Do you support a Medicare for all System?

It appears to the only option we have left to fix this healthcare mess. It will likely fail but we've run out ideas.

The mixed public/private system from 2010 was fine until asshole Trump started messing around with it. Now we can either put that back the way it was or simply go full single-payer. It’s not like there is a lot of mystery left at this level.

You live in the swamp. I guess you won't mind paying 60% income taxes AND likely a National VAT? If you wanna be like Europe, just go there.

Fine as long as you're not one of those who had to pay for it and use it.

Sucked for those of us who are self employed and had no choice. Still sucks.

If they can get the small group and skinny plans working then that may help.

Single-payer won't work in the US. Too much money. Maybe a Medicare-like major medical coverage for catastrophic events with private insurance or out-of-pocket for the rest.

Don't lie, your Whisky Burn Face McAwful!

Medical insurance was fine till Obamacare ruined it. I still get medical bills with illegals names and my address and they were a big part of the whole problem to begin with , hospitals getting stuck with illegals bills

Hell no to Medicare for all that will make it all worse

Get rid of Obamacares all or nothing selections, let people choose what they want
with Obamacares no life limit and no exclusion for pre existing conditions, people who want catastrophic med insurance, that's their business and let them have it if they pay for it, like it was before Obamacare

The no life limit and no exclusions for pre existing conditions were the two best things about Obamacare, the rest forget about it.

I do, as long as it's like the British system where the rich can still purchase their own private insurance and not like the Canadian system where it's illegal to provide private medical care.

I don't support universal healthcare AND social security. We can't afford both. So no Social Security, but a universal healthcare that feature old-age homes for poor people who didn't plan for their retirement.

Everyone has a right to healthcare, no one has a right to a government-subsidized retirement.

Lucky for you because you will not need health care once the death panels decide you are not worthy of living into a long retirement.

No, douchebag, health care was a national disgrace prior to Obama. As a nation, we paid double what other developed nations paid and still got what was the worst overall health care in the group. The private sector/fee-for-service model was and is a total bust. Any idiot would have known that.

In reality, asshole, illegals make every effort to avoid all forms of contact with "the system." They DO NOT go to a clinic or hospital nearly as often as they ought to. It's your downscale goober natives with trash insurance who skip out on bills and drive up hospital costs.

In addition to public health care providers such as primary care doctors and hospitals, many private clinics offering specialized services also operate in Canada. Costs in private clinics are usually covered by private insurance policies, which will typically pay around 80% of the costs.

> I don't support universal healthcare AND social

LOL! We have NO CHOICE but to pay in one way or another for both health care and elder care regardless of your amazingly stupid notions about it. The only questions are over how to expand the coverage and efficiency of these programs. Developed countries (and others) around the world are doing a BETTER JOB of it than we are.

Another liberal Democrat not out of touch with reality, this person knows what's up, but they are a liar as always to shill for illegals

People all over NOVA get bills from medical offices and hospitals with Spanish names of them and their address. I have many times.

Illegals don't get preventative care, but when they get sick or have a accident they get treatment, they know everyone must be treated if there illegal or not

They give someone's address as theirs and that's where the bill goes

And the medical costs are passed down to everyone and they are huge

>They DO NOT go to a clinic or hospital

Your full of shit, really laughable with that outright lie, anyone that's been in a medical office or hospital emergency room in the area knows it too, if their like you they will lie as well

If the poor does not get health covalent what happens? They may die. I have really good coverage, yet my doctors never promise me immortality.

I oppose actively denying anyone coverage, but I’m not paying for anyone else’s. It’s a consumer service, if you want it, buy it.

Life’s not fair. Get used to it.

The problem with medical care today is the cost. Handing the whole shebang to government never has been and never will be the answer to reducing cost. Instead, we need to find ways to increase competition.

I believe it was PJ O'Rourke who said if you think medical care costs a lot today, just wait until it's free!

The goverment does not need to make a profit. Insurance companies opposed a public option in health care because it meant that they could not compete.

That generally refers to things like prescriptions and dental not already provided by the Canadian Health system. In several of Canada's provinces, private insurance was banned. In 2006, a lawsuit ruled that such a prohibition applies to Quebec, not all of Canada, and only if the waiting times for services are "excessively long" (which they frequently are):

"Six of Canada's ten provinces used to ban private insurance for publicly insured services to inhibit queue jumping and so preserve fairness in the health care system. In 2005, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that in Quebec, such bans are unconstitutional if the waiting period for care is excessively long. However, this ruling only applies within the Province of Quebec."

"We have NO CHOICE" - of course we do. "Developed countries (and others) around the world are doing a BETTER JOB of it than we are" - because we foot the bill for their militaries, so they get to spend the delta on their social services. If the EU would pay its fair share of the out-dated treaty that defends it from those scary Russians, we'd have more money to spend at home. I wonder what the already taxed-and-rationed NHS would look like if they also had to pay for their own national defense.

"It appears that you have no fucking clue at all as to how Social Security works." Oh, I do - it's a giant Ponzi scheme whereby one generation is taxed to pay the other, and that returns 1% on its investment, which means it really loses 2% when factoring for inflation. What makes up that difference? COLAs. Who pays for those? Uncle Sam, via subsidy. There are a host of others subsidies that you can apply for that will pay out above your normal disbursement.

Now scream and curse and call me names more names, triggered gandpop - that's all you wacky lefts do these days.

MORON!!! The death panels already exist in the form of insurance companies. The difference with government provided health care is the fact that the death panels are government bureaucrats in the form of an over used system dependent upon a limited budget. It is not a very humane system. Check out the UK problems of budgetary restraints and the effect upon the quality of care. The Guardian provides a thorough albeit somewhat biased coverage.

Might be in the ballpark of being theoretically correct if it was not for the 80/20 rule of government service. That is 80 percent of the work is done by 20 percent of the employees. As proof go to work with your mommy and observe for a day.

First you have to realize that there is no perfect health care system. Even the one in the UK has issues.

If the US had implemented a national health care system after WW2, there might have been a chance. It also might have curbed some of the health care costs such as prescriptions.

First, spend a year (+) in England and try to see a specialist in an emergency. Just hope you don't die of your heart attack in the year(s) it takes before one will give you an appointment. That is why it is so cheap. You get exactly what "you don't have to pay for."
