Trump was elected on an arcane technicality, but he didn't beat anyone in doing so. As we all know, he lost to Hillary by more than 2.8 million votes and has never enjoyed the support of anything close to 50% of the people.
He has of course been a complete disaster as President. Easily worse than Bush-43, the previous worst US President ever.

Kagan was confirmed in August of 2010 (a mid-term year). The republicans never even brought up that it was an election year or that the nomination should be put on hold. A mid-term election year and a presidential election year are totally different animals regarding nominating to the SC.
There was no upside to allowing a vote on Garland for the GOP. Just like there's no upside for the democrats in allowing a vote on Kavanagh. It exposes vulnerable democrat senators in red states. Unfortunately for the democrats, they don't control the Senate in 2016, the GOP did. And that's why they got their way. It's just politics.

Only fools want 3 or 4 major cities determining who our president is going to be. The country is diverse and the electoral college was set up to ensure that diversity wasn't overwhelmed by a handful of large population centers. It's just another example of the pure genius of the founders.

That’s not at all why it was set up. You can actually read all about the debates at the constitutional convention, no one was talking about protecting diversity. It was created to give the agrarian south a larger representation at the federal level. The same reason the south was also allowed to count slaves as 3/5ths of a person for congressional representation. That’s exactly what they were trying to settle. How to split power between the states and the new federal government so that states would actually agree to sign the Constitution.

Don't forget the 2nd Amendment. It too was an outgrowth of the slave compromises needed to reach the magic number of nine states voting for ratification. As we don't have slavery anymore, this is all the nonsensical
residue of political squabbles from 200+ years ago. The founders never wanted slavery, and they never wanted their descendants bound in the chains of their ancestors. But it's too much turned out that way anyhow.

Horseshit, Trump took the electoral college, The founders saw the illegals in California coming, If it were the other way liberals would be endorsing the electoral college, total hypocrites on each and every issue over and over again, Libs are so stupid they think people forget, WE DONT!

And you prove his point. Everything you posted, while slanted to obfuscate your point, was that the South didn't want the large population centers of North to have undo influence in federal elections. So, 'that's no at all why' is really, overblown hyperbole that you decided to babble on about. Thanks for playing. Better luck next time. NEXT!

It was all about slavery, dude. The South was afraid of the North. Including tiny
Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Your thesis is bunk, pure and simple.

It's not my thesis dude. I just agreed with the other poster and observed (correctly) that everything you posted supported his thesis. Sorry if that chaps your butthurt, but facts are facts.

You said it was to “ensure diversity”. That is stupid.

Actually, he wrote that the electoral college was set to to 'ensure that diversity wasn't overwhelmed" by the tyranny of the majority, who live in a few pockets of large population centers. It's really a pretty easy concept to understand if you have an IQ above that of a rock. This seems to leave you out.

You are going around in circles. You focus on one part of the diverse cultural world view that existed at the time (slavery) and say it was all about that. It was about the power of the federal government to affect state's rights. The more diluted the large cities power (i.e. the North at that time), the better footing the South had in relation to a one-man/one-vote democracy that would be dominated by New York, Boston, Philadelphia and other large northern cities.
The guy was right. You were a fool to argue with him about something you apparently agree with him on. Move on.

^^^ Your analysis is highly flawed. The convention of 1787 was among states and those states were divided by slavery, which the south could not have done without consistent with its interests in tobacco, indigo, cotton, rice, and sugar.
