Lake Braddock baseball coach resigns after 17 years

What happened there?
What a hell hole that school is.

Without knowing anything but the behavioral aspects of the situation it sounds like you have an autocratic principal that likes to have his own people in certain positions and firmly believes in the old adage of not letting the door hit you in the ass when you are leaving the building.

As a retired FCPS coach/teacher of 30+ years, I can tell you that this happens all the time, especially when a new principal takes over.

All the coaches will be gone from LB, if they were hired under Dave, they will we out. Even the beloved on this board Doc, will be out, at the end of the football season.

LB is cleaning house and it will be a total different look by the Spring of 2019.

New DSA New Principal will want their own people

Follow the money. And check the receipts.

Drain the swamp. And ditch the duplicity.

Hire new coaches. And let players play (based on merit and not baseball camp contributions and coercion).

He wasn't a big fan of multi sport athletes. He discouraged them from playing other sports. Had he welcomed more multi sports athletes, he may have won a few more region and state titles.

Unless you were a baseball player, he wasn't very popular among the students. Even then, not many baseball alumni came back to see him, that speaks volumes.

He did it his way and did well, so hard to argue with the success he had.

Bill Park -

Does the management/leadership at the Navy (OPNAV) know that you used government time and resources to write your complaints about LB Principal Dave Thomas and Athletic Director Mike Clark in you attempt to get them fired? I doubt they would agree that would be a good use of taxpayer dollars. That’s fraud, waste, and abuse.

Is he a pedo? Did he get called on it? That's why people usually resign from these type of roles.

LB seems to have a long history of coaches acting inappropriately towards the female students and admins trying to sweep it under the rug. What do they put in the coffee in the teachers lounge over there?

LB has a long history of coaches just acting inappropriately toward students in general and that's the truth. If you're an LB grad and are reading this, I bet you're nodding in agreement.

Kings Park lifer, class of '89 here. LB Grad checks out. I don't what enrollment is these days but LB having as many students as it is creates an environment where not just coaches but any faculty or administration can basically conduct themselves towards students however they wish with little recourse...assuming no witnesses, of course.

We had a gym teacher named Don Seemuller who was a bigoted, misogynistic piece of trash. He went on record with the school newspaper (The Bear Facts?) and after a few months of debate with the school board was finally dismissed. Once he was called to the mat, he expressed complete incredulity and tried to play the "I was kidding" card...

Of course, in today's world he would be America's Educator of the Year...

LBSS has a decades-long history of chauvinistic, crass, autocratic, racist, and duplicitous coaches.....

https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/F2/878/1578/167129/

Dear Editor,

As a male physical education teacher at Lake Braddock, I was somewhat taken aback by the recent letter accusing some members of our staff of chauvinism. I cannot speak for every member of the staff, but as for myself, I like girls, and the many things they can accomplish. My two females at home are a sixteen year old whom I permit to chauffeur my son to and from his many activities, and my wife who is an adequate cook and housekeeper. My wife also does light yard work enabling me to play golf, and pursue many other masculine activities.

Hopefully this letter will convince those girls in physical education at Lake Braddock that we have the utmost respect for their feminine talents.

Sincerely,

Don Seemuller

You omplain when LB wins and you complain when LB doesn’t win. There’s no controversy at LB anymore now so move on to complaining about something and somewhere else. How any coach works there with this treatment the standard is beyond comprehension. By the way, the PE teacher referenced above in the court case? Mr. Seemuller? He died a few years ago. The whole ordeal is really old news. Enough with the complaining.

It is never enough. Fuck that old fuck Seemuller. If he said that shit and it was your sister or your mother you would not be so quick to dismiss him.

People die...and I hope in his case it was a painful death. Words live forever...and he wrote all of that long before social media and it will haunt his memory forever.

He was a bad guy. He said and did far more bad stuff than good stuff.

It’s time to clean house with the coaches! Starting with Football! Kerns put Athletics in the hole along with Doc. Who needs to spend $26,000 on team meals?! There weren’t even that many key SS on the team last year and from the sounds even less this year! And the fees along with fundraising?? Parents are your eyes not open? The donations?? Hello?!

The point of school is education and preparation for college or university study. It's fine if public high schools have sports teams but, tax revenues should not be used to fund high school athletics.

Baseball has been berry, berry good to me.

Thank goodness, Lake Braddock baseball will now be an openly competitive, spirit-filled team now instead of a dictator-controlled, butt-boy operated, gang-bang behind the shed, overly-gel-infected-hair-styled, whitey-tighty, stick-in-the-ass, malaprop-retard, can't-pronounce-his-own-name mistake on the Lake joke of a program.

Punks leave the building...leave the diamond....leave the dugout....flaps down.

Sounds like your kid was one of the fat boys on the bench eating the extras. That or one of the coaches who was receiving the extras. Moneys like like can go to training and equipment because it sure didn’t help them win.

Sounds like a great idea, I'm glad you thought of this. Let it be so. Just have ICE ride home with the kids on their bus. Just load Everyone back on it & drive it all the way to Honduras! Drop em off there & come back for another load!

With that principal and old AD finally gone maybe it won’t be a cesspool pool for sports and young athletes finally.

Wish my kids could have benefitted. The list of bad stuff from athletics over there is long and widely reported on here along with the girls b-ball program from 5-6 years ago. People tried to tell FCPS but they looked the other way and protected the adults. Truly a sad fall from grace.
