just have to do it.

If I have to pay taxes, why shouldn't they? They don't help me duck taxes, why should I help them? In an ideal world, if everyone paid his fair share, perhaps I wouldn't have to pay so many taxes. Of course, since most governments around here are run by liberals, taxes only go up and more of them get invented. The Universal Liberal Solution To All Problems Facing This Country is: taxes, Taxes, TAXES, TAXES, TAXES, TAXES, TAXES, TAXES and MORE TAXES.

At the federal level, there is not a connection between taxes and spending. We'll overspend this year by nearly $1 trillion, for instance.

And at the Trump level, there is not at all a connection between what he says and what he actually does. (3,500 documented lies and deliberately misleading statements in less than 19 months.) You may think you got a big fat tax cut at the first of the year. You got peanuts, and not even a full bag -- just a puny shake or two.

Often the owners do not give the tips to the technicians. The only way to ensure they get the tip is to pay cash. Who the heck cares if the IRS gets a cut. Stop being petty. They sit all day inhaling cancerous fumes and deserve whatever they get.

^^^ More rumor than fact. Relevant skills can be moved next door in next to no time. The industry standard is that techs keep their tips. It’s tough for any single salon to buck an industry standard.

I quit going to Lynn Nails in Fairfax Station for cheat reasons.
They ask if you want to pay cash for a few bucks discount. If you agree they take your cash and don’t ring it up in the register.
It’s bad enough they surely don’t pay taxes on their tips.
These foreign ladies are making big bucks and cheating us all.

If a nail shop isn't paying its Techs, the solution isn't to tip the Techs in cash. The solution is to find another nail salon. There are only about 500 of them in this area, so it should not be hard to find one convenient that does a good job. Taking your business elsewhere hits the owner where it matters most, in her pocket.
