GOP is abandoning Trump after Helsinki
Posted by: The next thing ()
Date: July 17, 2018 11:11AM

Already on the ropes with voters over being identified with his cruel family separation policies, GOP lawmakers are running away from Donald Trump as fast as they can over his widely denounced and anti-US comments while meeting with and playing spineless toady to Putin. This may be that last straw that no one can explain away that becomes to tipping point for the end of Donald Trump.

You people are idiots.

Helsinki was about keeping Russia out of the North Korean situation, because things are about to start.

I actually watched the press conference and the Putin interview yesterday.

Did any of you? Or are you just regurgitating what the media feeds you?

Bottom line... Trump’s comment regarding his own intelligence community’s assessment was poorly worded and stupid. But he did NOT side with Putin. He made a stupid equivocation. There’s a difference. Which people with the capacity for objective analytical thought can actually grasp.

As usual - our idiots in the media on the right and the left decided to fill in the blank regarding what was or wasn’t said. And the intellectually lazy public just ate it up, rather than listening to both Trump’s and Putin’s own words.

And liberals really SHOULD watch that Putin interview... and get a clue. Did he try and run a psy-op on the American public? Yes. As he so deftly pointed out though... was this “hacking” so effective that it actually controlled American citizen’s thoughts and caused them to change votes? What a joke - of course not. Why are the Dems running around trying to make the case that the stupid Russian psy-op was far more effective than it really was?!? Who is really undercutting the legitimacy of our elections at this point - Putin with his team of obnoxious prankster hackers, or all the Democrats running around squaking about hysterical “collusion” allegations and making it sound like Putin is the great and powerful Oz instead of some tin pot dictator?!?

I can appreciate people disliking Trump, and disliking his policies. The Russia collusion hysterics just make the Democrats look like dysfunctional sore losers incapable of selling the public on their own policies...

Well said. I voted for Trump for two reasons. One, to put the illegals on the run and two, to support the 2nd Amendment. He's making good on both campaign promises.

^^^ Tell Madison Avenue that their ads are a waste and have no effect on the habits of consumers. Your words would be greeted with howls of laughter.

Meanwhile, the margins of Trump's unexpected wins in close states were so small that even low-ball estimates of the effects of troll-farm fake news turn out to be enough to have swung the election.

I did watch the press conference. Not live but I did watch it. I also listened to interviews on how his comments were interpreted, not just here but in Russia and elsewhere. You say he made a stupid equivocation but did not side with Russia. Among Russians I heard though, that stupid equivocation allowed them to believe that Mr. Trump was siding with them. It was hardly a "Mr. Gorbachov, tear down this wall" statement.

Mr. Trump speaks as if he is the audience of his own comments. He either does not get or does not care that the way he speaks can be misinterpreted by those whose views differ from his own. Even in domestic politics this can have the potential to cause problems. (Charlottesville for example). In diplomacy the consequences can be worse. There is a time for trusting your instincts and being genuine. There is a time to admit you don't have the knowledge and experience, and that you need to be guided by others. Theresa May and now Putin. Mr. Trump has shown he needs help when it comes to diplomacy.

You are missing the point about the Mueller investigation. On this your efforts at objectivity fail.

^^^ Seriously?!?

Why don’t you ask a Trump voter why they voted the way they did? You might get a a surprising list of answers that have nothing to do with troll farms.

The crap the troll farms peddled on social media was completely irrelevant, and only liked and shared by people who were obviously already pro trump anyway.

The Russian psy-op targeting the DNCs emails, and releasing ones that revealed that the DNC basically rigged their own primary debates in favor of Hilary didn’t influence independents one way or another. The emails did piss off far leftist Bernie supporters - but those people were NEVER going to vote for Trump, and were unlikely to support Hilary either anyway.

The issues that DID sway independents toward Trump in swing states were things like 2nd amendment rights, differences of opinion on an acceptable immigration policy for the country, differences of opinion on the best economic policies for America, differences of opinion on abortion and religion’s role in our society and a concern about todsy’s Democratic candidates picking a Supreme Court justice with respect to those issues, and last but not least, the general perception that even though Trump is a completely obnoxious New Yorker... Hillary is a completely corrupt and dishonest career politician, who came across as feeling entitled to the presidency. Her attitude was a major turn off to many moderates... even more so than Trump’s boorishness.

But hey - go ahead and keep on telling yourself this all turned out this way because of Russian troll farms. Then please - by all means - nominate Pocahontas or Kampala Harris or one of the Democratic party’s new heroes, who all seem to have failed history class when it comes to whether or not Socislism has EVER worked in real world examples... go ahead. Nominate a communist. You’ll get your ass kicked again in 2020.

Hey, you really do not know much.

So much of what Russia did was voter suppression.

Voter Suppression was the issue?

So what you’re saying is that after emails written by DNC officials were hacked and publicly released... your own party’s voters became disheartened and failed to turn out?

Why not get pissed off at your own people’s dysfunction... instead of wasting time pointing outside the tent at third parties? Seems like your party needs some reform - no? But hey... keep telling yourselves it’s all Russia’s fault moderate Democrats turned their backs on you. Whatever.

True blue - I’m well aware of the differences between socialism and communism. I majored in Economics, and understand the difference between a pure top down command economy, and a highly highly regulated economy like you see in small Scandinavian countries like Sweden. I used the term communist loosely. Just like your new found hero - the chick from New York who popped up just this morning spouting anti Semitic propaganda uses the distinction “Democratic Socialist” loosely. Because policies like guaranteed minimum income, “affordable” housing for everyone, “free” college for everyone, and “free” healthcare, and open borders are pretty much to the left of Sweden. But hey - maybe take s look at Venezuela or Cuba and let me know how that has worked out. Except even those countries don’t have open borders... not that anyone’s dying to move there. Hmmm

Fun arguing with you all. Bottom line though... Hillary lost, Republicans got control of the House and Senate, Trump is going to put not one, but TWO justices on the court... and Republicans are likely to hold the Senate come November. That’s the way it is... get used to it. You’re all stuck with the orange guy for at least another 2.5 years.

Irrelevant, dope.

He won enough votes in the right states to claim the presidency.

Sorry, you've yet to figure that out, dope.

As usual, the Democrats weighing in on this thread have stopped even attempting to make a coherent argument, and resorted to saying things like, “traitor!”

I’m waiting for racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobia, and... wait for it... Nazi.

It’s pretty ironic... the same party who has decided their new favorite “it girl” - a young lady who is a self described “Democratic Socialist” and who spouted off ridiculous anti-Semitic talking points about the “occupation of Palestine” - this same party feels they have the moral high ground and can run around labeling everyone else “Nazis.”

Newsflash... you all spout off with these labels so frequently, they have lost all meaning and no one gives a shit what you say anymore...

What's the real topic I'm deflecting from? Someone made a statement that they believed the Russian troll farms actually impacted the outcome of the election.

Then, I laughed at them for being a ridiculous moron for believing such nonsense.

After that, you came in with your predictable, tired, and old "she won the popular vote" whining.

To which I replied the proper way to win the presidential race is prescribed in the US Constitution and that is to win the electoral college.

You then proceeded to come back in some broken English nonsense about winning the popular vote once AGAIN.

I pointed out your broken English and once again informed you on the manner in which the Constitution outlines the process for winning a Presidential race.

Now you are on a "deflecting" talking point when it was you who took the conversation off course with your whining about the popular vote.

Why is it that every dialogue you engage in is predictable? Are there only so many scripts you Russian trolls use?

Here is your standard modus operendi:

1. Create divisive topic.
2. Respond to facts with "did you pull that out of your ass?"
3. Accuse people pointing out your logical flaws and your inability to write coherently of being Russian trolls.
4. Accuse people who have engaged in legitimate conversation of "deflecting" from the topic (even though it is you who took it off topic, ie. like bringing up popular vote for no reason).

The real point in all this is that Trump is illegitimate. He lost the popular vote (by a lot) and had foreign powers carry him to an electoral college win. By rights, he should not be President and he knows this.

Sway independents toward Trump? Studies done on swing state voters after 2016 showed that people who voted for Trump in swing states voted for Romney in 2012. The difference proved to be the drop off in people voting for Clinton.

No, actually it doesn't. In fact, it doesn't say anything about causation. Unless you have some data to support your claim, you're shooting blanks.

Trump is an independent and always will be - that is the reason he won.

Once idiots realize Trump is not part of the GOP, they will wake up to reality.

People are done with the Red and Blue arguing like children. It is evident here and everywhere. The childish two party system is EXACTLY what Americans want gone.

Once again, Trump defenders are forced to invent absurd fantasy lands where there might be some marginally rational ways of explaining away his gross criminal corruption and stupidity. Trump fools are also completely jealous of Obama’s popularity, with Obama leaving with highest approval rating ever. He was a true leader, helping country come back from a near depression. Trump is completely benefiting from Obama and should be thanking him, instead of insulting him

Lying hysterical liberal , what a good laugh you are. Obama did nothing but social engineering his 8 years, try that bs on young stupid ones who don't know squat, everyone else is very aware of the BANKRUPT OBAMA ECONOMEY which was Zip, and RAISED THE DEFICIT 10 BILLION WITH WELFARE FOR THOSE OUT OF A JOB AND THE LAZY DEMOCRATS

Liberals flat out lying over and over again as DEMOCRATS and Banks caused the hyperinflation that caused the real estate crash and took many jobs that were thriving from the real estate high rolling along in travel, construction, new cars, additions to homes with give away home equity loans , Democrats and Banks giving loans for 425K townhouses to 35 k cashiers made the mess, and they want to start that up again!

Pretty fucking irrelevant to the thread, ya big dope.

In any event, it actually occurred due to the policies of Bill Clinton and accelerated under the Democrats once they took control of Congress in 2006.

That’s simply stupid shit. There were no issues until the Bushies tried to kill the GSE’s and turn the mission over to Wall Street. You have not begun to scratch the surface of what happened in those years.

I realize I'm arguing with an unarmed foe, but try to keep up here. Based on your assertions:
1) Independents were not swayed by Russian meddling
2) GOP folks from 2012 remained GOP folks in 2016
3) Some people switched from Dem to GOP in 2016

#2 and #3 don't support #1: Russian meddling was apparently aimed at swaying folks toward GOP. Surprise, folks who voted GOP in 2012 still get only one vote, so if they were swayed to be more GOP (whatever that means), it would be invisible. And if people switched from Dem to GOP in 2016, that *could* mean they were swayed by Russian meddling. It does NOT prove that they were; we'll never know -- even if we could somehow question those folks, they of course aren't aware that they were meddled with.

So I don't need data to support my assertion beyond YOUR assertions, which is all I was discussing.

Get it? Got it? Good.

Attention, low-lifes and down-scalers. While entirely beyond the scope of your own mathematical comprehension, it is quite possible to model a variety of situations in which primary data are not or not readily available. This in fact is done all the time while you aren't really watching. When done with respect to the 2016 election, it turns out that -- as a sudden and discrete event -- Comey's last minute interference may have had an even greater affect, but that accumulations over time of fake news and false messaging planted across the internet by Russian troll farms could alone have accounted for the tiny margins that Trump won by in key swing states.

Those are the facts, whether you choose to recognize them or instead to run away from them in terror.

"May have" and "could have" are not facts. They are unsupported hypotheses. Unless you have the actual factual data supporting those hypotheses, it is probably best you sit down and shut the fuck up before you embarrass yourself again.
