You're not 'hearing' anything about the highest "rank" because, in the federal government, it's called "grades", not rank you imbecilic douchebag. Only the military has rank. No one who was/is in federal service, including veterans, calls it "rank". What a fucktard you have here.

Acting like you're in the club seats while you're really in some shitass apartment in Falls Church, trying to stretch your measly FERS check so they don't cut off your Internet. Why don't you go spend 8 hours reconning another parking garage you old fuckstick.

Poor baby! The envy is strong today, isn’t it. Meanwhile a retired life of ease is certainly good here in the sweet spot.

In other news, decades of experience with high ranking officials at quite a number of departments and agencies made me one who was in high demand across the board. It was a fun career, but even the best can’t do it forever.

In addition to my FERS check I also receive dividends from my stock portfolio and rental income from properties I bought along the way. Also made a lot of money flipping houses too so please don't pretend retired Feds are only limited to a FERS check.

Bruce Klien III here to offer MHO. Anyone posting on this dismal drivel website has not advanced beyond grade 11 or best grade 12. So those of you above trying to impress the trolls that gather here expose their collective stupidity.

This is a fact. The federal government is full of low performing dimwits at anything below grade 15. Even many of the SES'ers of late - especially those hired on during the previous administration are mostly candidates in a fair and open hiring cycle that might score a grade 7.

Hell, the last request for a departmental budget increase that I read written by an SESIII was incomprehensible. We could not determine what the author was attempting to use as justification for a roughly eighty percent IT increase. Just horrendous damage has been done here where the American Taxpayer is stuck paying these exorbitant salaries to people that clearly are inadequate in their roles. PC is ruining this nation.

Just MHO. No need to insult me now because I do not march down that socialist PC Path.

Mission statements are important documents. That’s why everybody has one. They provide a challenge to produce a brief statement that everyone in a given organization can look to for a high order view and guidance to objectives and purposes. Those who have never been at a high level may not be able to appreciate the importance of the task.

Actually, not a Grandpa yet, but you ever know. And although I would certainly have qualified as being among ‘the best and the brightest’, I still had a couple more degrees to pick up back in the days of JFK. Nothing wrong with a little overkill on the old resume.

Of course. But anyone hired after 1984 didn't have a choice. CSRS was a most excellent retirement system. Almost as good as the Federal Reserve and World Bank. Now those are some good retirement systems. CSRS has a 2% of the high 3 times number of years worked. But you had to pay in 7% over your career. And, while you could contribute to TSP, there was no government match.

FERS has a 1% match (or 1.1% if you retire after age 62) and you have to pay in anywhere from .8% to 4.something% (if you were hired after 2014). Plus, you get up to a 5% match on TSP contributions. FERS employees pay 6.2% into social security and get that on the flip side. Thus, the three legs of the FERS retirement stool.

The WB and FR have 1.6% of your high 3 (which includes any bonuses you get - usually $5000 - $7000 a year), plus the employees don't pay anything into their plan, it's all covered by the banks. And they get 8% matching on their TSP, which is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars at retirement if you have a long career there and max out your contributions. These employees have the same social security gig as the FERS peeps. These are the true golden plans in the government. Good luck getting in though.

Oh, I have skills up the wazoo thanks, one of which is toying with the likes of worthless down-scale assholes such as yourself. It's almost cruel to taunt you with the facts the way I do, but to review, I was already an Assistant VP at a major public utility company when a call came with an offer that I could not refuse -- a chance to come to Washington and work on real problems in the world with the leading people in the field. Obviously, I jumped at such an opportunity and went on to do decades worth of high-level work at the top of pops. It was challenging, fulfilling, rewarding, satisfying -- all those neat things that people want in a career that dime-a-dozen, cog-in-a-machine type slug-people will never come to enjoy. Oh, and the money turned out great as well. That's why I live today in an easy comfort that allows me to do what I want, go where I want, and eat what I want without a tinge of financial concern. So eat your heart out, urchin. You never had a chance to board the boat I sailed away on, and that has made all the difference.

FRB employees contribute 7% of their salary towards the retirement plan
and I have no idea where you came up with the numbers on the bonuses
but they are not automatic and only the top performers receive them.
The FRB is on a Pay for Performance salary plan and it shows. Sit on
your duff in this outfit and they will have you looking for another job
in nothing flat. Too bad the Executive Branch doesn't try the same approach
but the FRB doesn't have any employee unions to deal with.

The Board of Governors is generally referred to as the Fed or FED. The FRB acronym is generally reserved for uses that refer to one or more of the twelve regional banks that the FED oversees and that act as agents for the FED.

Employees use FRB as in Federal Reserve Board and sometimes just "the Board". I only worked there for 30 years so maybe I missed something.

Ummm, I didn't bring up CSRS, you did. I was simply pointing out that there are better retirement gigs out there than either CSRS or FERS. What was the relevance of bringing up a dead retirement system that hasn't been available to anyone hired in the past 35 years and has about 75000 current feds still working it?

The WB is quasi-governmental, with the US government having veto power over major decisions (the only government with such power) and partners with the US Treasury (as the largest shareholder of the WB). They offer a retirement plan inline with the more generous federal retirement plans (as well as their overall benefit package).

The Fed has an automatic 1% contribution, regardless of whether an employee contributes or not. They then match up to an additional 7%, bringing the ceiling up to 8%.

The Fed is no different than any other federal institution. It most certainly has dead wood. It's laughable that you think differently.

I'm not positive about the union or not, but I'm pretty sure they have one (nteu), which is the union that most of the federal financial institutions have.

It's a fact that their retirement is better than either CSRS or FERS. If you retired from there after 30 years, you'd know that. And perhaps the average bonuses of the higher graded (25 and higher) weren't that great when you were there, but now days, they are $5000 or larger for anyone who isn't a complete loser.

These are simply facts. Why you try and argue them is puzzling. Perhaps you just one of those type of people who argue about everything. Good luck with that.

Apparently, you did. The Board of Governors (with the FOMC) is the FED. It's the 12 member banks that are FRB's -- as in FRBNY.

What about the Inter American Development Bank?
Since inception the USA has contributed over one
trillion in tax payer funded projects in latin
countries. Great retirement packages at 2.7%
per year. Managers earn 250k and beyond.
American born generally do not get hired.
I heard it is a better gig than the World Bank.

The World Bank is a multilateral IFI, you dope. It is not at all a USG entity while the Fed -- a creation of the US Congress -- most definitely is.

Coverage Cost

As a participant, you are required to contribute 7 percent of your basic salary to the Board Plan. For purposes of this Plan, basic salary means your regular annual pay plus differential for certain categories of participants, excluding any bonuses, overtime pay, and other extra compensation. These contributions are deducted from your biweekly paychecks on an aftertax basis and sent to the Retirement Trust to be credited to your contribution account. The Board pays any balance of the Plan cost. Your contributions may be refunded if you leave the Board. However, if you withdraw your mandatory contributions, you give up any rights to a retirement benefit. If you do not have contributions in the Plan for any period of service — either because you did not make contributions or because you withdrew contributions — you can make a deposit or redeposit (plus interest) anytime before your retirement date. While you are required to make a 7 percent contribution to the Plan, you are not covered under Social Security. Therefore, your wages are not subject to Social Security tax withholding requirements.

Lets say they take Pay for Performance very seriously. I was there when we made
the transition from rubber stamping GS and OPM guidelines and it was like the difference between day and night for the better. Some jobs were eliminated and some were consolidated with others. Some were just plain downgraded as a result of years of "grade creep". (No more GS/FR Grade 12 secretaries)

Just went back and checked. No, it was definitely you who brought up CSRS.

The WB has a really nice retirement plan. Whether it is a part of the federal government or not. As I said, it's quasi-governmental and US employees also get social security as well and get good all around benefits modeled after the best of the FIRREA benefits. Nice gig if you can get in.

Also heard that Fairfax County has/had a good retirement system. And federal LE is also a good plan (I think they still get 2%, and that's based on a 25% premium pay increase). SES retirees are making $150K, plus TSP, plus social security. Course, you have to be a LE, which would suck for most people.

Dude, my wife is covered under the board's plan. She pays NOTHING. She gets 8% MATCH on her TSP contributions. She also pays social security. Maybe you're confused about the board vs. the banks (I know nothing about what the banks retirement is). The board used to have an old CSRS-style plan way back in the day, but they converted over after the federal government did. The boards plan is 1.3% of high 3 (including bonuses, overtime, and other awards) times year of service up to the current social security integration rate and 1.8% on anything over that. If you're a 25 or higher, that averages out to about 1.6%.

Wrong again. I don't care what kind of paltry retirement check you get. Nor, do I give a shit about Gerry and his protector.

Seriously, you need some help. Just because I regularly own your ass doesn't mean I am behind every post directed at you or every post about you.

Are you ever correct about anything? Why do you presume me to be behind every post about you? Have I scarred you that badly?

Starting tomorrow, I'm out of the country for a couple of weeks. Unlike you, when I am engaged in leisure activities, I am not posting on this website. If you think I am posting over the next two weeks, it is proof positive I live in your addled brain for free.

Again, get some help.

Watching you cry when you get bitch slapped is funny.

The checks are hardly paltry, and that fact actually does trouble you a great deal. Reminder: Your staggering array of past misadventures here has proven that you don't in fact know anything about food, or wine, or coffee, or Viera, or baseball, or scallops, or water taxis, or retirement communities, or water on Mars, or executive car services, or a place called Esca (to imply restaurants in general), or the Water Wars, or even where freaking "downtown" is. You are a god of crude misinformation, a consistently wrong and simplistic douchebag constrained to life in the dumps of long ago outclassed Falls Church City while continuously needing to lie about such a limited existence in order to feel more up to the standards of what far more talented others have rather easily managed to accomplish in front of you. Let's not leave out the streets of Vienna that Water Taxi Boy has repeatedly made a fool of himself over. It's Electric Avenue (not Park Street) that typically supports travel from the Dunn Loring area over to Anita's and the delightful Fresh Market. And speaking of Park Street, the Northwest Passage was easier to find than the supposed Vienna side-street cut-through from southbound Gallows Road over to Park Street. What a blithering idiot this guy is.

And as for his precious Falls Church City, we in the Dunn Loring area have easy access to it via Idylwood Road, but with Tysons, Vienna, and the Mosaic District all as nearby alternatives, who would ever actually go there? The place has no shopping, dining, or other amenities at all. It's a proverbial wasteland.

Thanks for the tip Barb, and of course you're quite right. Those of us in the vicinity of Gallows and Cedar Lane have no real use for Falls Church at all. It's out of step and out of the way. Do these people seriously think that their Target is going to draw people away from the one at the Mosaic District? Seriously? That's not even a thought. Mosaic is a whole community of great places. The Target in Falls Church is in the middle of a drive-by dead zone. I'd have to live right next door even to consider going there, but living right next door would be a really really bad thing to have to do! I'll be staying right here for sure and loving every minute of it. Maybe we should grab the boys and go downtown to Acqua al 2 again sometime soon. That was fun.

Carport is from 2006. Shed is from 2007. Each is much larger than your living room and insured for more than the value of your #1 car. Quality cypress easily goes for $30 per sqft after all.

Nah. You're apparently just some angry old dude who is acting like you used to work at the Fed but don't even know what the retirement system is. Instead you google it. You're not worth the effort to prove you wrong.

For the rest of you, the Fed and WB have the best retirements around. Much better than FERS and better than CSRS if you make over $150K a year there (not that hard to do). All the FIRREA agencies have great benefit packages, but the Fed is the best because of the retirement. Don't listen to the angry old dude. Unless he retired from there 25 years ago, he doesn't know anything about the retirement system there because it changed over to a combined defined benefit/defined contribution plan decades ago right after FERS came around.

Wait... so you actually had to add a carport to that shit shack? LOL!

Hahahahahahahaha

What will you try to impress us with next, the decking for the above-ground pool?

LMAO!

You’re really not very bright, are you. Like many great homes, ours is the product of a series of architectural renovations. By the time of Reno #4, the original carport needed to make way for a second patio level and a new water feature. It looks great. The more recent $3500 addition of new gravel in front of the new carport looks great too. All landscaped to the nines of course. There is really nothing like it anywhere in Falls Church.

Gravel?

I didn't really think that you could top above-ground pool decking, but you did. lmao

Anytime that your benchmark is Falls Church, you're aiming way too low.

There could be much that you don’t realize, but stately gravel driveways are a fairly common feature of upscale homes in this area.

Not sure where that house is, but there's nothing like that anywhere in my neighborhood, and of course, there wouldn't be space enough for it anywhere in yours.

It's obvious you're not sure about almost anything. You're just a sad little man living on a government pension who lies on the underground to try and impress strangers because your own family won't talk to you anymore.

Sad, lying. ex-government loser. Way to go gramps! Now go gum your mush before your angry black caregiver beats your sorry ass again.

Angry? No way. I know where my retirement pay stubs come from.
If you had a wife who works there she could get the recipe for the
world class pecan pie.

I hear they even have a swimming pool on the roof of the
Eccles Building now but don't tell anybody because if word gets
out everybody else will want one too.

Keep in mind that the Fed funds itself. It does not receive any regular appropriations of taxpayer dollars. It does however regularly send its excess profits off to the Treasury. Since 2010, those payments have run in the range of $80 to $90 billion per year.

Precisely. Plus not having to put up with the fiscal budgeting process makes
life much more pleasant. Just kidding about the pool though. :)

There was indeed a pool at one time (though not on the roof) and of course the tennis courts out back. Not sure if either of them is there anymore.

That's a bogus page. You can't get to it from the website. The general benefits can be found here...

https://www.federalreserve.gov/careers-benefits.htm (note the mention of the TSP).

To view the real handbook requires an valid user ID and password on the plan's adminstrators (Anon Hewitt) website. That can be found at www.federalreservebenefits.org. Below is the title page of last year's handbook.

The real question is why you want to lie about all this. Quite bizarre.

If you think I'm lying that's fine with me because I could care less.
What I find bizarre is your claim that your wife works there and contributes
nothing towards her pension plan. I know I did and new hires are no
exception. "Bogus page"? LOL! Now about that pecan pie....

I can assure you there was never a pool. That was something we used
to joke about when folks in the Executive Branch accused of being the
"Club Fed". The tennis courts used to be open to the public with a
reservation but not sure about now because so much changed after 9/11.

The only reason to have a 'stately' gravel drive is that you can't afford to have it paved. Or one might go with stone or nicely done stamped concrete, etc. for a nicer home. But we all know both that and the nicer home are way over your pay grade as a retired fed living in a 50s-construction rambler in Dunn Loring. lol

There can't be two fucking old retired douchebags on this thread that can be as stupid as the asshole trying to tell us Falls Church is the same as Great Falls or the pecan pie faggot. Thus, we have to assume it is just one old retired douchbag who has nothing better to do than post on here constantly (when he's not reconning parking garages for 15 hours). It's obvious Alzheimer's has set in badly. He'll start arguing with himself here shortly.

Agreed for the most part. However, I doubt this poster is really old or retired. More like a 13 year old waiting for school to start up again. I don't know any old people who troll forums. If true, that would be truly sad.

God, you’re stupid. Gravel creates a permeable surface. That’s important in helping to curb erosion and pollution and preserve the ecological beauty and balance that help define life in the Sweet Spot. Dumbasses living in places that have been allowed to deteriorate into dusty dumps might not have any reason for such concerns of course. They can go ahead snd crap the place up without making any real difference. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

I espy an abundance of envy and butthurt oozing out from some of those not presently posting while enjoying a soothing biweekly pedicure that will be followed by lunch at an upscale area restaurant that many cannot afford to dine at either. Such a pity for the huddled masses...

Yeah, your little 30' strip will make all the difference when we've paved 80% of NoVA. Right down the road from the massive new 50-Gallows intersection and Mosaic development that you love so much which creates 100-year runoff events all on its own. lol

The only reason that you can get away with the cheap fix is that you live in a crappy 50s construction rambler. The 'stately' Frednecksburg gravel drive would never be approved in any better neighborhoods. That's the kind of shit that you see in West Springfield so the illegals can park 6 cars and a landscape truck in the yard.
